DO NOT GO HERE!! This place is a huge joke. Staff was rude, judgmental, and just standing around making jokes together. I cut my finger down through the muscle with a knife so my husband took me here since all urgent care clinics were closed. No one helped me for 4 house as I was bleeding out with an open wound. We ended up leaving and I had to sleep with my bleeding finger up in the air and went to indigo urgent care first thing in the morning and they professionally helped me and I was out of there within an hour with my finger all stitched up. read more

I recently went in for a scheduled procedure and was impressed. Only issue was not enough HC parking and a shuttle would be nice. Not necessary but nice. First of all the staff from Volunteers to the surgeon were all very caring. Autumn, Amanda, Kim, Ema were extremely professional and did not just go through the motions they were above that they were awesome. Michelle (PT) was awesome and very helpful in providing guidance in what I needed for my recovery from a PT position. The hospital (5yrs old) still has that new hospital air. But the professionalism of the staff is one of a highly tuned Maserati. I have one more procedure to go and I look forward to having it done at St. Anthony's. read more

This place is a flipping joke. For several years patients have been being treated in the bloody lobby with zero thought for HIPPA. My mother who was brought to the ER by ambulance was left on a gurney in the LOBBY to be treated. Healthcare uses covid as an excuse for the poor care, but it has less to do with covid and more to do with corporate greed. As a RN who know patient care shouting names in the flipping lobby is NOT how you treat patients. St. Anthony Hospital repeatedly and knowingly billed an outdated insurance policy after being told to remove and update it, despite eight phone calls and two in-person visits. Instead of correcting their error, they escalated the issue by sending my account to a debt collection agency and disclosing my full Social Security number, while still refusing to bill the correct insurance. This is not only grossly negligent billing behavior, but a serious privacy and potential HIPAA violation involving highly sensitive personal information. I have repeatedly attempted to resolve this calmly and directly, only to be passed around with no accountability. This situation is unacceptable and deeply concerning. read more

I don't know about the rest of the hospital, but the ER experience is awful. Patients all just sit in the lobby waiting area, and get called into a closet for tests/exams, then sent back out to lobby. It was the medical equivalent of sitting on hold waiting to talk to someone for 12 hours, with the same shitty music playing. I'll take my chances with dying before I do that again. read more

I had 2 botched surgeries at St. Anthony Hospital within 5 months of each other. The first was 11/15/22 performed by Dr. Stephen Giss. He performed an appendectomy on me, which he proclaims is his specialty. Well, his sloppy work caused me to spend an additional 6 days in the hospital, post-op. Dr. Giss left my abdomen filled with so much bacteria from my infected appendix, that I got a severe bladder infection. I had no appetite while hospitalized & went from 183 lbs. to 158 lbs., a loss of 25 lbs. I was super sick. I ate to survive. I looked like Gandhi. The second surgery was life changing. read more

No real need to go into detail, not worth it. This hospital is absolutely horrible and needs to be shut down! If I knew how to give it half a star I would, cause they are not worth a whole star. Unfortunately this is the only hospital the paramedics will bring me to even when I request to go to Silverdale. It's not right! The nurses are very careless. They are not gentle at all , they make the situation worse and put you in more pain than you were already in.. They take way to long to answer call lights. I fractured my upper arm nearly 2 years ago and was transported by ambulance simply because my husband wasn't able to get me off the ground to be transported. He went in to speak with the ER and gave them insurance information. Since we were insured by 3 companies at the time he told them which one was primary, followed by the secondary and the third and that they had to be billed accordingly. Well over a year later I start receiving bills. We called and they said that that's normal and everything was pending, not to worry. I'm still getting these bills a year later so I called my insurance companies and they said that St. Anthony DID NOT bill in the correct order. So I called billing at St. Anthony and I re-informed them which company to bill 1st. Called today to check the status of that bill and it's, of course, pending. Speaks volumes about them and their ER intake and billing department. Do better... read more

