The most awesome thing that has ever happened during my workday happened today. My boss came in from walking her dog and sort-of breathlessly started telling me about the petting zoo outside. "Um, what? Where?" I asked. "Outside, two doors down. It's June's birthday." Huh? Still confused, I went out to discover that the sweet lady who works a couple of doors down turned 90, and her coworkers arranged for a "Squeals on Wheels" birthday party. Have you seen the video of Kristen Bell when she gets to see a sloth? That's pretty much how I felt. Neighbors had gathered around with expressions on their faces that said "how did all this magic happen here?" I am not sure I've ever seen so much cuteness crammed into one small space. I was first greeted by a humming llama, and then spotted a miniature horse nibbling away at the grass, and then noticed the assortment of ridiculously cute bunnies hopping around in a pen, and then I saw THE MOST ADORABLE TWO WEEK OLD GOAT in the history of the world, and then more rabbits, and another goat, and some teacup piglets, and a bird... The owners, Jill and John, were patient, friendly and informative. Anyone could pet and hold the animals, but they made sure that the were handled and held appropriately and humanely. A younger child was overly excited and not being supervised enough by his mother. John was firm in asking her to control him make sure he didn't mishandle the animals, but also addressed it in a calm, non-threatening way. The birthday girl was outside in her pearls checking out the pacing llama and laughing. Children as young as 2 and the 90-year-old birthday girl and everyone in between were enchanted by the experience. They also breed teacup pigs and blue-eyed Holland Lop bunnies. I think a few there today were already "adopted," but hadn't gone to their forever homes yet. Jill asked if I could send her a couple of photos I had taken of one of the pigs, because his adoptive family had asked to see some before they could bring him home. Based on what I witnessed of their care and handling, I think they seem like very honest, caring breeders. This was truly one of the most magical, memorable things I have ever experienced. I've been to a few petting zoos that seemed a bit chaotic and cruel to the animals. These animals all seemed very healthy and happy, and it was clear that they are well cared for and loved. I'd recommend them for kids' parties--or any party! I definitely hope to see them again. I'm already plotting with my friends to figure out a "happy hour"!

Amazing people. Adopted my little piggy from there. He's a brilliant little guy and they had him prepared for his forever home. He was litter trained with them, but once he got home and outside on his leash he didn't want to use the litter box and has been going potty outside ever since. He's so smart he almost trained us more then we trained him. He is also sitting and spinning on request. The few concerns I had with him being snarky were quickly addressed by Jill's suggestions. Many simple problems had simple things to correct them that I probably wouldn't have figured out without squeals on wheels. Any future pigs we may decide to adopt will come from squeals on wheels! Their love and attention shows in this little piggy.

Prince the miniature horse as princess the unicorn.

We hired squeals on wheels to bring a miniature horse to my preschool aged daughters birthday party. We were having a unicorn theme, and Jill dressed "prince" up as a unicorn (complete with a furry unicorn horn topper, pink cloth under the saddle, ribbons, etc.). He was a huge hit with everyone. The kids were thrilled at being able to ride a "unicorn" and he was very gentle and calm around the preschool aged kids. We had a couple of kids under 2 who were not at all afraid of riding him. In addition, Jill was a complete pleasure to work with. She was helpful, responsive, friendly, and reliable. As a bonus the service was very reasonable priced. They brought their petting zoo to our preschool's spring fair and it was also a huge hit with the kids to be able to hold and interact with the animals. I will without question hire them again for a future event.

I recently adopted my mini pig, Hamlet, from Jill of Squeals on Wheels. I did a lot of research beforehand and still did not expect him to be so intelligent and well behaved at 7 weeks old! Jill informed me that he had been to several petting zoos and was used to many people and lots of attention!! She gave my husband and I a lot of valuable information and generally cares for each and every pig while ensuring that they go to a great home. I would highly recommend Squeals on Wheels if you are looking to adopt a piggy or have some fun with a petting zoo. These people know their stuff and are animal lovers!

My 6 year old daughter loved this birthday party, and so did everyone else. It was easy as can be for us adults-- the organizers make it all a cinch and are great with kids and animals alike. Everyone loved seeing, holding and petting the animals. The bunnies, chicks, ducks and mini-horse Prince were all fab! What a special party. Thank you for a wonderful experience. I recommend Squeals on Wheels to all!

Squeals on wheels was amazing for my daughter's 10th birthday party. Kate was so professional and fun. She answered all of our questions, let both parents and children interact with the animals, and made sure we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend SOW for boys and girls of all ages. Thank you for making our birthday party one we will never forget!

"This has never happened before" claimed Katherine. Unprofessional and unethical. Dog is a beautiful mix but the papers given to me by Katherine at adoption indicated a lab/miniature poodle and there is NO poodle in this dog! Breeder on papers indicate Amish. Again issue of morality with inaccurate papers. He had been re-homed/fostered several times by five months and that should have alerted me. Good natured and sweet but does not know when to stop whatever he is involved in, especially play with other dogs or children, is rough and extremely strong at 60 lb. According to a top/well known trainer in Potomac, "it is in the wiring" and he is not invited back to her facility. Fortunately, another excellent trainer is a family friend and does take him with the understanding that he stays with the humans rather than the other dogs, whom he tortures. Now I adore him, sharing my bed, and giving him Prozac twice a day plus CBD oil on particularly bad days. No dog parks for him though.

