1-star Review for Spruce Park on the River, Kalispell, MT and here is why: I booked this RV park based on the photos and Google reviews, thinking it would be a great spot right on the river while I was driving 2-days from another state. I had no idea what to expect, so I trusted the online reputation. Unfortunately, this experience was incredibly disappointing and frustrating from the moment I arrived. I made my reservation early in the day and spoke to someone on the phone who told me I could stop by the office when I got there to finalize check-in and get my welcome packet. At no point did anyone mention that absolutely no check-in is allowed after 9 PM. I also received an email and completed mobile check-in, which made it even more confusing -- I had my site number and everything paid for, so I assumed I was good to go. I arrived just after 9 PM. The office hours on the door said they were open until 9, and the email clearly stated that packets for late arrivals would be left outside. There was no packet. I called the "24-hour number," and the woman who answered was shockingly rude. She told me, bluntly, "We don't allow check-ins after 9," and when I explained that no one had told me this and I'd already paid, she basically said, "I don't know what to tell you," refused to help, and hung up on me. I had just driven two long days, and all I wanted was the shower code -- which she also refused to give me. To make things worse, the site I booked (in the G lot) was impossible to get into with my fifth wheel. So even if I had been allowed to check in, I couldn't have parked there anyway. Overall, I spent $140 on a spot I couldn't access, got no help from staff, and was treated incredibly rudely. If you're planning to stay here, make sure you understand every single rule ahead of time -- because if there's any issue, don't expect kindness or support from the staff. I would not recommend this place and will not be returning. read more

The most beautiful and peaceful rv park in the Flathead valley!! River views are so great! We stayed here for 5 months and absolutely loved it. Later in the season, we enjoyed playing in and on the gorgeous river flowing alongside the campground. The grass and grounds are very well kept, and the staff are attentive and kind. It feels like a family! Bathrooms are immaculate with cute touches like live flowers and baskets with toiletries. Huge park area for kids to play and dogs to run around in. Nice new playground. Fun cornhole and outside checkers and horseshoes. Overall, one of our favorite places to camp. And don't forget about the hot air balloons that frequently take off right from the park around sunset- what a unique and unforgettable experience!! read more

We are just completing a 2 week stay at Spruce Park RV Resort, and I had to write a review based on our experience since we clearly had a much better experience than some previous guests who wrote reviews. I'll admit, before we arrived, I went back on Campground Reviews, TripAdvisor and Yelp to re-read what others had said, causing me to be super nervous about staying here. Several months prior, we chose and booked this location as we wanted to be more in-town in Kalispell for this portion of our working and playing on the road trip, and we'd driven past this place several times over the years, so we felt the location was ideal for what we needed and wanted. I remember seeing the bad reviews before, but somewhat dismissed them since some were very old reviews. I am giving this place 5 stars for a few reasons. 1. To combat the terrible reviews that in my opinion, are absolutely unwarranted. 2. Because we really liked this location, the staff, the campsites and the facilities. 3. Because this place really deserves a 4.5, and I had to choose. First, to address the anti-nature reviewer about the cottonwood trees. Yeah, they are cottonwood trees and they drop a lot of cottony fibers in July. Sometimes, it looked like it was snowing cotton. First of all, with out these beautiful large trees, this place would not be as nice. This should not deter anyone from visiting here unless you are allergic to cottonwood trees. Next, to combat the mean comments about staff. WTHeck are you people talking about? I encountered the staff several times over the course of our stay and they were kind, friendly, helpful and I was never treated poorly. Perhaps they had hired a bad seed last year and have since gotten rid of that person, or perhaps the reviews were from disgruntled employees, who knows, I just know I had no issues at all. Next, many said there were a lot of rules. Yep, the rules were your typical RV Resort rules to make sure people behave nicely, respect quiet time and take care of their pets in this shared setting. Nothing weird or unusual here at all. The laundry facility was nice. I used it twice. Machines were affordable and the dryers were great huge industrial ones that dried things quickly. Lastly, the road noise is somewhat constant but does lessen as it gets later. I will agree with the noise comments, but we were in an travel trailer and didn't have any issues sleeping. I am not sure I would tent camp here due to the noise, and this park is "in town" and not really a nature experience anyway. Because we were on the river and had no sewer hook-up, we used the showers and restrooms daily. While yes, they aren't new, they were spotless. I found the shower to be super clean every time I used it, and they even placed hooks everywhere, and had a bench in the shower stall changing area, which was great. They even had a little hook in the shower itself so I could hang my shower puff. It's the little things that go a long way. The water pressure and temperature were always perfect. The campsite itself was great. Being right along the river, we put our chairs along the bank and sat there many nights watching the kayakers and boaters go by. My other half was even able to fish in the evenings from the campground. In choosing a site, I recommend the river sites if you can handle not having sewer hookups. I also would highly recommend the sites in either F, G, H or J. We were in F5. If you are considering staying here to explore Glacier NP, you are about 35 minutes from the park entrance. There are closer places in West Glacier, Coram or Columbia Falls. But, if you want to explore several places around the area, it's a good location for being central to Kalispell, Bigfork, Flathead Lake, and only 30 minutes Whitefish. We will definitely be back! read more

