We were away and left our dog with our son and daughter-in-law, where he loves to go. Forgot to give them his meds for thunderstorms and our son said he was frantic last Thursday with storms in North Jersey. I called to see if I could get a small refill sent to CVS in their town and they promptly called, refilled the script and all was well with the next storm on Friday. THEY KILLED MY DOG If I can , I would give them ZERO stars, I took my dog on January 20 for a dental cleaning; they told me that I should do a blood test to make sure my dog was in good health. On January 21 they sent me a text (see photo) confirming that my dog was in good health despite being 14 years old and the appointment for the procedure was made on January 28, I told them to call me before proceeding, Dr. Jeffrey Izzo, was in charge of this, they called me and said that everything had gone very well but because she had an extraction her jaw would be a little misaligned and it would take a few days for her to eat by herself and that maybe she would only be able to eat soft food for the rest of her life, for me it was not alarming because I did not see any problem with her not being able to eat dry food, 3 days went by and my dog did not eat, I called them and they told me to take her in for a check-up, Dr. Robert Moreau, saw her and said that her jaw was broken, I told him that it would be them when they extracted one of her front teeth, he went to make a call to Dr. Izzo and when he came back from the Called, Dr. Robert, he said no, that he was wrong and that it was just a misalignment. , but that she would recover and give her liquid food; they also gave her an injection for the pain so strong that my 6 lb dog could not even stand and had a convulsion. Two weeks went by, and my dog still had not recovered from her jaw. I continued to hand-feed her; I called them again, and they told me to take her. This time, she saw Dr. Andrew H. Levin. He told me that it was strange that she was not eating because he saw her well; this doctor, who should not be called doctor, gave her antibiotics for a full month and some pills for the pain and supposedly anti-inflammatory, but a month went by, and my dog was not recovering. I called them and told them, and finally, they told me that what she needed was a specialist for her jaw and that they would pay. I tried to get an appointment, but it was too late, and the dog DIED. She got weaker and weaker until March 6, when my poor baby could not take it anymore and died. I told them that they had KILLED MY DOG, and the only thing that "Dr. Levin" said was how can we do for you when it is already too late, and nobody could do anything for my poor dog. I told them that I would like a refund of a little more than $ 1300 that I paid for them to KILL MY DOG. I do not doubt that "Dr. Levin" sent me home with that astronomical amount of Antibiotics for a 6 lb dog so that she would die and I would never realize that they broke her jaw. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS TO THIS PLACE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO END UP LIKE ME, WITH YOUR HEART BROKEN INTO PIECES BECAUSE THEY KILLED MY DOG. Had to bring a dog I was fostering to get checked out & Squan Animal Hospital was kind enough to work with the rescue. When I arrived I was greeted by a rather unfriendly staff, with the exception of one. No smiles & barely a greeting at all. I got in quickly to see the doctor however he seemed as unfriendly as the rest of the staff I had encountered. Our visit lasted just a couple of minutes when he told me the dog would have to come back the next day as it was being very uncooperative. I certainly understood & agreed to return the next day. The next day I was greeted by additional staff members with the same demeaner with the exception of the same one from the day before who was actually friendly. I sure wish I would have gotten her name. I did not see the Doctor the 2nd day & only dropped & picked up the dog after a procedure. She seems to be doing better or this would be a 2 star review. I am hoping she continues on this path. After reading all of the reviews I am wondering why everyone seemed to be so unfriendly. If I were to go there with my own dog & receive a lukewarm welcome like that I would be out the door in no time. I can't help but to wonder if it had something to do with the fact that the dog was a rescue dog being fostered; I sure hope not. I won't be bringing my dog there any time soon. read more

I've gone to this vet for years. Hands down the best vet clinic I've gone to in my experience. They are kind and direct, I haven't had any issues with them. I have gone here for years. There is a woman Laura in the office (which is filthy by the way). I left the practice early on and then decided to try to ignore the rudeness and dirt...we went back with our two dogs. After spending over 1,000 dollars this year..on exams and dental cleaning...they forgot to give one of my dogs his shot and then badgered me for months to come in and get it..assuring me I wouldn't pay for another exam...finally I went back and guess what? They wanted me to pay for the exam! The care is minimal, the office is always dirty...debris and hair all over and it smells. They want you to buy products from them that are double the price and they penalize you if you don't by making you jump through hoops to get a prescription from them. The staff is mixed...sometimes you get someone that cares and is knowledgeable and other times it's a bunch of young kids that don't know what they are doing. I wrote the doc a personal letter to let him know what was going on with the staff..I realized that he must be behind all of the nonsense because I never heard back from him. He also has eyes and a nose so he should be able to see his office is filthy. I recently took the two of my dogs to another local vet...the experience was great! And a clean office!! Best local vet without a question. I've been using them for years and have never had an issue. They're great about squeezing in emergencies and the staff is top notch. I worked in the field and managed a local pet resort and used their services on more then one occasion and they never nickel and dime. We brought our dog in today for an anal gland expression/check up and we were in and out in less then ten minutes. Dr. Levin will treat my animals indefinitely. Front office staff super friendly. I wholeheartedly agree with the previous review. Clueless is the key word here. I , too, had a terrible experience with the doctor, involving many tests that were very costly, and completely inconclusive. After going to another veterinary practice that is an exclusively feline practice, I was able to get the necessary treatment for my much beloved cat. A very basic urinalysis had never been ordered, and that was at the center of the problem. Support staff are pleasant, but I do not choose a veterinary practice for the support staff. read more

I recently adopted a cat, and on the advice of my mother I took him to see Dr Levin for his checkup. The experience was wonderful. Dr Levin obviously really cares for his patients. He reviewed the previous exam reports from the shelter and did a thorough check-up. He even opened the window a little bit so that my cat could look outside while we talked about his behavior and eating habits. It is very obvious that Dr Levin loves animals and take the profession very seriously. Everyone is very friendly and they treat the animals as if they were their own. I used to take my dog Mattingly to a large state of the art animal hospital, but everything was so overpriced, AKC insurance would not even cover the full amounts. I then was refered to Squan by her breeders. They have been a breath of fresh air. I highly reccomend. read more

I too started out at a big veterinary hospital--and I still go there for big specialty procedures--but Dr. Levin was more convenient for annual appointments and emergencies.
