EDIT Feb 2, 2015.
WOW. I came back with friends for a girls weekend, excited to show them this kick ass restaurant....and it was one of the worst dining experiences I had! The chef came to our table to discuss the specials and the to take our food order, which I thought was odd....Where was the waitress because the chef wasn't going to take our drink order and we were thirsty. We order with the chef...then a million years later, the distracted waitress takes our drink order...and another million years later, brings the drinks to our table. But as the chef brings the meals, he's confused as I am waiting for my food. Unfortunately, his English in minimal and he then comes back to tell me that he FORGOT my order. FORGOT! He says he can make it in 5 minutes, which was closer to 15. I order the same thing that I had back in the summer, the Pasta Ragu, with the bolognese sauce. But this time, it came with Fettuccini noodles and hardly any sauce! It was like I was at a different restaurant, they must've changed chefs because it was horrible. No flavor and I was really hungry and and it was not good. I'm so sad, I must've had a magical first experience that wasn't meant to be repeated. But moreso because I had promised my friends a good meal and it wasn't by far.
Wow, am I really the first person to yelp about this place?! I'm glad I have the honor! My husband and I came here at the end of June. Before visiting the Anne Frank House, we walked around aimlessly, looking for a place to eat. We are so happy we walked into this restaurant. We sat upstairs, as it was full below. Service was a bit slow, but perhaps as Americans, we aren't used to such leisurely dining. But the food! Oh gosh, the food was amazing! It was like someone's nonna was in the kitchen preparing these delicious meals. I had the Spaghetti Bolognese while the hubby had the Lasagna. Both were top notch! As we left, we talked with the owner, who was definitely from Italy. He spoke some English. But he was warm and very nice. We chatted with him a bit. Whenever we can go back to Amsterdam, we will definitely make a trip to this restaurant. read more
