I live nearby, driving past Do Re Mi several times a week and finally said to myself "why not?". So…read moreI asked some friends if they'd be down. We called the day before to make a reservation for Saturday night and there were very few spots available. We snagged a 8-10PM slot. You enter through Hoban (which smelled delicious), and then are led through a hallway with various rooms. It reminded me of practice rooms in the music department or a college. Except...they aren't soundproof. We got a large room for 6 people because that was what was available, but the small room looked like it would have done the job. The host explained the karaoke system and we were singing. Full disclosure: the remote is in Korean-but there's a piece of paper that explains the controls. There was a...unique list of songs. We had no problem finding songs to sing, but some specific songs would be missing (I.e. sometimes the artists' most popular songs wouldn't be there, but obscure singles would be there). It was pretty random for what would be available. You have full access to the menu at Hoban and drinks while in the karaoke room. We already ate, but we ordered drinks. We were having so much fun that we asked the host if we could extend our time. Online said they closed at 4AM, but we were informed that they actually close at 10PM. All in all, I hope to be back!

The first time I went to karaoke, my friend told me something that forever changed my point of view…read more- as long as you're having fun at karaoke, you're good at karaoke. As someone who trained in the art of singing terribly, this has been my motto going to karaoke since then. It doesn't matter if you're good or bad, are you having fun? Yes? Then it's a success. Doremi Karaoke is a lot of fun. If you're looking for a private Korean-style karaoke place, this is it. I mean it's legit - some rooms are equipped with the tambourines and everything, and rooms are decked out with long benches for parties, complete with the good old TJ karaoke system. Seriously, noraebangs in Seoul weren't even as old school as this. The only con about this place is the lack of microphone condoms, which is surprising with the COVID-19 pandemic, so we're all hoping they're cleaning those mics real well. Soundproofing also isn't great - you can usually hear the group next to you, and even if you're rocking out to your own jams, expect to potentially overhear bits of your neighbor's session - for better or worse. Sometimes you get a little inspired to queue up their selection next for your own session! Like other reviews mentioned, the entire system is controlled by a big remote, all in Hangul, but they have a placard with the English translation next to it. Make sure to ask or mention how to use it if you've never been there before or used the system - our server assumed we knew, and almost dashed out of the room before we mentioned this was our first time there. In addition, my friend and I were prepared to break out some old classics in preparation for an older, outdated song catalog, but to our surprise they had a pretty updated and robust catalog! Service was also pretty slow - there's no dedicated staff for Doremi, which seems to be owned by Hoban next door - they share bathrooms and are literally connected, so if the staff for Hoban are busy, you have to physically leave the room and flag someone down. The call button on the wall? Useless. So either eat before you go and play (you do get a 20% discount on your room rates if you eat at Hoban) and known what you want to drink right away unless you want to hunt down a server. Their prices are all pretty reasonable with the exception of soju - I know there's always an up charge, I would have thought $14-$15 was reasonable, but Doremi is charging $18 for a 375ml of soju. Oof. BIG OOF. They do take reservations, which is a boon, and you check in at the front of Hoban for your time slot - they get busy during the weekends, so it's always a good time to plan ahead of time! Also call to double check the times they're open - pandemic changed how their operating hours are, so the most accurate time is going to be the one they tell you over the phone. There's not a lot of places in the Twin Cities that offer a private karaoke experience, so I'm happy to sing (get it?) the praises of Doremi. While parts of it could be better, it's a great option for a fun night out.

