What a hidden gem this place was. We were hunting for a place to have breakfast before a long travel back to New Brunswick and this place didn't disappoint! We had the Bug Brunch, the loaded potatoes, a mimosa and a kambocha mimosa. All of it was phenomenal. Service was friendly and very quick and the diner was clean and organized. While we don't live here, this place is a must eat at if you're local or visiting. read more

Big fan of Springhouse Market, it's been a go-to since we moved back to Nova Scotia in 2021. We stop in regularly to stock up on vegan groceries, such as soy curls, jerky, ice cream, and hard-to-find items like vegan fish sauce. I also absolutely love their cashew cheesecakes - if you want a sweet treat, it's well worth seeing if they have slices in the case! We're also huge fans of their 'bonus' kitchen, Vegan Ghost Noodle. I think we've tried every menu item they make! I think my current favourite is the Cheeseburger noodle, but you honestly can't go wrong with any menu item, it's all delicious. Finally, I have to add that I love that they have a community support program, where you can pay for someone in need to have a meal, or a coffee, or soup. Such a great service to provide, and very much needed right now. read more

I visited Springhouse in Halifax on August 14, 2025 with my mother and a friend. The food was good, but upon leaving I noticed a poster on the bulletin board reading: "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free." As a Jewish customer, I find this slogan deeply offensive and antisemitic, as it is widely recognized as calling for the destruction of Israel and the elimination of its Jewish population. I spoke to the manager to explain this and was told she disagreed, claimed the message was for "peace," and then accused Israel of genocide. She made no effort to acknowledge or address the harm this message caused. I told her that political and discriminatory messages have no place in a restaurant, but she refused to remove it. I left feeling unwelcome and alienated. For this reason, I will not return. Patrons should be aware that this establishment openly displays and defends political messages many people consider hate speech. read more

First - the food. My favourite is the Springwich which I think may be the best sandwich in all of HRM. Second - the vegan groceries that are hard to find elsewhere. Third - the staff. Always friendly, always helpful, really great people. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. Please don't believe the fake reviews on here - and there are many. This place is AMAZING. You'll want to eat everything! Oh, and get the curry sweet potato soup to go... so delicious! read more

I've been a patron since their first booth at the Seaport Market, it's always been an amazing place! It's clean, the owners and staff are extremely friendly, going beyond customer service to help you. The food, omg the food! They always have amazing options for anyone and evolve their menu based on feedback or to switch things up with seasonal new options. The butter chickpeas are delicious and the Taco bowl is my go to, that Salsa Roja is amazing. The owners like to help their neighbourhood, promote local and/or marginalized businesses. I like these guys on Facebook and have been seeing their posts for a while now and I've been dying to try some of their stuff, I regret waiting so long! All of their stuff is vegan and they don't use anything artificial or preservatives. I tried their spicy walnut hummus with corn chips with flax in them, both of which are made in house I believe. The spicy hummus was actually spicy which was a pleasant surprise, and it was garlicky and smooth, the corn chips went really nicely with it, but they were also really good on their own. Also I didn't feel so bad about eating a whole bag to myself as they were at least slightly healthy with the addition of flax to them. Today I tried their smoothie parfait, I got the Halifornia smoothie which has cranberries, hemp, mango in it, and they put fresh fruit, granola and cashew cream in it. I paid extra to get kefir added to it. I never had cashew cream but it was really tasty. I would highly recommend the smoothie parfait, and it was filling too, it made the perfect breakfast! The only reason they get a 4 instead of 5 is that it is pretty pricy. The smoothie parfait was $10, so I don't think it's somewhere I could eat every day for the price alone. Given the fact that everything is made from scratch I can see why the price tag is a bit high. I can't wait to return and try some more of their menu. read more

My son and his girlfriend are vegetarian and they suggested that my partner and I (we are not vegetarian) go to lunch there to try it out. We were all surprised and delighted by the quality of the food which was served to us - fresh and flavourful! My son said that vegetarians often pay a premium for vegetarian food in restaurants simply because restaurants know that they will pay for it. This spot serves delicious food at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend Springhouse to anyone who wants fresh, healthy and very tasty food. Waitstaff (one young woman for the whole restaurant, it seemed) was attentive and friendly. We arrived at about 11:45 am, in order to beat the lunchtime crowd, and we were glad we did. It's not a large spot (largest table was set up for 4 and we were able to get it) read more

10/10 HOLY MOLY I LOVE SPRINGHOUSE!!!! I have only gotten take out, but the taller server with short brown hair is the sweetest, was very helpful with the menu and answered every question I had. Rather disappointed when I found this spot. After researching and reading the menu online, I felt sure this would be the place for me. However, it turned out that they had very little the same as listed on the website. They no longer make almond mylk and only sometimes make cashew mylk. They use boxed mylks for smoothies, although I was told they'll use the cashew if they have it for a fee. Sunday morning they were out. Online menu items I was hoping to have were not anywhere to be seen or listed. I also didn't realize from reading the website that it was inside a market and had to wander to be found. read more