I absolutely cannot recommend their Urgent Care. I went in very early on a Sunday morning, when there were very few people waiting. I ended up spending about 10 hours there, most of it sitting in an exam room waiting for someone to see me. They took an x-ray, which they said showed no fracture and no arthritis. After all that time, they put me in a knee immobilizer (which wasn't fitted correctly) and told me to see my PCP. They also sent me home with a pain medication which it turned out was contraindicated because of another medication I was taking. After seeing my PCP, having an ultrasound and then 4 weeks of PT, I just got an MRI. It shows a complex meniscal tear and significant osteoporosis in the joint. The treatment received at St. Anthony's Urgent Care was basically useless, not mention expensive. I will never use them again. read more

We went to the hospital as my wife was having a terrible time breathing. They promptly took into emergency. A doctor and 2 nurses were waiting. They immediately started treating the breathing problem. Then they did tests. The doctor carefully reviewed the results and his diagnosis. We went home with sufficient medication to resolve the problem. They were terrific!! read more

I went in on Tuesday morning with sever abdominal pain. I went to the ER and was brought back almost immediately. I received medication for the pain and was taken back for imaging within 30 minutes. Dr. Giss, a surgeon, said my appendix was inflamed and that I had the early signs of appendicitis. I was prepped for surgery and in the operating room within a few hours. I was moved to my room afterwards where Dr. Giss explained that I had a hole in my appendix and would need to stay a couple nights to receive antibiotics and care from the hospital. I stayed 3 nights. Almost everyone was friendly and polite, I was well cared for, they managed my pain and made sure I was comfortable. I'm very appreciative of the staff for its quick response to my pain and the overall care I received. 5/5 thank you all so much! read more

This hospital has gone downhill since it opened. I was a patient there two weeks ago. Taken there by ambulance due to MS issues, I was initially placed in a shared room in the ER After some time, they moved me to another side of the ER and not to a room upstairs. I spent the next full day in a makeshift area that was actually the ER staff kitchen My bed was placed in front of their ice machine and refrigerator/freezer. As you can imagine, I hardly got any sleep. People were coming in all night long and making a lot of noise at the foot of my bed...literally! If the hospital was at 100% capacity, shouldn't they have closed up shop instead of keeping patients in the kitchen? In fact, I wonder if that is even legal. From now on, I will request transport to Swedish in Seattle. If ambulance cannot do that then it's Tscoma General. read more

Go elsewhere. After last night, Tuesday, 23 July 2023, St. Anthony's ER needs a new focus, a new direction, and a new "heart". Although our purpose for being there, was insignificant, in the grand scheme of things, what we witnessed in the early hours of Wednesday really brings to light the lack of empathy from "medical professionals". Around 0100 or so, first responders transported a women in obvious distress. Although her stay was very limited, her ailment was greeted poorly by these "professionals" but what we witnessed after she abruptly departed, against physician's advice, really tells the story of a decaying medical profession, as represented by the St Anthony's ER cadre, doctors, nurses and security. To make light of a patient's lexicon and general physical appearance who obviously is in distress, is unprofessional and unacceptable. To conduct yourself with such confidence when repeating parts of the distressful patient's conversation out in the open--loudly, is sickening. But for those who participated, it had the air of a common ritual. Nothing. NOTHING! gives you the right to act in such an unprofessional and disgraceful fashion. read more

I was in the emergency department yesterday for abdominal pain and feel like I need to say some things. The nurses and doctors in this ed are working so hard and they are so busy. Shouting at them for wait times is simply not helpful. Everyone was very caring and patient. It did take a long time- that is because it is a small hospital serving a big community. Do not ever go to this hospital, specifically the ER. I went in on a Sunday because of severe abdominal pain. at first they were somewhat attentive but at one point I was left alone for 3 hours. when I would push the help button it took over an hour for a nurse or doctor to come to my room. I was discharged basically saying sorry, can't find anything wrong with you. The next day I went to Multicare and was diagnosed within 2 days of testing being done. on the Sunday I was there, the ER was empty yet the staff chose to scroll Instagram and YouTube. St Anthonys is convenient if you live in gig harbor, but trust me you will get better care if you cross the bridge and go to a Multicare hospital. read more

