You get ignored and have to be virtually dying to get treated with any degree of care. I do not know what others have to brag about regarding this ER. I don't have space to describe the lack of care I got in this ER. I do not like hospitals in the first place. However, this place will double down on your dislike. The reviewers on here giving these one star reviews are telling the truth. It happened to me. This should not be your first choice. They do have some wonderful doctors connected to the hospital that I respect but you will now be seeing them in the ER. It is a different world. read more

Horrendous ER experience. My elderly husband and I spent 13 hours, being released at 3:30 AN. YES THEY WERE SLAMMED. YES THEY WERE SHORT STAFFED. But they failed miserably. He had impacted bowels so they gave him something to stop him up!! Sent us home. He was so exhausted he fell getting out of the car. I had to call the fire department to lift him and get him into the house and out of the 40 degree weather. The next day we had to have him transported to the Bon Secours Eastside ER where they did an abdominal scan and discovered the impaction. He was hospitalized IMMEDIATELY. The impaction had caused urethra constrictions necessitating catheterization. He went downhill and died in a month. The pathetic "care" was inexcusable, so essentially they weren't "doing their best!" read more

Phone system sux, hung up on me 10 times today and my mother is very ill. This happened the last time she was in there. To think that a hospital system does not have an adequate phone system is beyond belief. Save money on that asinine BOT system and invest in a good phone service. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Stuck in ambulance 20 minutes stretcher would come out. Then in hallways about 30 minuites the go to very back left in there forevet.nurse wasn't friendly. Then got labs right away.the he says he wants a catscan so another hour just to go. Then back to room no nurse no dr nobody like a ghost town. Then they cane moved me to front called 3 times to see if I can just go home. Then she says doing discharge with no Dr telling me nothing. More have to wait at least 30 minutes for transport.its 5:14am. I'm not happy.got her 8:30pm. Have catheter bag hasn't been emptied all of these hours I was told only go 300 ml then dump it because you can get infection.not very happy. read more

The facility is under renovation. That said, the functional parts are state of the art. The staff is excellent. Over two nights, the food was better than the average hospital meal, delivered hot and presented in an appetizing manner. The floor nurses were great. read more

At Francis emergency room was a total mess. The room my father in law was in was nasty. He was there to get blood and the guy who was helping dripped blood all across the floor which was nasty to begin with. When they went to flush his port, they laid the tube of fluid on a paper that had been printed off. Germs are spread in many ways and this is awful for cancer patients! Clean it up! read more

Went to the ER today and they were GREAT! I was there early morning and didn't have a long wait at all! I was called right back for vitals and had a room within 20 mins. The nurses and staff were great. No visitors were allowed bc of covid but that is understandable. Waiting room could have been cleaner. Under the chairs had trash. It didn't look like it had been swept or dusted in a while. So who knows if they sanitize thru out the day! Was there for 3 hrs but I don't think that's too bad for all the test and scans they did. I was very happy that they were so thorough! Overall good visit considering the circumstance. read more

This continues to be our hospital of choice and we drive pass other hospitals, closer to our home, just to come here. Twice now, for emergency care, excellent service, superb medical care. Fast, courteous check-in; explanations are clear and easy to comprehend . Calm, clean, and quiet. We will always choose to be treated at St. Francis Downtown. read more

So I have been sick with a stomach bug for the past 3 days. Vomiting, chills, fever, you know the drill. Early this morning, my grandmother called for an ambulance because she wanted the doctors at the hospital to check me.....because she found me crumpled on the floor choking on vomit. They did not get MY consent to go. They did NOT do a preliminary health check on me until they actually got me in the ambulance.....and then, when I was crying out in pain, I was ignored. I was also just tossed in the wheelchair with JUST a pair of 4 day old pajamas on (VERY short cotton shorts that I NEVER wear outside and my grandfather's XXL T-Shirt. My hair was also a mess....and it was FREEZING outside. I was very humiliated and cold. They could have at LEAST let me grab a jacket and change into something clean, no? When we arrived at the hospital, they did an x-ray and pulled blood, but DESPITE them telling me I was, in fact, dehydrated....they didn't offer me any fluids at all. I also SCREAMED for help SEVERAL times and was ignored repeatedly until I tried to get up myself.....and then, when I was coming back to my room, I stopped to rest for a moment against the wall because I was very weak and shaking like a leaf in the wind and the nurse snatched me by the arm (and yes, it DID hurt) and practically power-walked me to the room. There was also some sort of nasty looking smutz on the blanket she gave me. It was stuck to the blanket like it was an old band-aid or something. I asked for water repeatedly because my mouth felt like cotton and they were denying me fluids...and FINALLY, (5 minutes before discharging me) they gave me water. Usually I like St. Francis and I find the doctors and nurses VERY professional and kind. Not so much this visit though. I suppose, on the bright side, the medicine they gave me HAS finally stopped me running to the garbage can.....thank God. We have bonded these last three days. We are close now. lol read more

