I think overall the Pastor is great! The only thing I think with a pastor of any church, the opinions coming from the pastor should never be shared with the congregation because they might take your opinion as what is and should be instead of its just an opinion. I also think, we should be learning from the actual Hebrew and Greek version of the bible. King James has been changed so much from the original. Also many books have been removed by man and should never have been. These are all books of our Bible and lets us know what happened in those days and opens our eyes. Yahuah is who we pray to and speak his name.

Can I really write a review for this? This is my father's family's church. Apparently when my…read morefather was young, in the 50s and 60s, I think even though the 70s, it was pretty hoppin'. There used to be a large Ukrainian population in St. Joe, and they had all sorts of dances and dinners back in the day. My dad was part of the youth group. It's a big part of my family. We've had parties here, my parents got married here, my grandparents' funerals were here...There's a lot of K Family history in the walls. Sadly, now most of the kids and grandkids (myself included here) don't speak more than a word or two of Ukrainian, and I'm not even sure how often they have services anymore. I know for sure that there's not a priest dedicated solely to this parish anymore; I believe he comes down from Nebraska for special occasions to give mass in Ukrainian. It's a tiny, tiny church with a tiny, dark basement for dinners. The beautiful decorations upstairs are in the blue and gold that seem to be typical for Ukrainian churches (and I'm so bad I don't even know why!). Anyway, I just have to say 5 stars for the history...And who knows how much longer this lovely little church will survive?

I serve as a Regional Minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Greater Kansas City. New Market is one of our 78 congregations and I have worked with leaders in this congregation over the last several months. In that time they have done tremendous work to create and practice policies that safeguard the well-being of all who come onto their campus. For many years their pastor was a professor of archaeology who helped members read the Bible again with a fresh perspective. Today they have one of the best preachers I have heard in many years - a younger man who is helping the good people of this congregation to embrace a future of hope. This is a loving, welcoming community whose best years are yet ahead and I am happy to refer all who wish to find, grow and practice their faith in Christ to visit.

The pastor also uses ad hominem insults, a logical fallacy to deflect from his poor defense. He tries to say anyone criticizing the church must be an evil, depraved person. If he had a good defense of his church's actions he would not need to throw out insults at those rightfully speaking up in the defense of the victim.

Status quo RELIGION. Sheeple walk in like the country club, talk in their usual cliques, go…read more"worship " ( no one really sings but the choir). They choose horrible ancient songs that most generations can't follow along with, so you find yourself like everyone else, just " playing church ". Looking at the hymn with no good melody or rhythm and just waiting for the piece to be done. The old prunes who pick out the songs barely sing it themselves. They're only picking it out based on "tradition" to do so. It hasn't been worship for a long time there. It's been RELIGION. Zombied-out Religion. No active spirit in that church, unless you consider the wine during communion such. I can't honestly give this church anything more than 1 Star. Their people are fake, they're afraid to make healthy changes since the old folks that will be dead in a couple years anyways dig their heals in and prevent any healthy change to create a more lively, TRUE church experience. I don't do religion. I do Jesus. I follow him. This church is more focused on ancestral traditions than they are real worship. Too much like the Non-Christian Catholic Church. All Religion. This church is horrible.

There is also wonderful children's activities for all ages. They have Bible studies for different weeks if you want to go that way. There is also a Bible study lead by the pastor. All in all, a well rounded church.
