I live nearby, driving past Do Re Mi several times a week and finally said to myself "why not?". So I asked some friends if they'd be down. We called the day before to make a reservation for Saturday night and there were very few spots available. We snagged a 8-10PM slot. You enter through Hoban (which smelled delicious), and then are led through a hallway with various rooms. It reminded me of practice rooms in the music department or a college. Except...they aren't soundproof. We got a large room for 6 people because that was what was available, but the small room looked like it would have done the job. The host explained the karaoke system and we were singing. Full disclosure: the remote is in Korean-but there's a piece of paper that explains the controls. There was a...unique list of songs. We had no problem finding songs to sing, but some specific songs would be missing (I.e. sometimes the artists' most popular songs wouldn't be there, but obscure singles would be there). It was pretty random for what would be available. You have full access to the menu at Hoban and drinks while in the karaoke room. We already ate, but we ordered drinks. We were having so much fun that we asked the host if we could extend our time. Online said they closed at 4AM, but we were informed that they actually close at 10PM. The first time I went to karaoke, my friend told me something that forever changed my point of view - as long as you're having fun at karaoke, you're good at karaoke. As someone who trained in the art of singing terribly, this has been my motto going to karaoke since then. It doesn't matter if you're good or bad, are you having fun? Yes? Then it's a success. Doremi Karaoke is a lot of fun. If you're looking for a private Korean-style karaoke place, this is it. I mean it's legit - some rooms are equipped with the tambourines and everything, and rooms are decked out with long benches for parties, complete with the good old TJ karaoke system. Seriously, noraebangs in Seoul weren't even as old school as this. The only con about this place is the lack of microphone condoms, which is surprising with the COVID-19 pandemic, so we're all hoping they're cleaning those mics real well. Soundproofing also isn't great - you can usually hear the group next to you, and even if you're rocking out to your own jams, expect to potentially overhear bits of your neighbor's session - for better or worse. Sometimes you get a little inspired to queue up their selection next for your own session! Like other reviews mentioned, the entire system is controlled by a big remote, all in Hangul, but they have a placard with the English translation next to it. Make sure to ask or mention how to use it if you've never been there before or used the system - our server assumed we knew, and almost dashed out of the room before we mentioned this was our first time there. In addition, my friend and I were prepared to break out some old classics in preparation for an older, outdated song catalog, but to our surprise they had a pretty updated and robust catalog! Service was also pretty slow - there's no dedicated staff for Doremi, which seems to be owned by Hoban next door - they share bathrooms and are literally connected, so if the staff for Hoban are busy, you have to physically leave the room and flag someone down. The call button on the wall? Useless. So either eat before you go and play (you do get a 20% discount on your room rates if you eat at Hoban) and known what you want to drink right away unless you want to hunt down a server. Their prices are all pretty reasonable with the exception of soju - I know there's always an up charge, I would have thought $14-$15 was reasonable, but Doremi is charging $18 for a 375ml of soju. Oof. BIG OOF. They do take reservations, which is a boon, and you check in at the front of Hoban for your time slot - they get busy during the weekends, so it's always a good time to plan ahead of time! Also call to double check the times they're open - pandemic changed how their operating hours are, so the most accurate time is going to be the one they tell you over the phone. There's not a lot of places in the Twin Cities that offer a private karaoke experience, so I'm happy to sing (get it?) the praises of Doremi. While parts of it could be better, it's a great option for a fun night out. read more

I love love LOVE this place! So many good memories and more to come! The first time I was here was the night of my bacholorette party-- I have always wants to find a Korean karaoke place in twin cities so some friends and I ubered here and it was a blast! Sang our hearts out that night to lots of kpop, jpop, and other random songs of course! (I am biased, but my fav is singing BTS, favorite song is Epiphany because you can sing your feelings out hardcore on that one)! The staff is so friendly, inviting, and amazing! They made us feel soooo welcomed here! The twins are amazing-- just great guys and they checked in on us many times throughout our night! It was a blast! We ate, drank, and sang the night away! I even made a new friends that night and we have been coming back ever since! I will continue to be back, and the Hoban is great toooo! Came here with a few friends and we had a blast!! We booked the small room for 2 hours and it cost just over $60. (At checkout they said if you eat at the restaurant before doing karaoke they take 20% off ). The small room was decorated with laser lights and two cube lights. They brought us water that was complimentary and you can order food/drinks from the restaurant for the listed price on the menu. (The food there is amazing btw). The keypad used to search for songs, change settings, etc is all in Korean but they have a translated sheet in English. It was really easy to use and we turned on the scoring to see how good/bad we did . The system did freeze up on us once but the guys were able to fix it in 3 seconds. There is a huge song selection from Pop, Indy, Rock, J and K-pop, and other languages as well. Will definitely be returning!! read more

