Goddard teachers are exceptional, they make a concerted effort to develop relationships with their students and their families, and day to day activities are thoughtful, engaging, and focused on learning. Our kids often had much to say about what they did at school that day and we greatly enjoyed seeing their photos and the outline of their day through the Tadpoles application. The Goddard leadership team was always accessible and available. Their commitment to consistent and transparent communication was something we valued and certainly, as we progressed through different stages of the pandemic, their frequent updates and willingness to listen and discuss policies and actions taken speaks to their integrity and interest in keeping students in class and well. Beyond the staff, the Goddard facility is impeccable, it's clean and fully furnished with books, toys, and learning resources. While our time at Goddard is ending, we are so glad to share our family's experience, and encourage all seeking child care to visit, take a tour, and meet the staff.

I'm a 23 year old single, working mom of two under two, so I can definitely get irritable with new people and I am very particular about my children. I ALMOST did not continue care because of a tad bit of miscommunication but I thank God himself that one of the teachers chased me out to explain everything to me. The directors were very accountable and were/are very understanding when it came to my reaction. 2. My eldest daughter went through a rough transition into daycare. (We literally have been inseparable since the day I met her) We have been to 5 different daycares solely because she was not adjusting to not being at home with me. The first two weeks were very hard; from the tantrums every morning. Ms. Rosa and Ms. Marcella were so patient with her and ME! My baby runs into the building to anyone who opens that door. 3. I am not used to packing lunches and I would feel bad about whether I was doing it right. Ms. Erica and Ms. Ichi gave me so much advice and reassurance about packing lunch with a picky eater. They helped me through my daughter's lactose intolerant issues and were very understanding and reassuring about babies eating habits. Now my kids are well on schedule and I don't have that mommy insecurity anymore. 4. SUPER SHOUTOUT TO MS.ALMAYA She is nurturing, sweet, caring, gentle, grace-handling teacher I've ever met. This is the first person I have ever seen my oldest run to, to be consoled. MY daughter will NOT let anyone do her hair. But don't let Ms. Almaya be in that room, these babies be sitting down perfectly for her. She has a soft spot for every single one of these children and you can feel her glow as soon as she spots one of her students. Evangel Christian Child Care Center did their big one hiring her. You can tell she loves being there! 5. My preemie daughter who was supposed to go into an under developed program is now on track with all her milestones, has successfully transitioned onto formula (with the patience of Ms. Marsella and Ms. Rosa) and Lord knows I struggled getting my exclusive breast fed baby on a bottle in general. My daughter is crawling and trying to stand up all within 2 weeks at 8 months and she wasn't even sitting up last month. I don't know where ECCCC are finding these teachers, but if they are coming out the same pot for the grade schools, this generation of babies, toddlers, and children are going to be extraordinary. 6. Don't get me started about these children... the manners these toddler boys are learning first of all... everyday I come in its always a child waiting for all the 5:45pm moms to arrive to hold the door open for us. While mom/dad is saying "okay this is the last person, no more holding the door." The friendships and bonds these children are making.. I can not even express the pain in my cheeks after Ms.Wendy asked me if my eldest was a good big sister because she caters to the other children and then not even a minute later, I am watching 6 children run out the room and yelling my daughter's name in baby jibber. I see children walking into the school and introducing my child by name to their parents. I got into my car and almost cried because of the struggle I had finding a perfect daycare and the fear that my child would struggle with being social.. just to see that my children are radiating happiness whenever I say lets go to school, when they get to school, and when they see their teachers. The struggle I have getting my toddler out the building is absolutely insane. 7. You know you have a good daycare when you have a lobby full of parents joking and laughing after working. I would've never thought babies and children would recognize me as I'm coming to pick mine up.. never in a million years. Seeing under 1s recognize other parents of under 1s is so telling. The Apugos are so amazing, I count the hours down because I am always excited to see the staff and families. They have truly impacted me and my motherhood journey.

