The renter confirmed that they do the cleaning themselves and it's evident. Pillow cases had stains on them, fridge and freezer had crumbs and hair in them. There should be a professional cleaner going in and sanitizing after every guest. Several things were broken (and honestly, dangerous). The door locks are also not in good shape. There is no deadbolt on the front or back door. The front door lock was literally being held together by BAND AIDS! Yes BANDAIDS. Ironically enough they had a sign next to the front door warning about bears in the area LOL. The patio fairy lights were not working. There's a floodlight that is on a minute timer so we kept having to move around if we wanted any lighting in the front porch or in the backyard where the hot tub is. If you get into the hot tub after dark, good luck, bring your own lights unless you want complete darkness. We specifically rented this cabin for the hot tub but it did not work. We followed the instructions posted. The "heating" light was on. We waited 45 minutes and the temperature didn't move a single degree. When we raised these concerns to Sandy and Bob, they were sarcastic and rude. Even after seeing the pictures with the proof. They claimed that all of our issues were because the home was "historic". Historic does NOT mean dirty and broken and unsafe. Imagine going to a historic museum and seeing things held together with band aids?! So just know that if you book and have any issues, they will not give a care in the world!

Their properties are always sparkling clean and stocked with everything you need. They're knowledgeable and will help you in any way. We first stayed at one of their properties in Cascade in 1999. From the moment we met them, we were endeared to them and as these 20 years have rolled by, they remain some of our best friends. INTIMIDATING Dog Policy…read more I understand - some previous visitors felt "intimidated" by a 50+ pound Dog so now the rest of us can't stay here as large Dogs aren't allowed. So unfortunate. Yellow Pine Ranch is where I learned about nature in the 1980s: "Cocklebur" the donkey who lived in the grassy field outside our cabin - he happily ate our hand-fed carrots. Horseback riding with my ol' friend "Taco," the great white horse with brown spots. And hummingbirds that would happily sit on your finger. My Senior Retrievers have traveled to Italy, the Texas Coast, and are possibly more well-behaved than some humans. It saddens my heart that a place nestled in what my Dad called "God's Country" doesn't welcome God's creatures. The management here could benefit from a reality check. So I don't meet their reservation requirements. I'm fine with that. Room was cute but there there were black curly hairs all over the bathroom (I'm bald and my girlfriend that joined me is blonde)...coffee maker had old coffee grounds in it and the fridge had old noodles in a Tupperware container. Furnace shook the floor/walls and was very loud. There was an uncomfortable daybed where a couch would have been preferred. Place sure looks cute - great character in the building and the gardens are eclectic and fun looking...poor execution makes this a place I will not revisit, which is unfortunate as it has potential.

I found mouse feces and urine on the white bed sheets, that was the last straw, after letting Anne (owner) know that we were no longer going to stay she refused give me a full refund stating that we didn't let her know soon enough but she never stated that there was a time frame for cancellations, and for weeks ignored my phone calls and emails to discuss this matter, I am still waiting on a refund!!!! I recommend staying else where in Crestone, Co that is more accommodating and has clean bed sheets!!!

This place is also very, very clean - they really put their attention on ensuring you feel safe staying in the space. Since we were in the family suite, we had our own private entrance, so we never disturbed other guests, or vice versa. It was a bit warm the weekend we were there, but there is a small window unit and some fans to help circulate air. Only drawback is that Westcliffe is a ranching-heavy community, so expect to smell field manure...depending on wind direction, you may not want to keep your windows open!

The suite was so nice but the screen in the windows needed to be replaced and the one looked like it was going to fall out the window. Overall it was great with a beautiful view of the mountains. Thank you to the owners we loved our night.
