the few people I know in the Portland area that know of this place all rave about it. I went there today and was so grateful for the recommendation. I needed some scrap pieces to build some shelves for my plants and the scraps they had here were perfectly sized and gorgeous! so glad I went here rather than lowes or home depot. I got 6 shelf size pieces for $20....added a little bit of stain (though it's not really needed)...and got shelves more beautiful that I expected. definitely going back to this place for any future wood-working projects

Look at that detail and quality of wood It glows gold when the sun hits this wood in the clear epoxy just gorgeous.

I was finally ready to create my very first river table. Went to a number of great lumber stores in Portland and Oregon. Goby however was the winner in the end for what I was looking for. They have 100's if not 1000's of wood selections on their online library slab archive. I probably spent a solid week going through it all and finally deciding on a Black Walnut burl from Oregon. They also cut up your pieces too, if you can decide on the spot how you'd like them cut. Also, keep in mind if you do find a piece you like in their catalogue. Remember to call them to book ahead of time for a viewing as not all their pieces are accessible. They need to take it out of their archive of 1000's of slabs for your viewing. Anyways, I am so happy with their product. Definitely will be coming back for more. Thinking about making a set of benches next! Special Thank you to Goby: I had an amazing experience with Cyndi and Randy you were so helpful in the final decisions before my purchase. And thank you Phil and Aaron for helping me out in the cutting and loading of the giant piece. Here is a video I created 4 months of work smushed into 14 minutes literal blood, sweat, and tears: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHCk3zrJLOE&t=50s It turned out phenomenally!

So, I bought a barn door on Wayfair without realizing what a material pain in the wazoo it would be to get the thing to hang over our entrance - we needed a wood plank around 81 inches onto which we would have to affix the rail (as opposed to just putting it into the wall like we did in our bedroom closet). I didn't have to look far and found Goby and their great reviews immediately. Came in to the shop and viola - the exact piece of wood I needed was right there, and for a mere $18! I did pay extra to get it cut to size and it wasn't a solid piece but rather veneered plywood, but the shop lead assured me it would be sturdy and really, he just had some amazing tips (i.e., paint the edges black, which side to use facing out). I love how it all came together and will be recommending Goby.

I purchased a slab for a dining room table at Goby, dealt with a employee named Phil. The picture of the slab was beautiful, after several months I received the slab via truck delivery. That's when I realized the slab was wet in the photo. All the pictures came out looking great but the actual slab wasn't nearly as dramatic looking. Today Phil calls me after 7 months and tells me I owe another 102 dollars for the weight of the slab. He also wants another 100 dollars for delivery because the trucking company said they used a lift gate. The table weighs 1200 lbs, and they didn't use a lift gate. The driver didn't help get the slab out of the truck, I had 7 guys waiting to move it. All and all I wasn't that happy but the table looks great and I did save a lot of money buying it from Goby.

The fireplace mantelpiece from Goby was just what I was looking for!

It's super cute and historical - complete with its own walking tour! Aurora is a hidden gem - and is less 30 minutes south of Portland! The city is pretty small so it's definitely doable as a day trip depending on how long you want to spend antique-hunting. I've never seen so many antique stores in one place - there are at least 10 within walking distance, and a lot more if you include the ones outside of the quaint little Main Street area. PRO TIP: don't visit on a Monday though - as tons of the shops and restaurants are closed oddly enough. The city centers around historical Main Street which is pleasantly walkable and offers clean public restrooms and picnic tables to take a break on. It also offers a really interesting self-guided walking tour of the historic buildings and town called the "Emma Walk" and you can find it online here: https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2013R1/Downloads/FloorLetter/460 Another little fun fact - Aurora is the home of Life Flight - the largest nonprofit air ambulance company in the country - who knew?!! There are lots of cute boutique hotels and restaurants in the area - as well as major chains in nearby Wilsonville if that's your thing. Every summer they have a fun festival called Colony Days. The town is easy to find - right off I-5. And there's lots of public parking in the Main Street area. Aurora is really a true hidden gem - I'd never heard of it and only stumbled upon it after digging around on Google looking for a fun place to stay on my way out of Oregon that's close enough to PDX but not inside the city lol. Definitely worth a day trip!

Pendleton pillows - gorgeous muted shades at great prices - on shelves as you enter the second floor and on some of the couches. In the far back is the plant room. So much fun! Succulents in little pots, ferns and other foliage plus planters and vessels, some traditional, some very current and quirky. On the back wall colorful scarves hang next to a wicker shelve unit containing botanical prints and frames. The first floor was filled with lots of vintage finds. For a collector, this would be your happy place! Old metal doll houses, baby's clothing, potato chip tins, milk cartons, dolls, signs, dial phones, vintage hats, and so much more! While the store has a myriad of items, everything is in good condo and displayed beautifully. This is. It one of those antique stores where it looks like a garage sale. To make it easier for the "wife" a plethora of glasses in carriers or glasses surrounding an ice bucket were manufactured. Lots of silver patterns and 22 carat gold designs, and as time went on, green and gold, turquoise and gold, black, red, orange and other colors followed. This shop has them all! Every type of glassware in every color in a variety of carriers. Since I'm a huge fan of mid century bar ware, and mid century in general, this was my favorite shop in Aurora. Along with the cocktails, chips and dip was a popular snack and the chip and dip sets come in just as many varieties and colors. There were dozens and dozens of them here! The store is packed with inventory which means lots of items piled on every available service. I fell in love with a set of tall cocktail glasses with a turquoise pattern and gold acorns. Each came with an aluminum pointy stirring spoon. To see the pattern, I carried them up to the counter where there was a small patch of free space! I ended up buying them. The lamps here are also beautidal and plentiful. very funky! And don't get me started on the dish ware! The starburst collection would be perfect for my house but I just can't right now! Also spotted an Eames recliner chair and ottoman. The owner rehopolstered it so rather than the original leather, it is now covered in shades of advacado and gold circles. The owner is super knowledgeable and knowso every designer and the pieces they created. She grew up during those times and remembers her parents always entertaining which is where her love for mid century bar ware originated. I'm super excited about the new glasses I purchased and I will make the 25 minute trip to Aurora from Portland just for this shop!
