This review is just for the ER, I went in on Black Friday because I had been having stomach bug…read moresymptoms for almost two weeks at that point. I told them my symptoms and they said they'd give me some meds and fluids. The nurse struggled to do an IV on me and it was very uncomfortable. Then when he came back to give the meds I asked what he was giving me. He said the doctor had ordered morphine for my pain. I said NO, I never once told the doctor I was in pain or anyone else, because I wasn't. My mother was with me and could attest I had never asked for pain meds or said I was in pain. I had asked if they had a psychiatrist I could speak to as I had been having severe anxiety symptoms. I think they assumed I was mentally unstable and were trying to sedate me. When they discharged me they prescribed me an antibiotic for my uti that ended up causing me excessive vomiting for two weeks that I had to do multiple scans to diagnose. The pharmacist never mentioned vomiting was a common side effect of the medication I was being given even though I had asked her if there were any side effects I needed to know about. Their negligence made me miss two weeks of work and lose out on wages. Unless you're a trauma patient do not come here, they don't care about you. Go to the Portland Ave campus, much more attentive. Otherwise go to mercy.

I had occasion to visit Dr. Morgan at SSM Health's 6201 North Santa Fe location on 11-19-25 for an…read moreannual visit as part of SSM Health's SCORE program. The office manager, Kari Hagen, chose that opportunity to confront me during the visit over a perceived grievance of that office not being paid for previous visits in 2022, 2023, and 2024 since the office didn't have a "contract" with my primary insurance provider, BCBS with Medica being my secondary insurance provider, and falsely claimed SCORE visits were only covered if Medica was an insured's primary insurance provider. She further asserted that the office had been "writing off" the costs of those visits and that I would not be permitted to continue seeing Dr. Morgan unless we came to an "understanding." She subsequently canceled some of the bloodwork my primary care physician requested due to that belief. She continued to aggravate this interaction by inserting her beliefs regarding my primary insurance provider in the after visit summary which was ultimately signed by Dr. Morgan. I responded by initiating an OFI complaint to SSM Health. The complaint was then forwarded to Ms. Hagen who chose to contact me via telephone on 12-3-25. Her response did not make anything better and, in fact, caused more problems. She spent 6 minutes and 34 seconds explaining how she understood medical billing procedures since she had been "doing this for over twenty-two years" while justifying her reasoning for confronting me during the visit. I indicated that her actions and reasoning raised doubts for me since a cursory look at my insurance claims for 2022 and 2023 indicated that no claim had been filed for either of those years and that a claim had been filed with Medica, my secondary insurance provider, only in 2024. (Medica was my only health insurance during the 2022 visit. Ms. Hagen stated that the failure to file in 2022 was likely due to the responsible person no longer being employed at that office.) Medica rightfully rejected the 2024 claim with a note indicating a claim needed to be filed with my primary insurance before they would take action. I indicated that calling me and starting an argument was not going to get the claims filed. I also indicated that a claim would need to be filed with my primary insurance, an EOB or denial obtained, and then file a claim with Medica in order to be paid. Surely a person who had been "doing this for over twenty-two years" would have known this without being directed to do so by a patient. Ms. Hagen ended the call by stating that she would file with my primary insurance, obtain an EOB, and then file with Medica. I visited my primary care physician later in December and completed the bloodwork Ms. Hagen had canceled and continued to follow up on the status of this insurance claim, which has recently been processed and fully paid. (GUESS WHAT? BCBS PAID 70% OF THE COST SINCE IT WAS OUT OF NETWORK AND MEDICA PAID THE REMAINDER WHEN FILED CORRECTLY. WEIRD, HUH?) Is it considered acceptable for a non-medical person to interfere with a patient visit? Is it now a patient's responsibility to make sure a billing office is doing its job? Does SSM Health want their offices and practices represented as ignorant and confrontational? Does SSM Health consider it acceptable for someone in their employ to comment regarding a former employee's employment status? Each of these visits about which Ms. Hagen complained represents over $1,000 in unrealized billing. Is it considered acceptable to leave that kind of money unpaid? Allow me to stress that Dr. Morgan, his nurse, and his tech are outstanding individuals and true professionals. Kari Hagen, the office manager, is the antithesis of professional. SSM Health doesn't intend to hold Ms. Hagen accountable. I, however, will. This review needs to be hung around Ms. Hagen's and SSM Health's necks until both parties can make a formal apology.

