We raised concerns to the teachers and administration about a pattern of homophobic, racist, and anti-immigrant language being used at school including, at times, during classroom discussions in front of the teachers and were told that the classroom includes students with "differing beliefs" and that our child, who raised objections in some of these instances, needed to be coached at home to tolerate this discriminatory language at school in order to avoid conflict with classmates. We repeatedly explained that our concern was that the language being used in class was not a case of "differing beliefs" but bigoted and discriminatory language that specifically targeted protected groups based on race, religion, immigration status, and identity and that allowing it to continue created a hostile and toxic environment for students from any of those groups. To this, we were told directly and in writing by the head of school, "If every classroom moment is interpreted through the lens of potential third-party offense, classrooms can quickly become places of controversy rather than learning." We decided to withdraw our child's enrollment in the middle of the school year because, after this response from the head of school, the behavior continued in the classroom and we no longer felt it was a safe environment. If your child or family is part of any historically marginalized group, we would not recommend this school. They are able to speak very eloquently about their commitment to diversity and their mission to ensure that no student is targeted, excluded, or harmed based on race, religion, or identity -- but when it comes time to demonstrate that commitment they fall very, very short.

We are also seeing positive behavioral changes with her at home. After only two months in the program, she is speaking about and demonstrating more physical organization. She is getting individuated attention for reading and math, which we love. She continues to be passionate about learning, and there is really nothing better! Being one of the older students in the classroom, she is also learning about leadership, and taking that home to model behavior for her younger sister as well. We are thrilled!

We have one Hitchcock school graduate, now in Kindergarten, and one child currently at Hitchcock school. We have loved absolutely everything about the school. Hitchcock school has the best teachers and directors. Everyone is so caring, nurturing, professional and very experienced. The teachers really understand that every child is unique and give a lot of individual attention to every child. Every teacher, as well as both directors, have amazing experience in being an educator, teaching at Hitchock, or being parents themselves. The playground is new, safe, and really a fantastic area for the kids to play. My kids have played for hours after school hours on the playground with their friends. The indoor gym is a huge, open, bright space for the kids to run around in. The school brings out a variety of things to play with, including my kids favorites - bikes. The classrooms all have lots of windows with great light, always very clean and organized, with a variety of educational toys. The 6 month to 24 month program is very unique and a wonderful opportunity that prepared my child for school at an earlier age, while having fun with friends. The children who were in the toddler program are all ready to go when starting the 2s. In the 2s, 3s, and 4s, the school does an incredible job at teaching. We feel our Hitchcock school graduate is very prepared for Kindergarten, compared to his peers. I am very grateful that they take the time and have great patience when teaching children. The school has a great weekly music program and my kids really enjoy learning many songs. They also have fantastic weekly gymnastics class that my kids love. There are also a lot of extra activies, such as woodworking, animals that are brought in or special shows. We have also really enjoyed the after school lunch bunch and extended day opportunities. My child's favorite extended day program was science. From my experiences with other schools in the area, Hitchcock school is truly the best, and where we choose to send our children.

Both my son and my daughter have received an excellent and safe education here at Ivy Prep in the Bronx. When my child was interviewed for kindergarten, we were told that she is well prepared and will be ahead of her peers with the education and preparation she has received here. My son began his journey with services like OT; PT and SEIT at Ivy prep. They were able to accommodate his service providers within their building and my child was able to receive all of the support he needed. We are so thankful we made the choice to send her to NRDN. From the start, our daughter always told us how much she loved it there and how much she loved her teachers and her friends from class. In Ms. Allison and Ms. Shante's class, her social-emotional learning and academic development were nurtured in a way that produced results that we could see at home. They are both truly gifted educators and foster a Pre-K environment that teaches students how to be part of a team, while thriving as individuals. In 3-K, our daughter attended Ms. Twana and Ms. Silvana's class. She had an amazing time, learned so much, and we were so impressed with what she accomplished. She built such a strong foundation. Prospect Academy is a corner stone of the Russian community in Westchester. Even after that, we continued with Prospect for after-school programs, that my children benefited from tremendously. This school is always coming up with new initiatives - cooking classes, dance classes, outdoor gardens, German or Spanish language programs - it's always fun, new and interesting! We can't say enough about the loving and caring teachers that my children were lucky to be nurtured by. Everyone at Prospect treats us like family. My children have long since graduated, but I keep coming there for the Moms Dance classes every week! The program at the school is full of hands-on education and learning made fun.