Spruce on the river was a great campground with all the works! Playground, showers and laundry! Campground right on the river with a view of the mountains! Was able to book short notice and get a great spot at that! Staff was super friendly as well! I will return! read more

Well-maintained, pleasant RV park with friendly staff. Large park with lots of trees and grass, and river views. There is a permanent residence area, but it is a separate area from the "short timers" and was not an issue. We had a long pull-through site, with plenty of room for our 27' RV and tow vehicle. But we were very close to our neighbors, and our outside area was a bit underneath the slide out of the rig next to us, but we managed okay. If we go back I would try to get one of the back-in river sites. It was a fairly quiet RV park, but there was a little bit of noise from the nearby highway. It wasn't too bothersome other than the occasional trucker Jake brake noise. Free wi-fi, and it worked fairly well once I got it established on my devices. Laundry room was clean. $2.00 per wash, .25 per 10 minutes to dry. They have very strict rules regarding dogs. (See my photos.) There is an abundance of green grassy areas; some are marked "No dogs allowed", but others were not. Not really clear. $100 fine if you break their dog rules. The park is located along the Flathead River. We enjoyed watching rafters come down the river; but the current is fast. I witnessed two river rescues within hours of each other. Just a reminder to respect the power of nature and use common sense when you are on the river. read more

We spent seven nights here. The owner and her employees are all very nice and helpful. She rides around in a golf cart, playing ice cream music and selling ice cream in the evenings. There are a pair of bald eagles that live near the river. The pair came for a visit every day. They landed in a tree next to our trailer. The campground is clean. They keep up the grass and the trees around the campground. We had a beautiful view of Flathead river. We will come back! read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars to be nice because it has the potential to be an very nice park, however the current management needs to be let go. We experienced hostility, passive aggression, and attempted intimidation by one member of the management team in particular, she knows who she is and she made it quite clear that she's proud of her childish behavior. She should have been terminated and trespassed from the property immediately after talking the way she did about a guest to another member of management that claimed to also be an owner of the property. The sites themselves are tight. The facilities that were open were meager at best and could have used some attention from management. The saving grace for this place is the proximity to the beautiful Flathead River, and a location central to Flathead Lake and GNP. read more

We didn't have reservations but hey put us originally in a long term area that was run down and tight due to neighbor campers full time cars and personal items scattered around. I then asked for a premium spot for a few dollars more right on the River Bank. My son and I enjoyed it there and extended our stay another night. Restrooms were ok, other campers were close on one side but not as bad as most KOA campgrounds I've stayed at. We will probably stay there again if I can get a river spot. I like the river and mountain view very peaceful. read more

This is your average RV Park not exceptional but certainly adequate. We tent camped and the sites were fairly close together but right on a beautiful river. The bathrooms were never packed but could use a bit of updating. One serious problem though was sap. The cottonwoods are infested with aphids and thus drip sap EVERYWHERE! The result was a couple hours spent wiping down tents as the sap was super sticky. Management not overly concerned when it was reported. If you are tenting it stay away from the trees. read more

