When we first arrived it was queued out the door, ok it's a small entrance way but that still meant there was at least a dozen people ahead of us. Thankfully we were quickly ushered inside and while we still had a 15 minute wait for a table for 4, and we could spend that time at the bar. The bar has a decent selection of the usual favourites. It's a bit short on good beer/ale but does have Brooklyn larger on draught. They also have their very own larger, which to be honest was unimpressive. It tasted very weak with no strong flavours and a distinct lack of hops. I would describe it like sex in a canoe, f**king close to water. If you're a Bud or Coors lite drinker you'll likely enjoy it. But you don't come here for the booze. The burger menu was impressive, the smallest they do is a double and every burger comes with a long list of toppings. Some crowd pleasures feature, candied bacon, pepper jack cheese, BBQ onions, but there are also some weird and wonderful additions such as crunchy pretzels, frazzles (yes the crisps!) and even beerios, which are some sort of beer infused cheerios, they only appear on their breakfast burger. I had the river phoenix, a double cheese burger with bacon, BBQ onions, chipotle sauce, baconaise and the aforementioned frazzles. The burger was delicious, the meat was good quality and well cooked, although it did get lost under the vast amount of different toppings. As sides we had their chilli cheese fries and suicide wings. The fries were excellent, a mixture of regular and sweet potato fries. They were cut to just the right thickness and had a nice crunch while still being fluffy on the inside. There wasn't quite as much chilli as I'd have liked but other than that the fries were perfect. However I was disappointed in the suicide wings. I'm a big hot sauce fan and they were pretty mild. I would have liked for them to have been a lot hotter. I was expecting ghost pepper heat and only got Jalapeño. It's not full waiter service as you do have to order and pay at the bar. But the staff were pleasant and the queues were short so I didn't mind. Our four burgers (3 doubles and a triple), two portions of fries and a portion of wings came to a very reasonable £40.

Since I had never had one prepared that way, I thought I'd give it a try. I enjoyed the experience. The perfect size rib eye steak was brought out with beautiful grill marks, sizzling on a hot stone for me to finish the cooking to my preferred state of doneness (medium rare of course). I sprinkle on a little salt & pepper, flipped it over twice until it had a nice sear & was ready to go. The flavor of the meat was great, it was a perfect medium rare. The experience was worth it. Going into the restaurant, it felt like a traditional old pub, yet with the Honest Burgers charm, the interior is a decent size with tables suited to both small and larger parties. It was surprisingly quiet when I visited, at one point I was the only diner inside. Obviously, with them being so down from Bold Street, it is a bit of a walk from the One and the rest of the centre to get here, so you're passing so many burger places as well as the big chains, as well as other cuisines, making me wonder if they'd be better located elsewhere in the city. I decided to go for the Liverpool Special Burger, one of the coolest things about Honest Burgers is that each location has its exclusive burger, to go alongside the regular menu. The Head Chef normally designs it, and sometimes it is a collaboration between a local business. I also like how pretty much all the menu can be made gluten-free, just pay an extra £0.30 for a gluten-free bun. The Liverpool burger is a buttermilk fried chicken breast with American cheese, salt & pepper stir-fried veg, sriracha mayo, lettuce and pickles. It's like a twist on the salt and pepper chips you get from a Chinese but in a chicken burger form. My usual Honest order is the Smashed Burger, but I just had to try the Liverpool special while visiting the city. The burger was really good, although the gluten-free bun didn't hold together well with so many fillings, and I originally couldn't find the bottom in my plate, all the components came together really well and tasted so good, the chicken was crispy, the sriracha mayo added a kick of spice and ensured it wasn't dry, the salt and pepper stir-fried veg was excellent and had so much flavour, I would have never thought to combine it with chicken before, but now I can't think of anything else. I ended up talking to my server at the end of my meal, about the local burger who told me some interesting information about how it works, and I much preferred this one to the local burger at my local Honest in Manchester. The rosemary-salted chips were also pleasant, not the best fries in the fast food game, but they certainly were good and tasted fresh. The staff members working were friendly, although they didn't seem to have much to do as they were almost empty they were talking to themselves but were doing this out of the way of customers, while still checking in the dining room every couple of minutes to ensure customers aren't left without anything they need which was a nice approach. 4* - My food was really good, the staff were friendly, and I would return here on future trips to Liverpool.

