He was recommended to us by a friend who used his service for her wedding and she could not start talking about how much fun he was. Chris chatted with us on the phone prior to the official booking to let us know his style and to find out what we were looking for. My husband and I could tell he was the one from our initial conversation, as we felt like we knew him already. Chris then met up with us a few weeks before the wedding to put our minds at ease by going over all the basic. He has a great site he gives you a login/password to once you book with him. The site allows you to create a playlist, a do not playlist, and select things such as your first dance, parents dances, bouquet toss, etc. Super easy to use and gives you ideas for songs as well. We did not have a band for our ceremony, so Chris provided all the music for our bridal party and my entrance. He also mic'd up our officiant and my husband which was really helpful as the venue did not provide this for us. Light music was also provided for our cocktail hour, then the real fun started! Chris did something very unique as far as introducing our bridal party which we are still receiving compliments about. Prior to the wedding, Chris had us fill out brief questionnaires about our bridal party and then had my husband and I separately fill our brief questionnaires about each other. Some example questions would be: tell me an embarrassing story about so and so or voted most likely to. It created a very fun set of unique introductions, making everyone laugh and our bridal party to have their own special moment. For our introduction, our quests got to hear our love story and some funny moments created throughout our relationship. After the intros and speeches (which Chris also provided the mics for), our dance floor was jumping for the next three hours. Everyone danced nonstop as the music was absolutely perfect and kept the dance floor packed with at least 100 guests at all times. I could not recommend Chris Marx enough and our wedding would not have been the same without him! Book him, you will have an absolutely perfect wedding! PS: he also took a video of our ceremony, the speeches, and our intros and sent them to me after the wedding. This was extremely thoughtful and unexpected, we were almost sorry we booked a videographer! Haha Thanks again Chris, we will find a reason to work with you again in the near future!

Beware! Out of over 500 reviews, I've only given a handful of poor reviews. I gave all the vendors…read moreat my wedding 5 stars except for Mike. As Mike has been in the business for 20 years and the glowing reviews on Yelp, WeddingWire, and the Knot, I made the mistake of booking him. Mike loves to march to his own beat and is extremely disorganized, ill-prepared, lazy, inattentive to details, unprofessional, outdated, lackadaisical, and quite frankly a bozo. While I was impressed by all of the vendors at my wedding, I was seething and cringing by Mike's countless mistakes. As other Yelpers have noted, Mike is highly skilled at mixing beats for Hindu/American fusion weddings and getting everyone to hit the dance floor. However, Mike caters to the crowd rather than to the bride and groom. There's "no magic", here are Mike's top 8 blunders which I confronted him at the end of my wedding night: #1: Using an old schedule that was 2 months old! After 3 phone calls with Mike and sending him a few revised schedules based on feedback that he provided, he used the 1st schedule that I sent him with wrong bridal party names, songs, and times! He neglected all of the changes that we discussed on the phone and failed to use the new schedule that I sent a week before the wedding like he requested. When 5 names are mentioned, but only 2 women and a man walk out to "Sister Sledge" playing, that's a blunder! #2: Missing Cues/Repeated stepping of glasses. My fiancee and I are highly private people and don't enjoy long kissing sessions in front of our parents and friends. We actually took out all kissing pics from our slideshow. During the reception, after a big frown and shaking of the head after the 1st stemming of glasses, Mike initiated and continued to round up the crowd for additional stemming of glasses. It got so bad that some of the bridal party members broke some of the glasses in retailation. The stemming of the glasses is a topic that I also wish Mike discussed with us before the wedding so we could have easily prevented this embarrassing mishap. #3 Announcing the grooms name first and then the bride's name. A big no-no! "Peter and Aarti Pruitt". Mike believes in men first, even at weddings. #4 Playing songs on the "Do NOT play list". I hate "Gangnam Style" with a passion and it was among the 20 don't play list. Not only did Mike happily play the song, but he refused to change the song when I asked him to! That wasn't the only one... #5 Begging for a Big Tip. Mike isn't shy about charging top dollar $3K and the audacity to ask my father for a big tip before the event! The bozo loves to overpromise and underdeliver. My dad was way too nice to tip him $200. As a firm believer of tips, I honestly would NOT tip him. #6: Trying to Upsell at the WRONG time. Mike and I had a couple of minutes before the reception started. Rather than using this crucial time to discuss making any last-minute changes to the schedule (ex. moving things up as we wanted to skip sunset pics due to the weather), instead Mike kept trying to repeatedly sell us on the dhol guy. I hate BHANGRA, why would I pay extra for it? #7 Forgetting to play the cake cutting song. I was looking forward to hearing my favorite Baby Love during the cake cutting, too bad I never got the chance to hear it! #8 Not taking full ownership. After confronting Mike about all of the blunders listed above, he kept deflecting and making excuses. Despite repeated emails and phone calls before the wedding, Mike was very ill-prepared and was "winging" it at the wedding with sheepish grins. While I appreciate Mike's apology for his mistakes in a follow-up email that he sent, he doesn't take away from the painful memories that I experienced due to his careless mistakes. He single-handedly ruined the reception. Not once did Mike make it about the bride and the groom, it was more of Mike's day and pleasing the crowd. If you want to make your day special, I recommend tuning him out and enjoying the beat of someone else.

