I always enjoy discovering a historic church like St. Anne's Church in Hallandale Beach. Churches…read morelike these are the fabric of their communities where they provide spiritual support as they meet the more tangible needs of generations of their congregations. St. Anne's was founded in 1914 by Bahamian's Melbourne Knowles, Ansel Saunders and A.L. Wilkins. The first church services were held ion Sundays in a converted pool hall. In 1921 the church was built here but it was destroyed a few years later by the 1925 Hurricane. The sanctuary was rebuilt and reopened in 1927 only to be destroyed again by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. The church bell was salvaged and used by the City of Hallandale Beach to warn of air raids during WWII. The church was rebuilt in the 1940's and officially reopened on Sunday, March 21 1948. The current pastor is Rev. Ronald N. Fox who has been serving since 2010. Bible study is on Sunday at 8 AM and the Holy Eucharist is at 9 AM. The church has a beautiful arched entranceway and I love the stained glass windows. In 2016 the City of Hallandale Beach Commission bestowed St. Anne's Church with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award. The award is bestowed on people and organizations in the community who promote unity and harmony. St. Anne's Church stood out for its long and impactful work in the community. The City of Hallandale installed a historical marker in front of the church as part of the city historical trail that also includes the Curci House and the historic schoolhouse. The marker honors all of the work the church has done in the Hallandale community through the years.

Father Tom is the pastor he has a big following and the parishioners love him because he truly cares about them their families and the community. My son did his Eagle Project here 10 years ago. The City of Hollywood than adopted the project for Make a Difference Day. It was a huge undertaking with the entire community involved. What a memorable experience for my family as well as the church. One my son and I are very proud to have been a part of.

It happened to be the Spanish mass and I do not speak nor understand too much just enough to get the jist. I just needed to be around prayer. I sat in the back of the church and couldn't stop crying. It was the end of mass and people were just touching my shoulder and I knew they were giving condolences. It was very loving. See I was new to little flower coming from resurrection in Dania. They closed shortly months before. I than went to see father Tom and he stayed with me as long as I needed and comforted me and my daughter and gave us crosses that were carved from a tree in Jerusalem. It has been over two years since that day and I now have my son and daughter as alter servers and my daughter attends youth group. Which is after the 5:30 mass on Sundays. Which I wish was in the am. Father Rich and Deacon is in charge if the servers and youth group and Cherie is also a main counselor. They play lots of games, field trips, and do volunteer work. I love it for my kids. Father Rich is very beloved amongst the kids and parents. Father Pierre is fairly new but I have to say his masses are my favorite. The way he performs the blessed sacrament is very touching and really makes you think about the body and blood of Christ. First time I witnessed it I got goose bumps. I very much enjoy my church. May god bless.