You should call and confirm what time they have rooms available. There are small, medium, and large rooms but I think a small room would fit at least 8 people comfortably, it was really roomy. The entrance is inside the restaurant so you go in there first and they lead you in to the hallway and to the room. I'm pretty sure we could be heard, like the sound proofing isn't 100% but there's also music playing in the restaurant so it's mostly blocked out. They were short staffed so when we wanted to order food we had to go to the front desk rather than pressing the button but it worked out fine. It was around $30/hr. read more

Service: The service was great, Doremi made it their mission to make us as customer comfortable. I had a larger party come in (less then 20)I called and reserved a extra large room which the rates were not clear online but I took a picture of the rates. I would recommend to call ahead to ensure you can get a room. Fair tip is to clarify everything when calling ahead for a larger party, Doremi has drinks there but they are individual 12 oz bottles, if that is not sufficient you may call ahead and identify what Non-alcoholic beverages that will be brought. They will be more then fine with it! (Food is also available to be purchased from the neighboring restaurant) Experience: My group and I had a blast!! We reserved the room for two hours and the time just flew! Our extra large room had 2 mics and was quite spacious. The extra large room included super comfy couches, and great lighting. Everyone was nervous to sing, but as soon as the ball gets rolling the fun doesn't stop! Price: Extra large room was reasonably priced, as long as you spilt the room price with your friends the room is quite inexpensive. Final thoughts: Personally I don't give 5 stars to a location that I have only been to once but this location deserves the rating. 10/10 would recommend coming to this location, just be clear with the Doremi staff when making reservations that is all they ask for. read more

Omg, I finally have the time to write a review for this sh*tty place. If i could give it a zero, I would. This place doesn't deserve a 3.9 star. White people and Koreans gotta stop d*ck riding this place. The people here are the worst.. Not just that, the place is hardly busy when we are there to karaoke but service is slow and bad customer service. We finally called it quits. Here is my personal experience. My family and I have been to this place 3 times for karaoke. Our first experience was meh. The waiter was nice but you can definitely tell he wasn't genuine. He also never checked up on us (even tho they barely had any customers) so we constantly had to go in the main restaurant to ask for food and utensils. When it was time to pay we had to go in the front of the restaurant to pay, not the front of the karaoke. We went a second time after this, thinking that the first time must've been a fluke. The lady was nice enough but again, had to go in the restaurant. But this experience was slightly better. This gave us hope for a third time. The last time we went, we were 10 mins late. My sister had called in to let them know ahead of time. When we got there, the gay looking host was extremely rude to us just because we were 10 mins late. Now, my sister is never afraid to speak up. So she asked the guy if there is anything wrong and why is he giving us an attitude. Dude started insulting us. We were all dumbfounded. My sister argued with him a bit and then asked for a different server to serve us. This dude sucked ass. After this, we never came back. Final thoughts, don't go to this place. This Karaoke room was great! I've been to ones in Chicago and Dallas and this was pretty good to those as well! The Kalbi was delicious! The price for the room was reasonable and had pretty updated music. I would say the they are about 4/5 months behind on the kpop but thats totally fine. Well if Doremi does happen to be the only option, it's a pretty good one (if out of the way). $30 will get you an hour in a small (but spacious), clean room. We went on a snowy Tuesday evening during happy hour (6-9PM). Service was friendly but a bit spotty simply because our server was also splitting his time at the next-door restaurant. For the 2-for-1 appetizers, we ordered the chicken wings and the spicy chicken wings. The regular chicken wings came naked and were served with a bowl of sweet sauce -- delicious paring, and the chicken skin was perfectly crispy. I wouldn't recommend the spicy wings; they were absolutely drenched in sauce, which made the skin mushy, and the sauce wasn't even that spicy. The idea is fun - a place where you can rent a room and have tons of karaoke songs. However, they were not upfront about pricing, even though when my friend called to reserve the she asked and they didn't mention the hourly rate - which was extremely high. The non-happy hour drinks are ok priced, but I got warm beers on occasion, which was disappointing. The rooms could be considered spacious depending on how many people were there; we had too many. It was an interesting experience, but I wouldn't go back or recommend it. That being said, the videos that played with the songs (which weren't the official music videos) were entertaining, and the selection was decent - though they did not have Rebecca Black's Friday. read more

I went to Do Re Mi for the first time a couple of weeks ago with three other friends. The staff was incredibly friendly, and speedy with bringing us our beverages. The rooms are really clean and nice, and the karaoke selection is pretty good. If you're not sure how to use the karaoke system, the friendly staff will give you a quick tutorial. It's pretty easy to get the hang of it. The search function was definitely easier to use than the catalogues, in my opinion. The prices are reasonable, especially if you're splitting the cost of the room amongst your friends. There's a restaurant next door (that I assume is owned by the same people who own Do Re Mi) and they'll deliver right to your room. We ended up spending five hours there, and it was an absolute blast. I would definitely go back again (and again!) and I've been telling all of my friends about this place. read more