We had a wonderful reception! JP was our DJ and he was personable, responsive to our emails and texts, and knowledgeable in answering our many questions! The music selection website was also easy to use and connect to our Spotify playlist. JP was easy to get along with and he was even kind enough to have a Tide-To-Go pen on hand and cleaned my wedding dress when I spilled chocolate sauce on it! The dancing with the clouds was amazing and elevated our first dance to look straight out of a fairy tale, and the sparklers shot out at the perfect moment of our lift. The traditional photo booth was more cramped than we expected, so if we knew the small size we may have opted for a different type of photo booth, but it seemed to not bother our guests and was a good size for fitting 4 people. We also love the photo booth souvenir book that Posh DJs prepared for us that was really clean and well-organized. JP did play all our must-play songs and songs from our "play if possible" list, and also did play the requested instrumental music during dinner. On the day of the wedding, we were worried that our guests wouldn't dance during reception so we let him know that we were okay if he played some songs off our list to get the crowd going. Later, we weren't sure if we should have given that direction since the first dance set had too many songs that we DIDN'T know. (My husband and I are not familiar with older songs, so we didn't recognize any of those songs in the first dance set). However, JP checked in with us after the first dance set and we asked him if he could play more songs from our playlist and we were happier with our second and third dance sets. We had discussed with JP during our final call that we wanted to do a napkin game to "raffle" off the centerpieces to our guests, but on the day before the wedding we had squeezed in last minute sparklers (we didn't think it was possible to light them since it was pouring rain, but we ended up being able to when the venue told us we could have sparklers on a covered patio), so in all the commotion we had forgotten about the napkin game and most of the centerpieces were left at the venue, which I wish we could have distributed to our guests. But overall, I am happy with Posh DJs and JP and thank you for contributing to our magical wedding!

YAY for yelp for posting REAL reviews by REAL people and monitoring it!

All around, everyone at Unforgettable DJs was a pleasure to work with. My wife and I went off book in a lot of ways, ignoring a lot of typical wedding tropes to try and make the event something to really represent us, and Chris was right there with us the entire time. He was great about setting up meetings to talk through our plans, and helped a great deal in taking the random collection of ideas we compiled, and fine tuning them into exactly what we were looking for. Chris is really knowledgable about the dynamics of a wedding how crowds respond, what they expect, what kinds of music works best in what scenarios, etc. This kind of expertise was invaluable in figuring out how we could make everything work. Chris even had some great ideas of his own that really helped bring everything together. He hooked us up with uplighting, which really added a nice touch to the venue (we got married in a huge art gallery). And we were even able to book an awesome Red Carpet Photo Booth for the guests, which everyone loved. During the wedding itself, Chris did a great job of setting a fun and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. He really connected with the crowd, and was very responsive to the mood of the room. A lot of the music we selected wasn't really common for a wedding, but Chris managed to put it together in such a way that people really responded to it. Overall, we put a lot on Chris and his team to dictate the flow of the evening, since we weren't doing a typical sit-down dinner, but they did an amazing job keeping everything on track, while still feeling spontaneous. Since the wedding we've gotten a lot of compliments on it, and had several people ask for Chris' contact information to pass along to people they know getting married (which I think says far more than this long sprawling review could).