This hospital is a joke and the worst hospital I've ever been to. I finally have decided to leave a review after multiple bad experiences there. I've had multiple bad experiences with my mother, my niece, my son and myself. Most of the staff (particularly the doctors & ER staff) are just totally incompetent. Last night was the straw that broke the camels back. I went in to the ER last night around 4PM for SEVERE ataxia, speech difficulty(aphasia), SEVERE vertigo & vomiting. A code neuro was never called. No one even did a neuro assessment on me nor did a CT scan the entire time I was there. I had previously had same symptoms months ago and was admitted for 4 days in which they found a brain tumor. I did have the brain tumor removed elsewhere, but with repeat symptoms I could have had fluid build up or a bleed in which a CT would've found, but none was done. An MRI was finally done hrs later at 6:30 PM which showed there was no fluid or bleed. Whew. The length of time however before anything was done was ridiculous. My symptoms also fell under possible stroke in which TIME is critical. NO neuro exam was done by the nurses or Dr. Harrison and Dr. Buschor who were ED drs I saw & who wrote notes. I also have a cardiac history of dysthymias and see cardiologist and EKG they did during this visit showed a prolonged QTC which can lead to fatal dysthymia, but regardless of that I was never put on a cardiac monitor. THEN in my discharge paperwork the Dr wrote a neuro exam was done by her and that everything was pretty much normal! I couldn't believe it. I couldn't even walk! Two paramedics had to pretty much carry me to the gurney! And she said I ambulated in the ED! So the notes from Dr Buschor was completely false information. Then on top of all that the nurses left me in pee that happened from my severe vomiting for over an hour after I had called to request to be cleaned up. Put on my call light after over an hour again because I then had to pee and call light rang for over 15 minutes before anyone even answered it. At that point it was 3AM. None of my night time meds had been given including my seizure meds and pain meds I'd requested hours ago. At that point RN did come in and assisted me to commode and gave me pain meds, but no night time meds. She told me admitting Dr. still had to see me, but I probably wouldn't get an inpatient bed until later in the morning. I really hate this hospital, but unfortunately the paramedics out here refuse to take you anywhere else. So ridiculous. I was initially told they were admitting me around 10pm but no admitting Dr ever came to see me. I ended up leaving AMA around 4-5ishAM due to poor care and neglect. read more

Had to use this emergency room again for a family member with severe ear pain -very dismissive physician who didn't do any sort of a work up at all. This is by far the worst emergency room I've ever been in -no privacy- the room you're in -other people sitting out in the hallway can see you, I flat out cannot believe what our healthcare system has come to -it's almost at a criminal level when they bill such high amounts for use of the ER and do nothing to help you. read more

FALSE BILLING. My OBGYN wasn't available so I went to the ER for light period bleeding (after having a miscarriage the day prior) and asked for an ultrasound to confirm I miscarried. As I waited in the lobby I told the staff this wasn't an emergency, I said I felt fine and was "planning on working out when I get home". Over the course of 5 hours waiting I got an ultrasound to confirm the miscarriage. To my surprise the ER billed my insurance over $3600 claiming that I was a "high severity" level 4 patient on a scale of 1-5 (a level 4 example is blunt force trauma - ACEP). Obviously I disputed this charge, be sure to always check your bill, I have a feeling that I'm not the only person this has happened to. read more

Excellent service. We walked into a packed waiting room and expected to be there for HOURS. Son was triaged and in a room in 30 min, the doc aspirated a large hematoma from wrestling, then called the ENT for consult. The ENT said I'll be there in 15 min, came in and bolstered up the ear! I have never been treated so well at a hospital. I came in with complaints of stomach pain, and they diagnosed me with gall stones. They were blocking my gallbladder opening with signs of infection and as such it had to come out. I have previously been to a few other hospitals in my life with similar symptoms, though not as severe, and those hospitals never even checked or tested for gallstones. (I never knew that I was potentially passing gallstones all those times) Not only that, but they treated me like I was pretending and was a druggy coming in for pain medicine. I couldn't believe how poorly I had been treated in those hospitals. However here at St. Anthony's, they knew quickly what it was. They set me up for an ultrasound and saw right away the problem. I was kept informed from beginning to end. Some of the nurses were very compassionate, and even the ones who weren't did an excellent job taking care of me. The doctors were very informative and competent. I could tell I was in the right hands and it put me at ease. In the waiting room, a sweet lady went around to make sure the patients were accommodated well. It was her primary job. I stayed overnight in their care to prepare for the surgery the next day, without going through the same pain I had been experiencing all week. The manager of the ER provided an appreciated overnight bag for patients such as myself. It had provisions such as toothpaste and a toothbrush, an eyemask, and earplugs. I was told this was a new provision. My husband and I always say that the quality of the experience depends on the manager. And I can tell they have a great manager in charge. I wouldn't have trusted my treatment with anyone else. I spent less time upstairs in the hospital room waiting for my surgery, but even that experience was a positive interaction. The bed was very comfy, and the blankets kept me mostly warm. All of my questions were answered. Should I ever need any other assistance in the future (though I hope I don't), I wouldn't trust anyone else. I would only come here. Thank you St. Anthony's. read more

