I don't usually leave reviews, but had to give a great big thanks to the staff at St. David's Emergency Care on Highway 61 in Bastrop. After another sleepless night of dealing with a respiratory infection, wheezing and coughing, I arrived at 6AM and was immediately greeted and whisked into a room for evaluation. They were on me like my dawgs at dinnertime. So attentive and empathetic to my condition. After the nurses completed the initial intake, Dr. Lewis listened to my description of symptoms patiently, confirmed the rattle in my lungs, ordered an x-ray and breathing treatment. Because of my history with asthma, he recommended a home nebulizer for emergencies. In my 66 yeas, no asthma specialist or family physician has ever recommended this, and I am so grateful!! Not breathing well after an incident like this creates anxiety, but having this device to supplement my inhalers definitely relieved my stress. The nurse supervisor who packed me off 1.5 hours later was just precious. Her manner, thoroughness, good humor and adorable country accent had me smiling as I walked out the doors. Thank you one and all - from Security for greeting me and alerting nurses to my arrival before I made it to the front desk, to both nurses checking me in, the x-ray tech, the supervisor and doctor. I was well cared for and am on the road to recovery! read more

Can't say enough about my experience at this ER. No waiting, promptly seen, immediate x-rays, in and out in a short time. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Dr. Peña prescribed meds, and they are spot-on. Hobbled in to the ER barely able to walk, and today the meds have me up and about with minimal discomfort. I wish we had a St. David's hospital in town but having the ER is better than nothing. My family has trusted St. David's since moving to Bastrop in 2006. I have gone to other networks and will never go back to them as long as there is a St. David's nearby. I have never received surprise bills, and in fact, I have received refunds from them over the years when the final calculations came out. Even though this is only an ER, The good thing is they will transfer you if needed to the hospital without a surprise private ambulance bill. I arrived tonight with back pain and was seen very quickly. The nurses and Dr were all great. Personable, friendly, attentive. They listened to everything and made sure I got what I needed to overcome the unpleasantness of my condition. The room was not huge but a comfortable size. While I didn't really enjoy being there due to the pain and things going on, the staff makes it a pleasant environment. Thanks you St David's for providing this ER in Bastrop. read more

If I could I would give this place ZERO stars, Went there for an allergic reaction left permanently handicapped after a ER nurse put a IV in my hand incorrectly left me with Venipuncture-Related Radial Nerve Injury To Left Index And Middle Finger permanently can't feel, move, etc. my left index finger and middle finger the ER nurse refused to stop digging around in my hand as I was screaming stop in pain the care is horrible DO NOT go here the staff is horrible read more

I was taken back and treated immediately even though they have already told me to get my gallbladder removed before. There was no judgment or hesitation with their care. They checked on me and treated me until the pain was manageable again. 10/10 one of the best places to go. I will be calling to schedule my gallbladder removal surgery on Tuesday! If anyone from that ER on 8-31-2024 is reading this, thank y'all so much!! read more

I received excellent care when I went in this morning after falling down hard on my left knee last night. After x-rays, I was diagnosed with a sprained knee and given a knee stabilizer and crutches. Kudos to nurses Aly and Kirk who were awesome! read more

A long time after BBB closed my complaint due to non-responsiveness, a St. David's Emergency Center response was submitted about this Feb visit. Basically, they state that several attempts were made to contact me without any follow-up by me, that the doctor had seen me during my visit, that their billing practice is disclosed up front, and if I have any billing concerns with the contracted physician to refer those concerns to Longhorn Emergency Medicine Associates. I received 2 voice mails and responded only to find I was sent to voice mail. Dr. Reyes never saw me. A technician (of the same last name), had seen me. Initially, St. David's stated that Dr. Reyes only reviewed my patient file and that constituted "seeing" me. When the billing rep had me sign multiple forms without knowing the content, I was told that my copay for the visit would probably be the only payment required. Interesting that this facility removes itself from any responsibility for associated billing by contracted help (as they are not employees of the hospital). I guess that absolves them. I find the lack of disclosure, the multiple billings, and the less-than honest response of this facility a clear indicator to avoid this place like the plague. Highly unprofessional, rude, condescending, and a facility only geared towards maximum profit at the expense of any patient gullible enough to visit. I wouldn't go back if it was the last place on earth. read more

