They turned around a…read morehorrific experience with a first contractor, and gave me a result that I look forward to seeing in my home every single day. My house project was to cover the popcorn ceilings in two bedrooms to save the cost of removing the asbestos-positive material. I had hired a contractor previously to apply 1/2" drywall to the ceilings, mud it, sand it and apply texture to finish it off. I also hired him to frame out my attic entry (located in one of the bedrooms) to cover the popcorn and to give it a nice clean look. He, however, gave me a very dissatisfactory finished product. You could see every seam in the ceiling, the attic entryway had rough finishes and uneven/angled walls, the ceiling edges were rough and had gaps in the mud, and his texturing was sloppy and very uneven. Even after finally getting him to come back to fix his poor craftsmanship, he left me with an eyesore of a final product and extreme lack of professionalism and customer service during a phone call. I called up Thor's Hammer and explained my current situation. Troy and Andrea came over to the house right away to look over what I was left with. They were shocked as well by the work done previously, and were ready to start the project next day. Once work started, many safety issues and concerns arose from the work done by the first guy. The sheetrock wasn't even securely screwed into the studs, and over time, the ceilings would've sagged and dropped. Troy even found one small section of drywall that was only secured by mud to the surrounding sheets. It wasn't screwed to the studs at all. Troy and Ruper resecured all of the sheetrock with longer screws, watching the existing screws pop right out of the ceiling, proving they weren't secure. I'm so incredibly happy that I called Thor's Hammer Construction to have the work redone. I know my home is much more safe to live in now. Aside from that, my ceilings look smooth and texturing is even. Troy even built a new frame for inside the attic entry and added molding to the ceiling to finish it off. He also took the time to caulk the ceiling edges to fill in any gaps to ensure a smooth finish. Everything looks so beautiful! Troy and his partner did amazing work and were so willing to walk me through their work process and every step of the job. It was a night and day experience between them and the first contractor. Everyone was extremely professional and so understanding of the experience I had just gone through. They have gone above and beyond to make me happy, and they are still working with me to provide written documentation and photos, so I can take the next steps to try to get me money back from the first contractor. I highly recommend Thor's Hammer Construction, and will continue to use them for future projects.

I'll keep this as brief as possible and stick to the facts. Macadam installed new carpet for us. It…read morewasn't a small job: we paid around $13k for it. We worked with Angel in the office, Sean in the field, and Jessica ran the carpet crew that performed the install. The morning of the install, Sean informed us they couldn't find the carpet. They lost the carpet! We had the house all boxed up, our dog and kids were away for the day, and we even had professional movers over to help disassemble and move a large entertainment center. Macadam eventually found our carpet, but two weeks had passed by the time it was able to get installed. This was not the only issue we had with Macadam. First, the crew took pictures of themselves pretending to play my son's guitar (and other similar pictures with our things). Jessica said they take pictures like that sometimes for their professional social media accounts. It made me very uncomfortable. Second, they damaged and repaired our bedroom door and never told us. The repair work is highly visible (at least it's low on the door). Third, there are visible seams in the carpet. Fourth, when they attempted to repair the seams, they asked if they could cut carpet from another part of the house to use in the repair. We said no. They ignored our wishes and cut carpet from several rooms when we weren't around. We know this because (a) they left carpet scraps from the cutting and (b) the area where the carpet meets the wall looks worse than before. Fifth, the carpet they cut from was in rooms with closed doors, including a bedroom and walk-in closet with laundry and pets. They entered closed off rooms without asking and performed work we said not to do. Sixth, even after the repair, there are still visible seams in the carpet. Seventh, we let Angel know about all these issues and Macadam offered what we consider to be an inappropriately small reduction to our bill (including a small cash discount and not charging us for moving furniture). FWIW, our interior designer, who has a lot of experience working on projects like this, thought a 50% reduction in the total bill was appropriate just based on the hassle caused by the lost carpet (ripple effect with other projects we had going on). She didn't know about any of the other issues when she made that statement. Given that the quality of the work was far below our expectations, the incompetence around losing the carpet, directly ignoring our wishes w/r/t cutting the carpet, and the invasion of privacy from entering closed rooms and taking pictures with our belongings, we will not use Macadam for a carpet project again. Moreover, I wouldn't let anyone from that crew back in my house for any reason. Two stars because even though this project fell far below our expectations, it's still nice carpet.