Apparently they must have a cash flow issue if they felt they needed to keep my deposit. For that the business won't be blessed or full. We cancelled 60 days prior to our youngest started school in September, but lost two months worth of tuition deposit, which was $1,540. We explained our situation to the director, Damita Robinson, that we had to cancel due to our PCS to a different state, but she gave zero refund simply saying that she cannot deviate from the contract. They do not have a prorated refund policy. If you cancel after a certain date, you will lose all of your deposit. In my honest opinion, the school's cancellation policy is unjust and unethical. Why did I have to lose all of $1,540 for no school attended? It disheartens me to only give 3 stars to a school that our three kids loved so much.

The new instructors were Ms. Cathy and Ms. Irene, both of whom seemed to care greatly for each individual baby and his/her needs. The care for better with them. My baby grew and started interacting better, and those two continued to encourage her to explore while maintaining a watchful, safety eye. I do still feel that the pre-toddlers are a little old for that room. I know some places move the babies out to a different room when they're 12 months AND can walk. My only other complaint, and it's not so much the staff, but in the summer, there are quite a number of ants inside the rooms. I'm sure that just comes with the location. Or maybe Fort Meade can put it in their budget to update the building.

They have Happy Family Daycare Center on Riggs Road, which accepts children from infants all the way up to 7th grade for their afterschool program. They also own Kidskare which specializes in preparing 3, 4, and 5 years olds for starting elementary school. I have a toddler still at Happy Family and a 5 year old who started at Kidskare at age 3 then graduated and started kindergarten this past year. The staff here is wonderful, my child always come home with great things to say about their teacher. I get to see what they do and learn everyday, as there are weekly homework assignments sent home with them in their folder as well as a mini progress report. The teachers really make sure the kids are learning everything they need to know to be well prepared for kindergarten. By the time they graduated from Kidskare all the kids even knew some sign language, which I thought was amazing. As for the reviewer above I am not sure what caused her negative experience. But I will say that Mr. Uche's wife's name is Grace not Hannah so maybe she was not actually working with the owners of Kidskare. I get off work at 5:30, so usually my husband picks up my child from Kidskare, but he has never had an issue with paying late fee. The times I do go to pick up my child, however, even if I arrived a minute before 6 o'clock I was not charged. The checkout clock is electronic and you enter in a code that only the parents know to sign a child out. It's an automated system so there isn't much human error, and the time on the clock has never differed from that on my cell phone or watch. I have never know it to be set even one minute ahead of the correct time. During the summer, the children do have more time to play but it is still very structured. The center follows a similar curriculum to that used by the Prince George's County Board of Education for preschool. Meaning that there are daily lessons for the academic year, but when the school children in PG County schools are on break the lessons from the Board of Education pause for the summer. The children still have daily activities that help them retain the information they learned from August to June so that they remember what they learned when they start kindergarten after the summer ends. The directors even have some of their own lessons they develop for the children over the summer, such as the sign language mentioned above, kindergarten level math, and more. These additional lessons help your children to start slightly ahead when they begin school in the fall. The prices and staff at both centers are amazing and I would not hesitate to recommend them to my family and friends.

I wanted to share my experience with Julia Brown School regarding my daughter's time there…read more Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing and left us feeling that the environment was not supportive of helping children adjust and thrive. When my daughter was placed in a new classroom, she had been there for less than a full day before we began receiving calls asking us to pick her up because she was "not listening to instructions." As any parent knows, transitions to a new classroom can be challenging for young children. It typically takes time for them to feel comfortable with new teachers, classmates, and expectations. Instead of allowing her a reasonable adjustment period or working with us on strategies to help her settle in, the school seemed irritated by the situation and quick to remove her from the classroom. We were hoping the staff would demonstrate patience, professionalism, and a child-centered approach--giving her at least a week or two to adapt to the new environment. Unfortunately, that level of support and understanding was not demonstrated. Repeated calls to pick her up after such a short time in the classroom made it feel like the priority was convenience rather than helping a child succeed. Every child deserves educators who are willing to guide them through transitions with patience and care. We had hoped for a more supportive and professional approach from the school in ensuring that our child had the opportunity to adjust and thrive.

The teachers are phenomenal and the campus is clean and neat. School communications are clear and prompt, there's always someone there to answer questions or concerns. One of my favorite parts of JBS Silver Spring is the community. We have met life-long friends both for the kids and us parents. Often when a child leaves JBS Silver Spring, we stay in touch with the family since the kids build such a close bond. I can't imagine us being anywhere else, it's truly our dream school come true.
