Love the staff at Westside! They are friendly and great with my granddaughter! She lives going to…read moreschool.

My relationship with Westside began in 2001 when my now 12 year-old-year began preschool there. It…read morehas continued with the addition of my now 4 and 2 year-old. There has never been a time when I felt any uneasiness about leaving. The staff is caring and compassionate; my children talk of them fondly and lovingly. The Directors are easy to get along with and have the best interest of the children there in mind. You can see how they strive everyday to make the daycare/preschool better in some way. I accredit the preschool to the academic success of my son. He's an intelligent young man and skilled in many areas the preschool first exposed him. I doubt he would have had those experiences if he hadn't attended there. My 4 year old is reading already and my 2 year was speaking in full sentences at 18 months. Both knew their ABC's, how to count to 20 and how to count to 10 in Spanish by 2 1/2. Both are well socialized and are receiving the guidance all children need to succeed. Their curriculum is thought out and well developed, as the above attests to. The most heart-warming factor for me is Ms. Sandy. She was my son's preschool teacher (really, she was the force that got him ready for kindergarten and beyond.) She is now my 4 year-old's preschool teacher and will soon be my 2 year old's. If someone can continue with an organization for that many years, they must be doing something right! I give them 5 out of 5! I feel fortunate I stumbled onto Westside for my children, where they receive an excellent education at a reasonable price. And while that price is reasonable, they do not cut corners. I don't know how they do it!

I would recommend to stay away from school due to 2 incidences which i experienced with my kid. I…read moredrop my kid in morning for preschool and used to pick him up in afternoon around lunch time. 1) One day when i saw that my 3 yeard old kid was made to wear diaper since he had accident on morning during breakfast. But he was worn underwear on top of diaper. Diapers are large and you cannot fit underwear on top of it. This was common sense . No one is made to wear underwear on top of diaper . Due to this he felt ucomfortable and i got to know he constantly tried to adjust diaper. When i went in afternoon to pick him up I saw diaper hanging loose outside from his pant on all the sides. To my shock he was being attended in area other than diaper changing area by one of the teacher. Seeing me she immediately left him . My heart dropped a beat seeing his state and immediatly complained same day. But was told that he had pulled diaper hence teacher was trying to correct it. But it was really in unhygenic way.. My question is if you have teachers attending small kids , don't they have basic training of how to fit proper diaper to kids and never to MAKE WEAR underwear on top of it. 2) My kid did not know how to talk and was beginning to learn talking . He just knew few words like 'eat', 'sleep', 'give', 'lights off', 'good work' and children rhyme songs related to alphabets and shapes. We always speak good to him in house . But looks like some one in his school ,( which i never got to know ) continuously spoke bad slang 4 letter word in front of him. Kids learn what they hear. My kid did not know what it meant and spoke it in front of us 2-3 times after coming home. I immediately called up center and complained to find out who is saying those words. But they said may be some kid would be saying privately without their knowledge. Else they would have complained to that kids parents. I do not think other 3 years kids are smart enough to say it in low whisper, and would say it loudly anything and everything. My expectation was that teachers find it out with their effort that who was speaking bad words, since they are constantly with all kids. But to my sadness it was never found out. These 2 incidences really left me disappointed. 3) Like any other parent my main purpose to send my kid to creative beginners was that t he would learn to speak better be more social with kids. Though was happy after going to school since being a single child he would get bored staying all day in home, but due to above incidences which happened on last few days of his going there i got worried a lot as how he would have been handled on earlier days.Children do not know what is right and wrong. Especially at 3 years age they just learn what they see. And since at that age they cannot speak so much , we totally trust on staff to take extra care of small adorable kids, and stop any wrong doing(like someone swearing) by anyone , and put effort in finding any wrong doings after complaints. But some negligence, or unapologetic response by teachers for above incidences points disappointed me. I recommend to have surprise visits to schools to find out how well kids are being taken care of.
