It was my first time at Whiting Veterinary after it reopened in 2026. Dr. Leo and her staff took care of my senior kitty when she lost the ability to walk. I thought I was going to have to put her down then and there, but after two days in the hospital, she was able to walk again! She even told me she saw it in the morning but caught herself and said afternoon I saw it in afternoon still nothin. Priorty is not as good as the old Whiting Vets. They are under new owners. I just got back from there with my 2 cats. They were awesome there. Examined them both gave thorough examinations with complete explanations on everything. Yeah, I end up sitting there for a little while waiting them for take me back and then once I was in the room I waited another 15 minutes or so for the vet and then they left me sitting in the room for 20 minutes saying they would be right back And then all of a sudden they came back in and said we're waiting for you at the front counter. These vets are uncaring, rude, dismissive of concerns and did not explain why they are prescribing medication for my dog without test results. My pup had soft stools for a few days so we brought him in. They said he had a rectal polyp but did not explain this could cause diarrhea, instead immediately prescribing a very strong antibiotic for parasites which the test result showed he did not have. I called for rest results, they said 'no parasites'. Then they called the next day to tell us the same thing, did not ask how he was doing, did not offer follow up care or express any concern for his health. Apparently they do not communicate with each other. Also very expensive, $69 for a blood test where his regular vet charged $29 then took it completely off the bill. Avoid this vet if you want good care for your pet. read more

This clinic was only marginal while Dr Shorr ran it but it was good for minor issues. I have been going here for over 25 years when Dr Richie owned it. Now, however, it has new ownership and all I will say is "BEWARE". It is run by people who don't have you or your pets best interest. They are all VERY young and arrogant and most shouldn't be in a career where they deal with animals or humans. My dog was not even examined for the purpose of the appointment (a sudden limp) yet I left withultiple meds for other issues. He has a known partially collapsed treachea and by the time we left he was more wired and breathless than I had ever seen him. As I said, BEWARE. read more

This veterinary clinic is by far is the best vet I have taken my cats to. I moved here 3 years ago and knew I had to find a Vet because one of my cats had bad experiences with getting her nails cut. After trying different vets from here to Pt. Pleasant, I found Whitong Vet. First, they are affordabe and second Dr. Levy is my Vetinarian. From Bergen County to Whiting in the past 13 years, I finally found the best Vetinarian in NJ. Dr. Levy is kind, patient and compassionate. My sweet heart cat could be mean with all Vets, but Dr. Levy knows how to handle her. My other cat is a little testy but Dr Levy knows just how long he has her trust and gets the job done. He explains everything he is going to do. Even the girls in the office are great. Now going to the Vet has now become a great experience. After calling and talking with the office receptionist (did not get her name..we just call her Dragonlady-she earned that) we were looking to bring our cat there for a new patient exam. We booked on-line initially the night before as their site advises (..you would be contacted within certain amount of time.etc etc...) having not heard back, we took more time to call direct in mornIng around opening time... all we can say is the Dragon-Receptionist obviously does not know a thing about customer service. Letting us know they were fully booked for day... She acted like she was doing us a huge favor by over-explaining their on-line appointment booking process. We attempted to bring our older kitty in for a check up in a few environment, new coast (CA to NJ) Wanting to get in to see Dr Schorr. Unfortunately, Dr Schorr, if you are reading this, your receptionist is grossly underqualified in people skills, Customer Service skills or she just hates her job. She was Pathetic, we have gone elsewhere. With such a bad attitude, we would never bring our precious family member there!! Thank god, Whiting Vet Hospital is not the only game around. They killed one of my parents cats!! Last year my parents brought their overweight, elderly cat there. She had trouble with her bowel movements and they tried taking the feces out manually. They pushed down on her back and her back legs so hard it caused one of her legs to become dislocated from her hip socket. The leg couldn't be put back into the socket so there were only 2 options. 1. To have surgery, which she might not make it through because she was so old and she had a heart murmur or 2. leave her like that and let her live the rest of her life in pain without being able to walk the way she used to. My parents didn't want to do the surgery so they let her try to live and hoped that she wouldn't be in pain. Since seeing this vet, her quality of life had gone downhill so much that she couldn't even walk anymore. All she could do was take 3 or 4 steps at a time. Eventually they had to put her to sleep because she was in too much pain. What kind of veterinarian is so ignorant that they pushed down on her back and her back legs so hard it caused one of her legs to become dislocated from her hip socket??? That's just flat out uncaring ignorance if you ask me. This place should have their license taken away and they should not be in business. read more

I met Dr. Ranney for the first time after adopting my pet cat, Spirit, from the Jackson, NJ shelter, last Saturday and brought him here through a referral. She and Marcella were so friendly with Spirit during his exam. They had a real nice bed-side manner with animals, and people as well, and so does Dr. Ranney's staff!! I can tell from speaking to Dr. Ranney and watching her during Spirit's exam that she is very experienced with animals! She is a Top-Notch Veterinarian!! Everyone is this practice is awesome. My parents have been going for years and they were very helpful when our family dog needed surgery. My husband and I have been bringing our 2 puppies there for months. We go every few weeks with all the booster shots. We are always given the time we need and they help answer all questions. The reception staff is very helpful as well. I am so glad we have found a Vet that treats our dogs as their own. read more

Everyone at this site has been courteous and professional. They rigidly adhere to best practices and explained the necessity of tests that they perform. As to the other reviewers negative comments I can only say you should always go to the vet with realistic expectations. If your animal is elderly and severely ill prior to going in, then don't expect miracles. read more

I have been bringing my dogs in for years. Starting with Heidi our cairn terrier and more recently Oreo our Pomeranian. Both dogs had surgery at different times for different issues and both times totally successful. The staff is excellent - caring and very professional. We have been taking our dog, Roxy, there for over 8 years. We have always been treated with the utmost care, and the staff is professional, honest and warm. We find, in particular, Dr. Shorr to be extremely knowledgeable and always came up with a solution to issues we may have encountered. Because of Roxy's age and many ailments, we had to put Roxy down yesterday. The dignity in which we were treated was outstanding. I thank the entire staff for there kindness through the years. Roxy had been well taken care of and we highly recommend them to everyone. Of course, when we eventually adopt a rescue, we will be going back, but with a new addition to our family.