After my sister returned from Korea, she was abroad for a language fellowship, she insisted we go sing karaoke for her birthday celebration. Being the oppa, older brother, that I am I had to appease my little sister's desires for her birthday. I called ahead and reserved a room for about 6-10 people, explained to the person on the other end of the line that my family was going to eat before hand at Hoban and then go sing afterwards. They took down my name and information and explained we would have our room after our meal. Around 8:30p.m. we finished our food and walked across the restaurant, through a set of doors and arrived to what is DoReMi. We were escorted to our room politely and informed we could order both food and drinks from our room host. I was so excited since I didn't drink as much Soju as I had enjoyed. Needless to say we were popping bottles haha We sang current pop songs from both Korea and USA, appeasing both our American and Korean guests. DoReMi even had Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese and other nationality songs as well. The crowning moment of our birthday experience was when I went to pay the bill, everyone was still singing, the host of our room went in with a free cocktail soju and poured a round for our room without me noticing. The World's Slowest Service: I've eaten here a few times now. And I'm fully convinced they easily take the title. Lemme break it down. it's takes 15mins before someone even pours a glass of water. 15mins to take your order. 30mins till your food finally arrives. In most case the order is probably wrong. So for 1 hour minimum wait as your stomach eats itself while you watch tables across and around you feast. Positive: Great first date place if you need to spend hours with your partner without the servers giving you dirty looks. The food is good. This was an interesting experience. I didn't know quite what to expect. I am accustomed to karaoke and have been doing it for years, but my husband wanted to try out some songs before making a "public debut." It ended up being a very fun date night. Josh, the guy who helped us, was very friendly and accommodating and ready to help when we had questions. Wasn't hard to cue up songs once we got the hang of it. However, there were a lot of songs we wished to sing that they didn't have, almost no country selection, so that was a bummer although we still found enough to keep us busy for an hour. Would've booked a second hour we were having so much fun- but another party was waiting. We got the smallest room since there were just 2 of us, but there are bigger rooms for large parties and I bet it would be a fun night out with friends who like to sing. So cool to be the first one reviewing Do-Re-Mi on yelp! Do-Re-Mi Karaoke is Asian-Style Karaoke. Asian Style is karaoke in a private room. There are no strangers present. It is only you, and your invited friends and family - so you can sing your heart out with no worries of bothering strangers, and vice versa, not have to listen to stranges sing! The Karaoke facility is connected to Hoban Korean restaurant, which I have previously reviewed. Yes, I am a regular here (see my profile, "that in my next life, I want to be an idol singer", haha) They have English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and other languages--so much fun! have gone there with family, and close friends and recently went there with a group of friends from different Asian countires, and we individually sang in our own native language and then sang as a group in English. The Karaoke is open during the day, too - a plus! Rooms are rent by the hour so be sure to be timely. The more people in your party the better so you can split the cost. I understand since the Karaoke is owned by Hoban Restaurant, they offer room service too, if you want to make it a party. If you're planning on going in the evening or weekends, make sure to make reservations. The Karaoke Hosts are very nice too, so if it's your first time, be sure to ask how the Karaoke system works - they will be happy to show you. The rooms are clean, comfy, and there's a mirror, in the rooms--if you want to see yourself sing or even dance as you sing, which is very important if you are a wannabe idol ;) read more

Doremi is the best place to sing your heart out.... or to sing your lungs out after a few bottles of beer! My friends and I love to come here every so often to have an awesome fun night. I may not be a great singer, but after a few beers and shots of soju, I become one in my head! They frequently update their song lists, so you'll be able to sing hit songs that were recently released by artists like Justin Beiber and Macklemore's Thrifty Shop. It's an awesome experience... great place to call a bunch of friends and just have fun. Great customer service from the worker! We got to Do Re Mi a couple minutes before they opened and the worker let us in early and helped us find a couple of songs. Best host ever, considering he was also working in the restaurant next door! As for the song selection, I thought it was AMAZING! It was super up to date; they also had Japanese songs which helped because I went with a foreign exchange student from Japan. The Japanese selection allowed him to have as much fun as the rest of my friends and I! I totally recommend this place! I spent my birthday yesterday here and was so pleased!!! We ate at the restaurant there before we did karaoke. :) The food was over the top delicious and fulfilling! It was amazingly well made also! This place is ridiculously over-priced! 100 for a Tyku bottle which I can get for 20 bucks at the liquor store. We reserve the place for a friends birthday and got a warning saying that if they caught us drinking in the parking lot they will call the police.