Instead of Broadway, Your New Name should be WrongWay! We hope No-One will do business with you…read moreafter reading this. After my visit yesterday to A1 (formerly Broadway Rental), I wish zero stars was an option, because that's how bad my experience was.I came to the store looking to rent some scaffolds. The clerk asked for my driver license, I provided that to him. He looked puzzled and called for his manager Zack. They said there's a note here to not do business with me or my wife, due to a discrepancy from April 2021. That caught me by surprise because they said they are under new management. So I challenged them that if they truly are under new mgmt, then they should forget about the past discrepancy and do business with me. They said nope, You need to clear that up with the Party rental folks. I said, look, I'm willing to forgive you all of offending us and moving forward if you will. He continue to tell me emphatically NO! Now sense he wanted to continue trying to humiliate me, let me tell you why there was a discrepancy to begin with. In 2021, we rented a Gold Throne chair from Broadway Party Rental, for our very special 90 year old dad's birthday party. When the chair was delivered to us (late by the way) it was in bad shape, did't look as beautiful as the picture, paint was chipped, stains were on the velvet seat, both arms were broke and poorly glued back together, the legs were chipped, scratched, and looking wretched. We called the company to stress our disappointment, asked to speak with the manager. When we got on the phone with him and started to tell him about the issue, He became irate with us, thinking we were a different previous customer that had already complained about other chairs that were rented. Here's the catch, he said "You people are all the same. You rent from us and all you want to do is get stuff for free" We told him we never rented from from him and he had the wrong customer. We asked him what is that supposed to mean, he says "you know exactly what that means". So, yes we called him a racist, returned his broke down chair, and never looked back. The chair wasn't worth the $85.00 rental fee. We would have agreed to getting a better chair, as it wasn't about the money for us, because that chair wasn't worth $5.00. The close up photos show how abused the chair was when delivered. You can't tell from the full picture just how bad it was. Now a year later and New Mgmt, we see that they are still up to there old tricks. It should not have been a race issue. You classified us by saying "You people are all the same". Never the less, our fathers event was amazing and Thank God we made it, even with that horrible chair. By the way, Home Depot rental had everything I needed and was quite happy to do business with me. We encourage anyone who sees this review to think twice about A1 and Broadway Party Rental. This shows a lack of integrity on the part of the business and the Mgmt has not demonstrated any effort to move forward.

I rented a tent, tables, chairs, table linens, and glassware from Broadway Party and Tent Rental…read more(BPTR) - cost in excess of $2,000.00 - for a wedding at our home in Roseville, MN A few days before the event, BPTR sent out Gopher State to mark utilities in advance of setting up the tent. This marking should have been done with "flags only," but due to a lack of communication between BPTR and Gopher State it was marked in paint. The entire grassy lawn where the wedding was to take place was covered in Day-Glo red and orange paint just days before the event. Since the marking was done by Gopher State (at BPTR's request and direction) BPTR denies any responsibility. Tony at BPTR says "This happens every now and then - it's just the luck of the draw - it's not our fault." He (Tony) suggested that I purchase green spray paint and try to paint over the mess. Next, the tent and chairs arrived. I had specifically asked if the white tent and chairs would be clean and in good condition. The representative at BPTR assured me that "we take great pride in the excellent condition of our rental equipment." The tent that was delivered had apparently been stored soiled and wet. The "white" tent/canopy was covered inside and out with splotches of black mold. The chairs were also filthy - among the identifiable substances on the chairs were dried mustard, red wine, and dessicated pickle slices. I paid an additional $100 fee for tent lighting that was to be equipped with dimmer switches - guess what - no dimmers! The only option was to shine glaring, halogen work lights down on our guests. I could go on - for example the condition of the tables etc. - but you get the idea. It's unfortunate that in situations like this the customer has little or no recourse. One either has to accept what is delivered or go without. We (a team of 5 friends and family members) spent hours (of our wedding day) scrubbing down both the tent and 175 chairs with bleach and water in order to provide a sanitary environment for our guests. The guys who delivered the equipment said "You should call and complain about this." We did. Tony and Terry (owner/manager) both assured us how "terribly sorry" they were about our experience. But what would they do about it? NOTHING. Companies like BPTR get away with this because weddings are (with luck and love) once-in-a-lifetime events and they (BPTR) are apparently not concerned about the repeat business. I'm taking the time to write this in the hope that it will warn others what to expect if they choose Broadway Party and Tent Rental for their special day.
