Downgrading this to a meh. Yes the produce is good quality. Yes the idea of sourcing local products and delivering greener is something I value. However, the service keeps sliding downhill each week. I don't know if all the great employees quit after 2019 but 2020 has been riddled with errors. Out of seven total deliveries so far, two have had missing items and I'm not a fan of the policy that doesn't just refund the money to your credit card. They give you store credit towards your next purchase as a default. If I'm consistently getting wrong orders, I'm going to start going elsewhere and don't want to go through the hassle of requesting a refund. My last order was confirmed delivered by email and the delivery person didn't even go to the right address, which caused a lot of stress because I had an invoice, had a confirmation, but the customer service person couldn't get the driver on the phone. The customer service person was supposed to call me back to confirm it was being redelivered. They didn't. The food was eventually delivered but the drivers never knock so I have no idea when it was delivered. I just happened to stumble across my delivery an hour after I got off the phone with support when I went to take out the trash. Completely sub-par quality control and delivery even though the products are great. read more

I have been a customer for many years. I have now suspended my delivery and will not be using Spud again. Why? I was charged more than $150.00 for an order I did not receive. Their website can be very "glitchy", and even though I had canceled this order multiple times apparently the order was still on their books. I received a text telling me it was going to be delivered. I was at an appt at the Cross Cancer, weigh 90 pounds, and cannot bring the order in myself. I tried to tell the "customer care" representative my issue. I put that in quotations as she didn't "care" at all and just kept repeating that it was my fault for not submitting my order properly. She did call the driver and instruct him not to deliver my order as I am not physically able to carry it in the house myself and my son was away for the weekend. Even though the driver didn't deliver the food I was charged for it. I have repeatedly attempted to contact a supervisor and I am repeatedly told someone will get in contact with me. They have not. What they have done is charge my credit card so now.....already weighing 90 pounds....battling leukaemia.....I have no more grocery money for the remainder of September. Shame on you Spud! I have suspended delivery as apparently I can't even cancel my account or remove my payment information, and no one calls me. DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM SPUD.....THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AT ALL!!!!!! I've done SPUD a few times over the years, and I have to agree that it used to be GREAT, but now it's okay. Why did I put 4 stars? Well, I had zeroed out an order (as there seems not to be a CANCEL button for orders?) last week, but then tonight while we were out, I got an email that my order from last week had arrived?!! One quick call the the 1-800 number and the employee "Jessica" looked up my account, cancelled the order,refunded me the order on my credit card and called the driver to pick up the items. I was out for my birthday, so when I got home, it had all been picked up and settled! WAS VERY IMPRESSED!! I just really loved tonight's service, and I hope that SPUD gets the glitches, of whatever they've been going through sorted out as I love their ideology, service and would totally re-order. . . and yes, the site isn't super great, but SPUD - ***Please put a cancel order button on your website!!**** Otherwise, give them a chance! read more

I just started using Spud and so far I am fairly disappointed. My order last week was missing items and was delivered a day late. My order this week is missing half my order again. I called Customer Service and they were not able help me and said they will pass me on to a more senior person. Still waiting to hear back from them. 2 for 2 with problems on my orders, definitely not a good start with Spud. read more

This company won't even call you on order date if they need to get into your home to deliver. If you live in an apartment gawd help you. They won't put any effort to get in touch with the phone number you posted. Then when you call them the next day wait on hold for 40 min then find out you have to wait another week for your delivery. If you would like to use the worst delivery company then Spud.ca is your place to go. We received 20% of our order, so we requested a refund for the undelivered goods. This has been the most painful experience ever. We have tried for three weeks to get a credit to our credit card and still nothing has been done to date. How come other merchants can issue credit due in short order but they can't? They can charge but they don't Seem to want to refund monies owed. read more

I had a terrible experience with SPUD which can be read about in my previous review. I contacted them and advised them of all of my concerns and told them I wanted to cancel my service. Today I received another order that I never placed and was charged for it. I sent the delivery driver away with it and immediately sent them an email explaining my concerns and asking for a refund. I also noticed that they never refunded the last items that did not come with my order earlier this month. I logged into my SPUD online account to make sure all of my orders are cancelled and was going to delete my credit card information, but I could not find any standing orders or a place to delete my credit card info.... talk about horrible! I highly recommend not using SPUD as they don't seem to understand how to treat customers fairly and with respect. read more