This branch of Five Guys on Queens Square is one of two branches Five Guys have in the city, from…read morethe outside you can see it looks both bigger and better than the other branch on the top floor of the Liverpool One nearby, Having wanted to revisit Five Guys for a while after a good experience in Bradford and a not so good experience in Manchester, I thought this branch of Five Guys would be a good shout - and I'm glad I did. The service here was fantastic, to the point where I feel extra and special praise has to go to Gary for making my visit even more special, he made sure I was okay, helping with tables and even bringing my food over to me and providing me with a new bag and cutterly to take home my leftovers (the portion sizes here are huge!), he also helped offer recommendations and we began to chat a little, overall service was excellent. When ordering, I was also presented with a little piece of card to show what I could eat, and it seemed to include everything other than an HP sauce and of course the burger bun. The overall feel of the store was good, it had traditional Five Guys decor with the signs and bags of potatoes on the shop floor, but inside it did seem much nicer than the Manchester Arndale and Bradford branches I've previously visited. I ordered a Cheeseburger in a bowl, having disliked the lettuce wrap option as it seemed like it would be messy and make the burger cold, and the regular option with a bun wouldn't be suitable for me, the bowl did seem a little squashed and messy with a low of toppings, however, like all the cups/cutterly etc it was aimed towards takeout. The extras I ordered were: ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, gherkins, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms, in my opinion, it was slightly messy but still most of it was good quality, other than the lettuce I found to be a little watery and the mushrooms a little slimy. My overall burger quality was good, although it could have been slightly presented better to avoid the cheese being slightly uneven, the portion size as mentioned was good with two thinner burgers rather than one big thick one, which some burger joints such as GBK use, I prefer the Five Guys approach. The fries also were great, despite ordering a small portion my bag was overflowing with fries, the cajun spices also added a nice flavour to it to make them even better, rather than the traditional seasoning used. The Coca-Cola Freestyle machine also is a pretty awesome, niche feature combining some of the most common Coca-Cola drinks from Coke (including all low sugar models) to Sprite to Fuze Tea, with my favourite fizzy drink being Sprite Zero, I combined this with vanilla to have an enjoyable beverage, I then combined vanilla with the fuze tea and also had a nice drink - for one cup it comes with free refills and with the quality of drinks on offer and the selection meaning you virtually can't get these drinks in any other stores or places, it is well worth buying a drink, and that comes from someone who generally prefers dining with tap water. Prices were slightly higher than you'd expect at Mcdonald's, and on par for a standard burger, my food came to around £11 but for the quality you don't mind paying those prices, this place is more of a fast-food restaurant than a casual or regular dining restaurant, although it does have quite a lot of seating due to the size of the store being large, slightly similar to what one would expect in an American diner, with tall tables, bar style tables and red booths. Five Guys also delivers via Deliveroo, however I find this service to be a tad overpriced compared to the general in-store experience, although out of all the restaurants on the site from Nandos to Pizza Express, I feel one of the few places actually suited to Deliveroo is Five Guys, so it is a good service to offer here, although the only time I'd ever think of using it would be when I'm staying in a hotel in Liverpool, not being from the area, and even then I'd be reluctant due to the delivery charge even to go such a short distance, for example they'd even charge the £2.50 or so delivery fee to go a short distance, although I admit this is not something Five Guys have control over with this being set by Deliveroo but it is still worth making note of. Overall, I am impressed with Five Guys, although it remains a real shame that unlike some "restaurants" which specialise in burgers including Handmade Burger Co and Gourmet Burger Kitchen, the latter actually has a branch in Liverpool's city centre in the One, the burger quality remains better and the same can be said about the service and the overall feel of this place, so despite flaws mentioned, the quality of food and service and the portion sizes (you probably get as many chips here as a large somewhere else) a four-star rating is surely warranted for Five Guys at Queens Square in Liverpool.

It has a large car park on site which never seems to get full, even on a Sunday. The interior of the pub looks expensive, well maintained, clean and tidy. The decor is homely and comfortable. When you enter you are asked to wait there to be seated, it took a minute for someone to come and see us but when they did we were quickly shown to a nice table, presented with our menus and our drinks order was taken. The pub is very spacious, with a lot of tables for diners, and comfier area's for people who are just there for a drink. When we were there the football was on, but this only resulted in a distant cheer (or boo) every now and then, and didn't disrupt our evening. The menu has a lot of choice. There is a carvery available 7 days a week but there are also many other options available. I went with my parents who are both pensioners, and as they were members of the pubs "Diamond Club" which is for the over 50's, they were able to get 2 courses for a mere £6.25. This includes the carvery which is usually £7.25. After agonising for a while I chose the "'Brown's of Kirkconnel' black pudding and bacon fritter. Topped with red onion chutney and a poached egg" for starters. This was possibly the best black pudding I have ever tasted. It was rich and succulent without being overly fatty. It was so delicious and just the right size for a starter. For my main course I chose the Ultimate Burger - "Hand pressed Farm Assured Saxon British beef burger and half chicken breast, topped with melted Taw Valley mature Cheddar, smoky chilli bourbon sauce and crispy onions. Served with hand cut potato wedges." This came on a trendy square plate and looked very impressive (and huge) when I was served it. This was simply divine. The burger was delicious and the bacon and chicken were cooked to perfection. The wedges were also delicious and very moreish. For pudding I had Gingerbread flavoured Penna cotta with a homemade honey wafer. I've never had Penna cotta before but I thought I'd give it a go. It was so delicious, creamy and indulgent. But at the same time it was light and refreshing. I was actually sad when I finished the desert as I wanted more! The service at Five Ways is excellent. You don't have to wait long for your starters to be served, and once the plates are taken away the main course is brought to you quickly. The same happened when we ordered our deserts. The staff are friendly and very helpful. They are happy to chat and crack a joke whilst taking your order. They keep an eye on you whilst you are eating, coming over to check everything is perfect with your food, and taking orders for further drinks. I had an excellent meal here. I had previously only had the carvery but I thought I'd try something else and I was glad I did as it was amazing. I can't fault this place at all.

Dessert was a biscoff cheesecake... my husband doesn't usually eat dessert but we had it twice!! Lovely atmosphere and great service both nights!