Buyer beware: St. Anthony's Hospital uses off shore billing which means it's nearly impossible to dispute your medical bill which will be full of ugly bankrupting surprises. There are laws against surprise billing, yes, but you will face an endless merry-go-round of being passed around to person after person who has very little training or who will be willing to help. They will put you on hold to read their manuel. They will repeat themselves endlessly saying the same unhelpful thing. It's bad enough to be sick, have cancer, need surgery, what have you while trying to face this daunting, frustrating, knock your head against the wall aspect of people who won't and often are not trained well enough to help you. In the end, your only recourse will be to go to court. Prior to the ugly, incorrect hospital bills, I asked 5 different agents to send me a financial aid packet. It's been months. They never do. When I call, they said, "We don't seem to have your completed application." I had to repeat myself 4 times. "I don't yet have the application." They also don't have any idea how to give you facility fees. There answer is "Call the hosptial." Of course, the person answering the phone at the hospital will route you right back to the offshore billers. You will never get a straight answer. They don't have one. In additon, much of your scheduling will be done offshore and the information that you need to pass on to the specialist will never get there because the schedulers will get it wrong. I had emergency imaging ordered prior to a life saving surgery. The scheduler asked if I had any prior imaging at the site. I told them "Yes" three times and yet they marked my answer as no, meaning the radiologist never got the prior records. I also was told no blood test would ne necessary prior to a CT scan but it was, again delaying the scan when I could've brought my records proving I had just done a panel. The techs and nurses I've worked with at St Anthony's also experience constant frustration at the offshort employees. And if your wondering about that enormous data breech that happened last year? ER I went to Saint Anthonys today. I have terrible pain in my neck, This started 10 days ago. I went to the ER on the advice of my primary care provider. I got there at 10:30 am there were 3 ppl in the waiting room. Almost 3 hours later, I saw the doctor. He asked me what i had been using for pain. I told him ibupuprofin... too many as I had been taking them for 10 days. He said he wanted a urine sample to check my kidneys. The exam room went silent, and both the doctor and the nurse were staring at me. I definitely got the impression he thought i was drug seeking. After looking at my neck, he asked if it had been itching. I told him I had used a Salonpas patch that had caused a little irritation. He said I had a red mark on my neck, I told him it was probably my birthmark. He then said it looked like ringworm. Humiliating. He said he would order a CT scan and give me some tropicals (Ben Gay) and maybe some muscle relaxers. At that point, I didn't care. I was concerned about why I had neck pain.. severe at times. for almost 2 weeks. I have a herniated disc and spinal stenosis in my lower back, Maybe it was something serious. I said okay and went back to the waiting room to wait for the scan. During this time, the nurse told me the doctor was from Madigan Hospital, and it was only his second day. I'm still not sure why he told me that. Almost 3 hours later, there is no scan. My neck is killing me, My lower back hurt. I just up and left. I was completely disgusted, I had been humiliated. Just because a person comes to the ER in pain does not always mean they are drug seeking. I would think educated ppl like doctors should know how to treat ppl with dignity and not disdain. If your looking for quality healthcare, don't go to Saint Anthonys. read more

First visit to ER with my 92 year old mom - fast, direct, great communication. Second visit on February 25-26th - a nightmare Over 6 hours in ER - they told us she would be discharged and we waited over 3+hours for discharge papers and Rx. My mom still in pain and uncomfortable but desperately wanted to just get home. POOR communication - It isn't right to treat patients like this. read more