I've been using spud over a year now and it is exactly as advertised they go online mostly I stop all the specials to keep the cost down and the prices are pretty on par with the brand name supermarkets that being said their quality is always great as well and you can shop locally. I placed an order in December 29th, 2014, for a Jan 4th delivery, a gift for my mom worth $141. It never arrived. I called on Jan 8th. Voice mail was full. I emailed them; no response. I emailed them again today, with a read receipt; no response so far... Not sure where to go next, as they are not reachable, and since this was a gift, timing was important. This was my second spud order recently and I am still very impressed. The quality of the kale, and the dandelions was amazing. Very fresh! I ordered organic whipping cream this time and will not turn back!!! They made an error on my bill last round, but they fixed it. I got a block of cheese instead of grass fed butter this time around, but I imagine they will fix that also. Delivery drivers are polite, friendly, and efficient They came to get the empty boxes pretty quickly as well. I placed my first order with SPUD after receiving a promo code from one of their friendly representatives at a local food event. With a little bit of credit, I was free to try out SPUD's produce delivery with no hesitation and I'm pleased to say that I'm quite impressed with my experience. My order consisted of mostly fruits and veggies but SPUD also offers baked goods, dairy, meat, juices and various other snacks. I was really impressed by their website's interface which made it easy to choose and review an order. Obviously it's challenging picking out produce online since you can't see the size, shape and colour of your choices but I was happy to try a little bit of everything as part of my first order. The quality of the produce was generally quite good and the order was delivered in a hefty box right to my door. Most of the produce was fresh, large and tasty, however a couple items were a little bit over-ripe. Given how important seeing and touching produce is when you buy it at the store or the market, I was generally quite impressed with what I had delivered and I would definitely use SPUD's services again, especially for heartier items like potatoes, onions, squash and packaged goods. SPUD is a really great resource for people who want to have fresh, organic food delivered but can't make it to the grocery store or won't be able to make it to one of Edmonton's markets on the weekends. It can be tough not being able to see and feel your produce before ordering it online but my first experience has assured me that they pick out great food to deliver to your door. read more

We love shopping at Spud. We have been buying a few items mostly every week for a year and their quality of produce has never disappointed us. Even if it does, they are willing to accept refund request reasonably, which we really appreciate because you can't judge quality when ordering online. We like the convenience of delivery service, and are also not obligated to have a term contract or to order every week. We also appreciate the fact that they make sure to deliver only when someone is home during winter and don't leave a delivery box outside. read more

I've received a few SPUD boxes now, and I absolutely love it every time! I get to browse through local and organic groceries online at my convenience - all from producers like Gull Valley Green Houses, Bles Wold, and Meadow Creek Farms, who I already know and love. Everything is packed carefully and cleverly (i.e. frozen foods stay frozen and nothing gets squished), then delivered to my door - even when I met the delivery guy downstairs, he insisted on carrying up to the apartment for me! Sometimes eating consciously can be inconvenient, and I don't know about you, but I really hate going to the grocery store most of the time. SPUD is trying to make eating healthily/locally as easy as possible - something I can definitely get behind. Not only that, but every SPUD employee I've been in contact with has been really helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend SPUD if you want to start (or continue) eating a more healthy, ethical diet from some of the awesome farmers and suppliers in our area. This company has the worst customer service/service I have ever dealt with when dealing wiry online grocery orders. I had a confirmed order to be be delivered on a Saturday. The driver called and left a message saying the house number was wrong(it was, my fault). I called back within 15 minutes to correct the error and was then told the deliveries were done for the day. That was at 6:30pm. I was told the order would go out on Monday. On Monday, there was still no delivery. I called them to be told there was no record of me calling on Saturday and the house number had still not been updated. I was told it would be delivered Tuesday. Then the same thing for Wednesday. It is now 2 hours til they close down for the day and still no delivery. In these times when people are wanting to stay home and away from stores I must say that this company is not doing its part. I will never use this service again and encourage you to go elsewhere. read more

Needing online groceries due to pandemic, tried Spud at suggestion of daughter in Vancouver. At first they weren't great - overloaded due to pandemic. Their website is NOT intuitive - I recieved a couple of orders I thought I'd cancelled. The food has been uniformly excellent though pricey. Prices much better is you shop their sales. The meat is excellent - I will carry on with them for this reason alone. Also when I wanted a beer and didn't want to venture out to the liquour store I was able to add a locally produced 6 pack to my order. Overall, I'd say that if you're willing to pay for premium quality and shop their sales this service is worth it. read more