Although the location may be convenient for when you don't wish to fight with traffic into Austin; it can be its own good/bad. This recent visit I took a parent to get checked out. Their care was quick, consistent and service was good, yet to completely overlook a diagnosis as Shingles is really alarming. yes, they may be having chest pain and all tests (including EKG) come back normal, yet you already have them in a gown and supposedly examined close...but to overlook something so painful and alarming as Shingles in an elderly patient---a bit alarmed. Not only did this patient come in with a viable illness and in pain but to have to endure the weekend through Wednesday of next week to see their physician and then be told by the "relief" doctor that it was Shingles...Very alarming!! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS ER! All the staff are rude, cold, don't look you in the eye, etc. The physician who saw me was a jerk and incompetent. The nurses were no better. I was there for a skin infection. I had three places lanced and packed. The plan was that I go back there in 2 days to remove packing. Instead I chose to go to St Davids 32nd street. This St Davids was the polar opposite. Staff introduced themselves, smiled, took complaints and concerns SERIOUSLY. And they said I should have had a culture done in Bastrop so they would know if it was staph or not. The good St Davids put me on a different treatment plan and were very specific about my care--told me exactly what I need to do AND looked me in the eye! They gave me thorough info about my issue. Do not go to this ER just because it's close. Drive to Austin! read more

Literally the worst hospital I have ever been to and I am in the medical field. Drive to Smithville or Austin. Don't waste your time here.

My son came to the ER in the middle of the night. He has severe anxiety, and is a difficult patient when it comes to medical procedures. The staff was excellent, there was no wait, and we were back home two hours later. Will totally be using this for our ER if we need it again. read more

Don't go there if you need blood drawn unless you physically have the lab paperwork with you. Their fax machine was having issues receiving the paperwork. No one is at the front desk anymore to check you in. I had to wait for someone to acknowledge my presence. What a waste of 30 minutes just to be told they can't help me! read more

Early this morning my son woke with a high fever so I pack him up and we head to this ER. I come to this hospital for all our family's emergency needs and they've always been great and in fact saved my daughters life about a year ago when they diagnosed her menengitis...until today. The triag nurse and other nurses were friendly and polite but Dr.Uyen Nguyen was cold and rude and visibly irritated. My son was coughing, very lethargic AND running a 102* fever with my temporal thermometer at home...I checked it several times. We get there and of course they try to use an oral one and they just don't work for small children. My son doesn't know how to use it correctly for a proper reading. They need a temporal or ear thermometer for small children. Of course it only reads 99* and I tell them its wrong. She treats me like I'm dumb and don't know how to check my kids for fever. My thermometer works great...trust me. They don't run any tests on him. Nothing. They gave him Motrin...I could have done that! She's rude not only to me but to my. 6 yr old son and now I have to take him somewhere else to be actually looked at. I can promise you that going to the ER at 630 in the morning is not my idea of fun and that's the very last place I'd rather be...that Dr treated us like we were wasting her time instead of doing HER JOB. I won't be back to that ER for a long time if ever. Avoid it if you can. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS ER. I went to the ER last week thought I was having a heart attack. I was in the room waiting on the doctor. It took them three sticks to get IV in my arm. That's not the problem. Here I am trying to stay calm as they told me to do. So my friend is rubbing my hand, heart and head to keep me calm. The registration nurse comes in and demands payment. I have a $150.00 deductible and insurance (Blue Cross, Blue Shield). I look at her and tell her that I haven't even seen the doctor yet and that I believe I am having a heart attack. The women keep demanding. I am fumbling with my purse as my head is killing me and every time I lift up, I become ill. She still doesn't get it. I basically threw my purse at her and told her to find the creditcard. These people are RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. I will never go there again. read more

My 75 year old father had a serious accident out of town and had surgery in Houston. They released him to return to Bastrop with no real aftercare plan, although he broke bones in both his legs and cannot bear any weight on them. He was home for less than 8 hours when he asked me to call EMS because he was in a lot of pain due to complications after surgery. The staff were great and had my father comfortable and pain free fairly quickly, but what really is prompting this review is the gratitude I feel for Dr. Cameron Keller, who attended my dad. Once his symptoms were alleviated and all the screenings and scans were done, she came in the room to tell us the good news that everything looked good, but then she SAT DOWN to talk to me, and asked me about my dad and his care. I explained that we were concerned about how well my 77 year old mother could take care of him, even with our help. She agreed my dad could fall and injure himself more or my mom get injured in trying to help him. And then she said "let me see what I can do" and spend the rest of the morning calling and advocating for my father to be admitted into a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Apparently it was not easy, but she did not give up. My dad ended up being transferred to Seton in Austin where he had a 2nd surgery and is now in a skilled nursing facility until his 3rd surgery can be scheduled. It has been a huge relief to know that he is being taken care of, and we would not be here if it want for Dr. Keller listening to us and advocating for my dad. There are so many things wrong with this place. And they all include the staff! We've been four times between me and my partner. And each time all but one of the staff were jerks, esp the doctors. Janie-the one who signs you in-was the only good staff. Each doctor I've seen have been cold and dismissive of our problems. The nurses were no better. The last time I went they sent me home saying it was probably the flu. That was December 23. Three days later my partner took me back as I was so weak I couldn't get out of bed. I don't remember much but my partner tells me that I had been in the ER less than 5 min when they said she needs hospital in Austin immediately. Went in ambulance to St David's on 32nd street. Put on life support. Was diagnosed with ARDS. Was given 40% chance to live. Spent 16 days on ventilator. Partner said all the doctors and staff, even cafeteria workers, were super. I was there for a month. So in essence I almost lost my life because of the incompetent medical staff. If we have an emergency, we're going to the Austin Saint David's. Looks to me like the staff are taught to be skeptical of your issue. Please don't go here!!!! read more