We were called back , asked question by a young doctor. She implied that alot of doctors miss diagnose this kind of pain. She didn't believe it was what our doctor said. They had us go to another room to wait, next to man in cuffs, another smelly one. So......things changed after scan, because our doctor was correct. He was admitted and surgery the same day. So emergency experience was not so good. I would choose another for next time, for sure. Parking is still a mess also for main SSM.

I work in healthcare and I expect a multimillion dollar facility to to run fluidly in most areas…read more The Emergency Room is something I never expect miracles from but OU has done miracles for our family. I was pretty weary of a hospital so close to a improvement zone where property values vary wildly. We had an emergency facial reconstruction done in 6 hours with amazing results after a freak concrete accident. I had a gallbladder removal done and at every step I was aware of my choices and never felt forced to go the 'expensive route' that made the most insurance payout. My nurse followed up after my surgery and I was so pleased we even found family practitioners here.

I am extremely disappointed with the care and communication at OU Medical Center Emergency Room…read more My 86-year-old father was brought in by ambulance during a serious cardiovascular event. The EMTs suspected a stroke, even though we clearly explained his extensive cardiac history, including multiple heart attacks and a triple bypass. From the moment we arrived, the lack of communication and compassion was alarming. We were not allowed to be with him initially, despite the fact that he has dementia and becomes easily confused without family present. That alone created unnecessary stress for both him and us. What made matters worse was the complete breakdown in communication. We were repeatedly told he was not in a room and that we couldn't go back yet. Meanwhile, when we were finally allowed in, Nurse Jennifer told us he had already been in a room for quite some time and had even been seen by the doctor, who had already come and gone because he was "waiting on us." We were never notified. The front desk either didn't receive the message or failed to communicate it, leaving us sitting there for over an hour not knowing if my father was having another heart attack or stroke, when every minute matters. The attitude we encountered was just as troubling. The nurse we dealt with was dismissive and rude, showing no empathy during a very frightening time for our family. In an emergency setting, patients and families deserve compassion, clear communication, and urgency, none of which we experienced. We were made to feel like we didn't matter, as if my father's age somehow made his situation less important. My mother is a registered nurse, and we know firsthand what true patient care should look like, kindness, attentiveness, and clear communication. Unfortunately, that standard was nowhere to be found here. This experience was frustrating, stressful, and deeply upsetting. No family should be left in the dark during a medical emergency, especially when time is critical.

We had her comfort items, everything we needed to prepare for a long wait or a stay because we understood that it is a busy place because of the specialized medical care that they could offer our precious daughter. From our checking in with triage to our wait to our getting a room and meeting our doctors and nurses, we had a very good experience. She has several special and specific conditions and we would not have felt comfortable going to the hospital right by our house. I would have rather had the wait time and left knowing that they understood her background and risks and did all of the things that we needed for her to be able to be in a safe place to go home and fight the virus without returning to a state that was physically unsafe for her little body. I initially left NICU feeling very bullied when she was a newborn, and I didn't want to return there because of the way I was treated before she was discharged. However, Dr Knoles, Dr. Triado, the admin team at triage, and the lady who came in and did the admission changes and corrected information, have made me feel more relaxed about being treated respectfully. The level of care is always great at OU Children's Hospital. There wasn't always a non bias towards adoptive parents. Great Job ER staff! I will consider OU for her ongoing needs as they and if they progress. Thank you for your services to our community and children!

We still are currently here waiting and still have not been seen . My son has a cut goin into his eye and needs stitches and a cat scan and I was told that because he don't have acute issues and didn't come in with breathing issues essentially his care is not as important although we arrived sooner then everyone and everyone was seen before us . We were told 4 people ahead 2.5 hours later it's still 4 people ahead and nothing ! I ask the nurse to get him an ice pack and it's going on a hour they can stare at me through the glass but has yet to get him the ice pack and when I asked again presumed to get a attitude and still hasn't bought him anything . I hate for something to be wrong with his vision or his facial bones and have him sit in a ER for 8-10 hours ! This is unacceptable care , this is unacceptable for a hospital to have non sick patients in the lobby for hours and hours with not even an explanation. Then as families sit stressed and anxious be told their child's issues although they came in first aren't as important to them . I HOPE I NEVER HAVE TO BRING MY KIDS HERE AGAIN. For this to be okc's main childrens hospital straight .
