This church is a Hallandale Beach Heritage Site. The Greater Ward Chapel AME Church dates back to 1902 when the pioneers of the city opened the first church at 1st Avenue and 3rd Street. At the time Hallandale was a small farming community with a scattered population. The church was named after Bishop Thomas D. Ward and services were twice a month. By 1958 the church membership had grown under the leadership of Reverend David A. Russell, Sr. and the congregation required a bigger church which was built here. Through the years thus church has served as a spiritual beacon in the community. On March 17, 2002 Greater Ward Chapel celebrated its 100th anniversary. In 2010 the City of Hallandale installed a historical marker in front of the church. It is stop number 3 on the city historical trail. The marker honors all of the work the church has done in the Hallandale community through the years.

Unfortunately, we've had to explain our kid "middle finger gestures" and bad language regularly heard from peers since First Grade. We also had to deal with our 7-year-old asking us, during First Grade, about other kids who were having boyfriend and girlfriend split-ups "drama" at just six years old -one of the kids that calls everyone in his class "Bro" or "J..k".The Taylor Swift Eras Movie watch party was actually an event promoted and sold to the parents by the Catholic School, for the little ones to "enjoy"- despite her pro-abortion firm stance, sexualized lyrics and choreographies, a performer that recreates demonic customs and pagan lyrics like: "His love was the key that opened my thighs" or "Spider-boy, king of thieves, Weave your little webs of opacity, My pennies made your crown.Trick me once, trick me twice" Corinthians 15:33 "Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character." 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. We don't celebrate Halloween or encourage costumes that aren't biblically themed. We avoid excessive sugar, considering it detrimental to children's health. Whether you see it as extreme or just a candy-sharing event, we believe that exposing children to demons, monsters, idols and zombies, that are celebrated national and internationally by evil spiritual forces on one specific day, contradicts the principles of the Bible and a Christ-centered education. We also disagreed with children witnessing alcohol sales and consumption at the Catholic School-organized festivals, especially inside the school premises and same environment that the children should consider their role model place for their education, the growth of their faith, and the extension of The House of God. Also multiple parents' events are sold as: "Sip and Be Social" or Casino-themed galas. Ephesians 5:8-11 Live as children of light... Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. We were also concerned about the school's drastic security policy changes, which overlook the unfortunate events that had happened recently to Christian and Catholic Schools. They allow high school students from the nearby public schools to roam freely on campus and their parents can even drop off their children in the same area as our younger students, raising significant safety concerns.The parents' concerns escalated to the school deleting a private chat where parents brainstormed security ideas. It was ordered to be deleted because two parents carelessly posted a nonsensical meme of the pastor defending the school by himself and an explicit video of Charlie Kirk.The posts were removed quickly at the request of all members. Note that this wasn't the formal school-only dedicated chat for a classroom, but a private one among parents or community members who had been related to the school in the past, concerned about the kids wellbeing and to discuss worries that may involve the catholic community. Unfortunately, freedom of speech is stifled by bureaucracy. I pray for these young angels to remain steadfast in Christ. I pray that their attendance at Mass is filled with Christ's wisdom and that it dwells deeply in their hearts. I pray that everything improves as they draw closer to the path of our Lord and Savior. Philippians 1:6 reminds us to be confident that "he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

Every year, Miami Lakes United Methodist does a pumpkin patch fundraiser in the month of October…read more Every year, it's always such a decorated fundraiser that you see if you pass by the street driving alone. There are pumpkins upon pumpkins. You can buy one to go, as usually shipments happen once every week or so, and you can also take photos with them. With them, and well, all the props they have. This is mostly a delight for kids, but hey, as an adult, I enjoy it as well. For years now I've been saying I was surprised admission was free, but that case is no longer. Adults pay $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends. When going in, though, there's more variety than ever. They actually hand you coupons to use towards the purchase of pumpkin should you choose to buy one. Other goodies being sold include photos, kettle corn, drinks, face painting, you get the idea. Oh, and there's a show with a pumpkin patch princess. Definitely something for the little ones, and of course, for those young at heart.