If you're looking for the finest groceries with excellent customer service....go elsewhere. Almost anywhere else will probably be better, with a lot less hassle. This is a company led by a supremely mediocre team who don't much care for details. I have been shopping with them for about a year now, so over 50 orders on, I feel I can rightly write a review and tell you what the deal is with Spud.ca. Sometimes things are pretty good: you get what you asked for, the prices aren't astronomical, and you think this is the way to go. More often than not, however, items are missing, for which they are going to charge you anyway. Watch this one. I would be out many hundreds of dollars if I didn't go over the invoices. Even when you do and reach out to customer service, getting a reply from them always takes many days, or never at all. They have a gift at this company for ignoring you. Yes, the company whom you are paying ghosts you. Charming, no? For example, this past Friday, I received about half the ordered order. They charged me for the entire invoice, regardless of the 15 missing items. Have been calling them for three days. You can't even get through, and when you do, you get an automated message telling you no one can take your call. Disconnect. At the end of the day, for a city like Edmonton, Spud.ca is fair, though on the poor side of fair. Half the time I am grateful for the delivery, the other half, I am pulling my hair out. They delivered my goods right after I went to bed. In bear country. I had to wake up out of anxiety to get my two large bins that were delivered at 9:37pm in fear that a bear would tackle my expensive goods from my front porch. UHhhh, needless to say - not impressed at the delivery times, ya no thanks. Then - to my first delivery surprise - they had missed my $7 crackers that I needed for my party the next night. Whoops, mistakes happen, but not answering my email the next day ergs me, it's like going grocery shopping without a till person to answer to their mistake. I've been getting deliveries from SPUD for a few months now, I didn't realize how much time I wasted at the grocery store before having my food delivered. It is a bit more expensive than going to the grocery store, but I think the convenience of ordering online, and never having to go to the store has been worth it. I hadn't really tried organic food before trying Spud, but I find I can really taste the difference on the fresh fruits and veggies. It has been great for trying new foods that I have never seen at the grocery store, like watermelon radishes, they're great, and such a cool colour. I used to love spud.ca, but no more. My most recent transaction with them over the last 25 days was nothing but pain. 3 items were missing. They delivered 2 of the 3 items on the next delivery date. Great. BUT the third item was never delivered. I contacted them by email 4 times over 20 days or so, but never received any reply let alone apology. Every time I asked them to deliver the missing item, no response. I felt my inquiry was completely ignored. Today I contacted them again via spud.ca website asking again for delivery of the missing item, but in the end they applied a refund without my consent. I had clearly communicated to them that I do not like a refund, but the item. There was no explanation why they did what they did. No more spud for me. read more

So after my initial terrible experience I did get my order late the next day. Spud credited me $40 so I decided to give them another shot. This time the ordering and delivery process was way smoother but there were some items missing from my order, some substitutions I didn't want and a not so fresh salad. I think part of the problem is with the packing, items that are fresh and frozen are packed in together and stay like that all day until they're delivered. I'm on the fence with Spud...I mainly buy local produce from our farmers markets and there's a significant markup on Spud.ca (for example, the delicious mini cucumbers from Doefs greenhouse are 3 for $11 at the market but $4.99 on the website). However, they do have some good deals on other organic products and they've got a variety that you might not be able to find in store unless you live near Planet Organic or Blush Lane. My Routine deodorant usually costs around $30 but I got it for $22 last week which was very exciting! I think you have to know your prices and products and be ok with possibly paying more for certain things. I placed my first SPUD order this week and drove home after work in eager anticipation of having the box waiting for me at my front doorstep when I arrived, and SPUD did not disappoint. It was refreshing not to have to make a trip to the grocery store before dinner! I ordered mostly produce, all of which was crisp, fresh and most importantly- delicious. I would have to say that one of my favourite items was the loaf of Prairie Mill organic bread. There is a noticeable difference in the taste and quality of their bread as compared to the regular store bought variety and they're a local company to boot! As a company, SPUD certainly demonstrates a sound understanding of customer service, I even received a hand written card with my delivery. I also found the ordering system on their site to be efficient and user friendly which made grocery shopping from my office over lunch break a breeze! I have ordered from SPUD a total of 3 times and will never again. First order was good, second order had bad produce and third wasn't delivered until 950 pm. I personally work early and would never have ordered if I had known I would be putting away my groceries so late. I emailed and never received a response. I then called (got the busy signal a couple times) and finally got through. They pretty much told me that this will happen from time to time and to expect late deliveries more in the winter. How about no? Clearly they dont have enough drivers because the last delivery should be for 8 in case of unexpected delays. (never after 9) I finally received an email back 3 days later and emailed my concerns and never heard back, I will never order from them again and have told many friends/coworkers how unreliable they are. read more

SPUD is amazing! I am always looking for local and organic products throughout the city but now I use Spud because they have everything online and they deliver it to my office and home. Having healthy snacks at my office has been a huge bonus as some days I have lots of meetings and being able to grab a healthy snack is very beneficial. Now I am able to get home and place an order when its convenient for me and I know when it will be delivered. It saves me lots of time by avoiding busy grocery stores and I love knowing I supported local farmers. Everything I have received has tasted great! read more

I see the SPUD truck in my neighbourhood all the time and I have always thought of trying it out. I got some information from the lady that was at the SPUD station at the Yelp Elite Ultimate Picnic Party. I placed my order that evening (Monday) and was told that I could change my order as much as I want until 3pm the day before my delivery (which in my neighbourhood is Wednesdays). I just wanted to go all out and buy everything they had listed on their website, because it all sounded and looked so amazing. I settled for an Organic Seasonal Fruit Package (which contained peaches, pears, necarines, plums, and strawberries). We also got bananas, eggs, cheese, onions, carrots, and 3 bottles of different flavors of smoothies. The prices are decent, and they deliver! Plus I got a discount, so that rocked! The delivery happened shortly before I got home from work but I got a text message saying that it was delivered successfully. There was a voice mail on my home phone stating where the box was, and it worked perfectly fine. They went that extra step to make sure I got my stuff. Plus, it was package perfectly and the ice packs were still frozen! I can't wait to place my next order, and have even referred a friend! I can't wait to try out their meats, and some more fruits and vegetables. Heck, I'd love to try everything! read more
