Horrible customer service and patient care. Not an ounce of compassion. Choose another provider

Don't even know where to start. When our Mom was discharged from Memorial Hospital, your company…read morewas assigned to my mom's care. My youngest sister was her POA and caregiver, was never informed about the medications being stopped until 2 days before her death. Comfort meds should've been placed in the home THE DAY OF ADMISSION. The nurse didn't make her initial visit til days later. Your nurse asked my sister if she could take out her catheter because she was "too far". You were negligent in providing appropriate hospice care to our mom. The ball was dropped day after day with nurses scheduling a visit, then never showing up. Yes, I am very opinionated about hospice as I, too, was an Oncology nurse and Hospice nurse totaling 45 years experience. You will be hearing from my lawyer.

We were out of meds and other necessary supplies. I called three times and they kept saying someone would show but never did until she died. It was the most disorganized care I have ever witnessed and resulted in lack of comfort and compassion for my wife when she needed it most. The head of the hospice called me to apologize and said he would call back to follow up with an incident report and this ever happened either. The billing person who works with the insurance company was simply lazy and did not want to make any extra calls. It was from start to finish just a mess and I hope people that read this review think twice before using BJC Hospice. Please choose a smaller company that actually care!

UPDATE: I emailed my concerns to the email provided in the response. I sent my email at 11:37am and…read moreDeborah sent an email back at 12:54pm, saying they did a "thorough investigation." Thorough investigation in that amount of time????? No one ever reached out to me. They lied and said the Clinical Director reached out and listened to my concerns in detail. This is a complete lie-no one reached out to me at all today to listen to my concerns. I talked with her in the beginning when we had issues but not for this complaint on the day of my mother in laws passing. Terrible that this agency can get away with lying and collecting their money without providing the services they promoted and said they would provide. My mother in law had Unity for her end of life care. Absolutely horrible experience. I am hoping another family doesn't have to endure what we did. When i had an emergency, i called the number as instructed, no one called me back, i called again, was told someone would get back with me, no one ever did. I dealt with the emergency by myself but needed to speak with a nurse for direction, but that wasn't happening. There were a couple of really good nurses that came on a semi regular basis, they were professional, friendly and mostly competent. The Chaplain was horrible and started arguing with me on the phone. I stopped taking his calls. We didn't need that extra stress. The social worker called us once never called again. The night my mother in law passed away, i needed to speak with a nurse really desperately. My mother in law had blood(A-LOT) coming out of her mouth. I called the on call, no response, i called again, the on call did call me back about 45 minutes later. I asked for a nurse maybe to come out. No one did. We were all alone not knowing what to do for her. It was the most horrific thing i have ever dealt with. When she passed, not one person offered their condolences other than the nurse that came out to declare her deceased. The social worker said we would have 13 months for follow ups. We have had NOTHING since she passed early January. I did call in the beginning when we started to experience issues, which the administrator Alan told us we could go with someone else. That was his solution instead of trying to fix the issue. I have dealt with many hospice agencies over the years and this is BY FAR the WORST I have encountered. Think twice before going with this agency. I am also checking into how they billed medicare. We have everything documented and if they bill for the services we didn't receive, that is Medicare fraud. I also have to add, i have been calling to try to speak with someone about this since JANUARY to no avail. Just put in another call today. My mother in law deserved better. They should be ashamed of themselves for the horrendous lack of care for not only my mother in law, but for our family as well.

Hospice Care for my mother. For me even to write a review from the care in 2018 should be a…read morestatement in itself. Hospice Care isn't really care from the company itself, it basically manages the medications to be prescribed and that is all. My in-home nurse care by Rhonda was AMAZING and she went above and beyond her call. She was the shining point of this entire establishment. Nurses were sporactic in their visits, which can happen, but at the time of death approaching, when I needed a nurse present the most, CRICKETS!!! And when she finally arrived after my mother passed, she actually had me and my niece (my mother's granddaughter) help her turn my mother after watching her try to push any remaining fluids from within her body!! If not watching my mother struggle to breath, see her foaming at the mouth and not knowing if I was administering the meds given appropriately or enough to ensure she was not suffering was irrevocably NOT ACCEPTABLE! If it wasn't for her caregiver, Rhonda, who helped bath her and dress her with love, shared genuine conversation and brought presence of peace, I would have only given given 1 star! She deserves 5 stars, but I am reviewing the company. I experienced a similar experience when my father passed from hospice as well. I am not ever sure why these companies exist except is a final way to get their money or the money of their loved ones. Hospice should be about keeping the patient comfortable, keeping up with their mental struggles of approaching death, showing compassion above all else. Seasons is missing the mark.