A few people ahead had to wait in a fairly long line. We just went for the CT scan and only waited about 20 mins. The scan was over in a couple minutes and we were out. All the staff was friendly and patient. No problems here. I'd consider coming here for an emergency if I needed to. read more

I am amazingly impressed with the St Davids Emergency Center in Bastrop. This is a top notch place from check in, very thorough examination, whole process. The Doctor and RN's were fabulous and very professional. Highly recommend. read more

After 5 visits because of elderly parent and my own experience, your satisfaction will depend on if you happen to get the right doctor on their rotation schedule. Two female doctors were competent and other three were the worst. Should have stayed home. Better yet--go to Austin or even Smithville. read more

If you want to be overcharged with tons of random bills from random people, then please visit this place. And if you think you've paid them all, $1500 in my case, there is another one! But don't you worry, after 90 days they will put you in collections. read more

Took my father in law there last night with a pain in his arm, thinking it was nerve pain. He was restless and honestly, never really seen him not able to deal with pain before. When we got there at 10 pm, yes it was a little busy. I understand that they go in order of emergency, and accept that. But, by 2am, we were the only people left there. They finally moved him to a room for a dr to access him. The nurses were all walking around eating, nobody had any conversation with us, and at 3 am we were asking the staff if he was going to be seen. The Dr finally came in and asked what was going on. When my father in law was trying to explain to him, the Dr kept interrupting not letting my father in law finish a sentence. The Dr told him he would give him something for the pain and a name of a neurologist since it was probably a nerve. At 4am, still no medicine, and nobody checking in on us, we just walked out. So we wasted six hours of our time to rude, non communicating, apparently hungry staff that gave us no help. My wife, was with us, and she is in her last year of her BSN program, and works at hospitals regularly for her clinical hours. She was amazed at how poorly this place is ran, and the little concern or interaction shown by the staff. I wouldn't go here again for any reason, and would even drive to Austin to avoid this place. I hope somebody at St. Davids see's this, but if not, I hope this will at least serve as a warning before anyone goes there to be seen. read more

Absolutely horrible. The building itself is nice, but a clean hospital means nothing if its filled with arrogance. The nurses and doctor I was being treated by were rude, contradicting, and to be completely honest terrible. I was told that they could not help unless I was passing out, or comatose. That is what would make my situation an "emergency". Illness aside, they explained nothing. They were not thorough about either of the tests that they did (after basically begging for them to look deeper into the issue). Absolutely no bedside manner. They spoke to myself, and my sister in a condescending tone. I felt embarrassed, and insulted. My intelligence was questioned about diagnoses I have had for half of my life. Although I am not a doctor, and I have not been to medical school, I HAVE lived with this since I can remember. When you live with something for so long you educate yourself on your condition to improve the quality of your life. I later found out that I was even provided false information by the doctor. All in all, save yourself the trouble. What i have said here does not even cover what I went through at this hospital. I have never left such a negative review, and I certainly hope I will not have to in the future. read more

professional, short wait, very clean, Doctor and RN completely competent and good bedside manner. In house labs, tests ran, everyone from the front desk to the various med techs on duty for that night (we went after 10pm, came home by 2am) were completely courteous. I hesitate to give this glowing review, knowing they will get busier and there will be longer wait times etc, but it wouldn't be fair not to let people know, being from Bastrop, we have needed for so long, just this type of center. I am certain if my daughter had something very serious we would have been transferred to one of their primary hospitals. Way to go St. David's, thanks! read more

This is the worst hospital in Bastrop County. Make the drive to Austin! Front desk ER lady played dumb and was not at all helpful with insurance. My husband had a kidney stone a month or so ago and I was very happy with the treatment he received and the promptness to try and ease his pain. I have worked in an Er many years and I hear all the complaints that go on, but this place did good by us and we would use again if needed. read more

Worst ER visit EVER. Pompous dr, Henry David, with a very bad attitude. I was screaming and moaning in pain from dislocated shoulder. Would not give me pain med until I sat exactly the way he wanted me to in the bed even though he could have given me an IV on side of wrist. Was angry and short with me for not being able to move. Male nurse had same bitchiness toward me. My husband got angry and asked if he was a dr or not and could give pain killer. Henry David got angry and said he wouldn't treat me if my husband didn't apologize. These ppl are pompous asses. I'd been there once before with my son and had a different dr who was very nice, although receptionist was very rude and cold and they sent us home with someone else's X-ray.