We've been here three years in a row. The spaces are a bit small (minus 1 star). But aside from that, they are great. They charge a buck for a dog, but seriously, it's a buck! I'm good with it. The new lady at the desk is super sweet and they treat you so nice. Without a doubt this is the nicest place in Kalispell or whitefish we have found yet. I'm open to suggestions though :) The E spaces are nice , F are smaller and pretty much everything else, we just avoid. Everyone we have come across staying has been fun and friendly. They offer goodsam discounts on day rates, but not weekly and will do monthly deals too. Anyhow, have fun with them and the water is swift, so don't even think about "swimming on the river" with the kids. Not if you plan on taking them home! So fast the water!!! The sites in this RV Park are too close together, I did not feel comfortable letting our children howl for fear we would disturb the neighbors. The sites were full hookup though, including 50 AMP electricity. The location of the RV Park is far outside of town and there are very few amenities near the park. The bathrooms were a bit dirty. The RV park had plenty of greenery to run around in, unfortunately if you were to stay here you can not enjoy the river because the RV park has a levy separating it from the river. Not a horrible RV Park, just not a great one either. read more

We did a one night overnight at this park as we travelled through. Seemed pretty organized and was clean. Lots and lots of rules and signs everywhere. They were very aggressive about dogs. Evidently, there are a lot of non-responsible dog owners who visit. So, there is this specific area to walk dogs, and it is awful. You'd think since they are wanting you to go there with your dog, that it would at least be a decent area. It was all rocks, wood chip debris, dead unmown grass etc. Anyway, lovely setting on the river. Lot of long term types there. read more

I've stayed in nicer and I've stayed in worse. The sites on the North end seem to be larger with lots less children running around. We do, however, seem to be surrounded by yappy dogs, but that's not the park's fault. They do have a dock for fishing but the Flathead River is so fast by here. read more

Sites too close together. River pretty but inaccessible. My biggest complaint is they charge to have dogs. Presumably because people don't pick up their dogs poop and it "makes for more work for the grounds people". First of all, I'm a responsible dog owner and I don't appreciate having to pay for those that aren't. Also there was dog poop left in the area so evidently their "grounds people" aren't earning their money. Or MY money. Lady at desk was rude when asked about it. read more

When we arrived at the park, the desk clerks were extremely pleasant (Katie and Jill). When we were designated a spot, we were aware of a long list of rules posted on the wall, behind the desk. Four days after setting up camp, for our 30 day stay (which we paid in advance), the owners daughter/park manager (Jerry), came suddenly and very rudely and told us we were parked the wrong direction. Turning around faces the rv directly into another rv instead of the mountain and river view we had come to enjoy. When I tried to explain that the campers next to us these past four days had no issue with our placement and we had completely unpacked and set up camp for long term, and the direction of the unit was not on her long list of rules, she became even more arrogant and rude. I then informed her that we would be moving out. Prior to checking in, we had read reviews of this type of behavior from her, but chose to try it anyway. Since leaving, we have had several other rv'ers relay similar experiences with her. By the way, nowhere is it in the website that it costs $$ to use the showers, over and above the camping fee. We will be in the Kalispell area for at least 10 days every 90 days for the next year or so, on business. I can assure you we will not make the mistake to staying at Spruce park on the River again. Marginal park, great view, but cannot overcome the rudeness and lack of professionalism on the owner/manager. We have been camping all over the United States since 2001, never had we had to make a decision to move because of this kind of behavior. read more

Sites are close but staff is friendly, quiet site lots of yearly return customers come there. Bathrooms are clean , dual showers in each. Wi-fi works ok your allowed 2 device passes only. Sites are not as level as they could be but usable. Larger unit friendly regardless. Service placement requires you to have extra water line to attach. Overall good experience compared to other sites in the vicinity. read more

We did our reservations of the phone and then was emailed the information. Check in time was 1:00 and when we arrived there was a note on the door that the office would reopen at 2:00 and to find one of the groundskeepers and they would tell us where our spot was. There were only 2 people that had reservations that day. Unfortunately he didn't know which spot we had so he put us in the other peoples spot. We set up the trailer and after a few hours later we checked with the office and was told we were in the wrong place and that our information she emailed us told us what spot we should be in. I showed her the email and she pointed out H08 70' pull-through 50/30 amp full hookups sentence. I said I had absolutely no idea that the H08 meant what spot we were in as there wasn't a map attached with the reservation, which really would have been nice, since we had never been to this RV park before. So we had to tear down and move.Didn't even receive an apology. If your going to close the office and you know you have people coming in at least pin a map and my reservation to the door, or make sure you pass on the info to the grounds people. read more