When I visited the first time, a lap cat who was just spayed, locked her eyes on me....I thought a match! The large man working at the facility said the cat was not up for adoption. He also did not tell me ANYTHING about the process and need to file an "application" online. He only said, after much prodding, it would be a few weeks before the cat would be up for adoption, and I should check back on the website in a few weeks. I will say he was very "STAND-OFF-ISH" to me for an unknown reason. I came back the next week, and the cat was not there. I was told from a more friendly man, that the cat was having its stiches removed and another week or so before the cat would be ready for adoption. But unfortunately, he too did not tell me about the adoption process and need for an online application. Why would people whom are trying to get animals adopted, not tell them about the application process? WHAT ELSE ARE THEY HIDDING?

I have donated to multiple organizations monthly base, raising fund for good purpose, money is not a problem for me. However, I don't want to reward bad behaviors. The missing time for my cat and the one they posted online matches and the very detailed stripes pattern matches. It's questionable that one employee said she from North Carolina, another one said she from West Virginia. I have my cat since she was born, I can recognize this cat from eye contact. Well, if you know your children, you know them by the spirit, right? I sent them many details to JUST take a look, they refused. It's not built to help ppl or animals at all. I will show how my cat look like and how sick she is now in their foster home. I'm deeply saddened and worried about her. She is territorial as a cat does. She has been a happy cat in her own home, wtf they think this is a rescue. Now I have to either kiss their ass or be assertive to fight against this negativity just to get her rescued from these horrible ppl. F that! If they don't practice as ethical as it should be, this is a big big issue! I put the photos of how my cat looked before and how she looks now in their foster homes(one with name caption) I am seriously furious and frustrated about this. If they couldn't give me an explanation why they made it so difficult to meet the cat. I have to say I will use my popularity and influence to the extreme to make things right!!!

My relationship with Wolftrap began at college when my sorority would volunteer for their puppy shipment days. It was like a conveyor belt of puppy services one of us would hold a puppy while they got wiped down, flea and tick protection was applied to their coat, and then the vet Dr. Amber Burton would give them their necessary vaccines before they went to their foster homes. Basically this rescue does the Lords work, no exaggeration! They are a nonprofit based out of Vienna Virginia and they bring truck is full of puppies and kittens that they save from kill shelters in Louisiana. In college, I fostered a kitten and now as an adult with my own home I took on fostering two puppy littermates last week!! Christmas and donkey have been such a blessing they are precious angel souls. This rescue makes the process easy. First you go online and you apply to be a Foster, then you are scheduled to have a phone call with a foster team member to ensure you understand the process and responsibility. Based on that you can sign up for available pup shipments! Shipments are usually available on a biweekly basis. The foster period lasts three weeks in which during the time you will take care of them and provide them basic training plenty of love and hopefully find their perfect FUR-ever home and match them up with the best family to suit thier individual personalities. You also go online to fill out adoption forms! I picked up the puppies the day they came in transported them to my home gave them a quick bath since they had just come from the Place That Shall Not Be Named, fed them, provided them with puppy pads and multiple toys that the rescue provided me. They have since been dropped off this morning to get neutered free of cost to the foster or to the family. I chose to take in 2 siblings but you can also chose to just take in 1 pup or kitten. As A foster- my responsibility is to escort these puppies to the meet and greets with potential new owners - the rescue handles the coordination between people who applied online and email me directly phone number so that I can contact them. PLEASE sign up if you are able and love animals and want to make a difference. Often they are in NEED of fosters to be able to continue their good deeds!! Adoption fees are very manageable $525 for a pup?! In summary- fostering has been a pleasure of my life. Thank you WolfTrap for all you do!!!!

I found a few cats I liked on Petfinder, so I called Glenda and she invited me to see them at her house. I'm not sure exactly how many cats are involved with Puden's, but I do know that its WAY more then the 4 are shown on Petfinder. At Glenda's, my boyfriend and I were seated in her closed living room. She then brought us cats, let us meet them, took them back out and gave us more cats. Overall we met about a dozen cats. This woman has a lot of cats. We really liked about 4, but fell in love with one (a flame point Siamese named Honey Dew Drops- we changed her name). We then filled out an application (address, vet, references, etc) and left. 5 days later Glenda called us and told us to come pick up the cat! While skitzy at first, the cat we adopted is by far the best cat I've owned. Its very high quality- loves strangers, sits in your lap and fetches. (As far as I can tell, Glenda hand picks Siamese cats (and some others) from shelters, and breeders give her animals that are not quite right- like runts, etc) Basically, if you want to adopt a cat I recommend Glenda and Puden's Place. Weirder then your average shelter/rescue, yes, but you get to adopt a hand picked cat. Glenda will tell you all about the cat's habits, if its a good choice for you (active, lazy, attention hog, etc). So much better than visiting a shelter and you still get to save a life! Just a note: If you suffer from migraines, this foster home is not a good place for you to visit.

Fast forward to Friday and I received an email from Ming that the dog had gotten adopted and my visit was cancelled. My heart was broken. I stopped by the next day, took the dog for a walk around the neighborhood and then signed all of the paperwork and paid the adoption fee. It's important to note that the CARE team works on a first-come, first-serve basis, so the dog you're looking at could easily get adopted before you get the chance to make it to your scheduled visit. I would've appreciated the team letting me know someone else was also in the adoption process/looking at the dog so I wouldn't have been so surprised.
