The nightly s'mores were a fun touch, and the pool and hot tub were relaxing, with a pretty walkway leading to them. Our room was comfortable, with cozy beds and extra bedding, which we appreciated. We loved that the main lodge had hot coffee and ice water available - as well as games and loves to check out! That said, the exterior is starting to show some age, with weeds throughout the grounds and overgrown bushes making the sidewalks feel crowded. A window on our room was broken and the indoor pool was out of commission. While the activities are a great perk, one was full before I could attend, and the yoga class I signed up for didn't have an instructor show up. Overall though, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay and I'd happily come back again!

I found a 4 day canoe trip including all equipment and good on amazon for $200 per person (not…read moreincluding tax and park fees, which is reasonable). A friend and I decided we would go on the trip and relax from the world (no internet/data near the Canadian border), especially our jobs and just relax. Overall, it was a great experience and we had a great time. I will have to warn you though, it takes a lot of patience and helps us realize that we take a lot of things for granted. For example, washing your dishes after every meal to avoid all the bugs and wild critters that will come sniffing out your food. We heard wolves at night which I thought was cool and I wasn't scared because they were clearly on the other side of the river (which was too damn cold for us to even stand near). The one thing we were surprised to learn about is that most people get their canoe flipped over.. which can be scary because you lose everything and risk hypothermia. We did not have that issue, however, we had major issues with the wind rocking us hard (super scary..) and forcing us back and making us do more work to row our way back up. Mac and cheese was a pain to clean, but everything else was ok. Starting a fire wasn't as easy either, prob wish I brought a gallon of gasoline honestly.. haha.. Basically, it was an amazing experience, I recommend everyone try it (without your kids if you don't have any experience as they will panic and flip the canoe). We enjoyed it so much, we decided that this should be a "once in a lifetime experience" for us.

First off, I have to say that the area and the location are fantastically beautiful. Just…read moregorgeous, and despite some of the problems we experienced with the outfitting company, it was a great trip. But be warned. I'd organized a bachelor party trip comprised of 6 people from all over the country. I'd been in close contact with Bonnie at the lodge and was calling every few days to check up on our progress as the departure date grew nearer. She assisted with route choice, the permitting process, and recommended gear, which we modified to fit our group's needs. It was going pretty smoothly. It did not go so smoothly when we showed up. Despite all the planning and communication, when we showed up they had no idea who we were, what we wanted, or showed any indication that the packlist information had been put anywhere except the trash. When I checked in, the woman who helped us found my name and got us canoes and paddles, then looked clueless when we asked where all the rest of the gear was. She had no record of any of the items we had reserved, nor was she able to locate one. After on-the-spot piecing together what we thought we'd needed after explaining the predicament to her, we loaded the canoes and were about to take off when I decided to double check the gear she'd given us. It turns out she hadn't included the stoves, pots, or cookwear, which was a problem not only because we'd specifically reserved them, but because we were heading into the back country for the next 5 days. When I brought this to her attention, she nonchalantly asked me if I'd like to rent that as well (despite my numerous calls and the conversation we'd had just 10 minutes prior indicating that yes, we would need them). The fact that she had almost sent us into the woods for almost a week with no food didn't seem to phase her. Eventually we got underway and ended up having a fantastic trip, but the lack of organization and follow-through on the outfitter is something that really bothered me. We're not expert canoers, though I am quite comfortable in the outdoors, but there should have been a bit more guidance than that. At the very least they should have had some record of the information we'd been giving back and forth over the last few months. Nice people, great location, terrible logistics.

I am not sure how it was cooled, but we didn't need to adjust it during our stay. My uncle liked being able to walk outside for his smoking habit. The food was very good. I critique restaurants very harshly, so for them to get a five star rating is a big deal. I ate a grilled shrimp meal the first evening. The cocktail sauce was a chef preparation with horseradish and red pepper? Flakes. It was simply the best spicy cocktail sauce I have ever had. No lie. A bit hot for some for sure. The only flaw in the meal was the sauteed green beans were a bit tough. This happens if they are not par cooked and chilled before sautee. I ordered a key lime pie for dessert that I would not recommend. It had too much rind and was watery. The second night we got in past the kitchen close time of 9 pm. Guess what. They still allowed us a shortened menu. I had the steak bites and italian cheese sticks. The steak bites were served on the most delicious pie crusty/popover things with a horseradish sauce. Yum. As innkeepers; being nice to guests arriving late is something that really set them apart. The last evening, I had the king cut of prime rib. It, too, was superb. I also was served the same green beans, but they were prepared a bit differently it seemed. They were not as tough, but they gave me such a huge piece of prime rib, I had no room for it all. The next morning we were going to leave before their brunch, however, we ended up staying. I had a nearly table side prepared omelet and it was the best breakfast I had all week. I also had the french toast. The only complaint on the toast was the syrup was served cold and that is a pet peeve of mine. The fresh fruit was a wonderful addition and the coffee was perfect. I strongly recommnd you give them a try. You are welcome to use my review on your website.