Terrible!!! Their negligence killer my Mother. She was in there for 9 days. Every day it was if we get this test back and it's good you can go home...for days expecting to go home each day. Finally on the 9th day my father showed up that morning as he did each morning. He walked in the room and could tell she hadn't been checked on that morning or through the night. He realized she was crashing. He went into the hallway and demanded a nurse in which they replied they are all busy. He then yelled in the hallway I need a Dr my wife is crashing. Finally a Dr showed up and confirmed what my Dad thought....rushed her to ICU and she died. The Dr even said it was their negligence.../someone dropped the ball!!!!!! Beware!! The Hospital needs to educate its workers to let them know how to treat people. The emergency crew treats people like garbage or animals if they have to come for you at night. They belittle you especially if you are drunk or under the influence of drugs. Hello!!! if people take alcohol is because they are NOT okay! and they need help! They are hurting!!! and here comes along St. Francis personnel to make them feel even worse!!! I was taken by ambulance because I passed out, and my son told me how one of the guys called me "sweetie," and made him feel bad, like belittling me. I am a 55-year-old lady. If that were all, I would not be writing this. I do not want another person to be treated like this. Basically, they stripped me of my clothes in front of a bunch of men, embarrassed me, yelled at me, and they get away with it. They still have employment and it should not have been treated like that. They need to treat people with dignity even if they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They seem to not respect people who are drunk or drugged. In this day and age, for a hospital to treat people like garbage because they are under the influence of alcohol, should be criminal!!!!! If they think we do not remember how they treated us, they are wrong!! I remember every moment I spent in the hospital and everything they did to me!!! read more

This hospital needs serious updating, better janitorial and more attentive nurses. My father was up there recently and I was amazed how lazy this place has become. The hosptial look nasty and old. I had to remind the nurses (who make good money) to do things they should know to do. If Bon Secours can afford the millions to have their name on that stupid arena in downtown Greenville, then they can afford to fix that hospital. read more

I've waited a while before writing this. It's because we received news that no one would ever want to hear. All I know is after my sons major, major surgery. The nurses and staff on the second floor were the best. Made my son as comfortable as could be. Every hour on the hour 24-7 checking on him making sure he is ok. Asking if any of us myself and his father need anything. Coffee around the clock for us. Warm blankets as we sit with him. I want to say thank you to the whole hospital but especially to the second floor. Their were so many, Casey, Nathan, Steve, so many more. Such wonderful care he received. We know we will be back again and again. I hope our son will still receive the same care. read more

If you have the option of going somewhere else, please strongly consider it. Severely understaffed and it is reflected in patient care. The nurses and staff are very nice when interacting individually but they are just spread way too thin. Everything is reactive and delayed. First night was awakened twice by technicians coming into the wrong room. Service was absolutely horrible!!!!!!I am so angry at the way my wife and I were treated tonight at this hospital. I have been coming to this emergency room since it was opened. Never will again! We were put back in a room fairly quick. Waited and waited for someone to come in. My wife was in a lot of pain and needed emergency assistance. I step outside and ask if this was normal waiting like this and my wife needed someone. Lovely Anna marches in and aggressively blurts out there are other sick people in front of my wife and that its normal to wait this long. She was very disrespectful in front of my wife and mother in law. Honestly, I was shocked at the way she spoke to me. Outside our door they are all laughing and eating cake. I walk outside and try to come back in and they ignore me and tell me I cant come back in. I had to call the police to get back in to see my wife! UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!! Anna and another lovely employee decide to come outside to tell me they will let me back in and that i shouldn't have called police. I informed them the cop will be here in a min. The cop did let me back in but informed me that they said I threatened them????? WOW!!! Had to lie to cover their butts! I will make sure this gets exposure and gets to the proper people! You should be ashamed of yourselves! The lady at the front that took our payment... Thank you! You are what the others should strive to be like!! I am a local business owner born and raised here. I would give them a 0 if possible. In the time that I was there they LOST at least 4 people. People were waiting for over 5 hours just to get a room!! They were very rude. Continuously lost patients. Had a few patients brought back to the waiting room when they already had a room!! It was ridiculous!! I would never EVER go to this emergency room! read more

I brought my brother here due to servere abdominal pains and waited over an hour for him to get a room and over 2 hours for him to get test results. While I was sitting in the waiting room, this man was sitting there moaning and yelling for over 2 hours. He went up to the desk several times barley able to walk, talk, or breathe and still never got called back. I really hope he got doctors attention because he was obviously ill and in a tremendous amount of pain. read more

I use adult and family center in Mauldin sc. They are part of the family of bon secure. I was charged $159.00 for a phone appointment to simply ask about a referral to a urologist. That's $15.00 per minute. The call only lasted 10 minutes. Then I was told I needed blood work. The doctor I spoke to wasn't even my doctor. Her husband is working in her office. I felt like she was too busy for a long time patient. I asked if she could send the lab request to labcorp. He had no idea would have to call me back. No call back. He sent a referral to a bonsecure urologist. Guess what never got a call from them either. When I called then to ask about the lab request I was told I need to come in to pick up the labs. Well that was when I said just make me an appointment to do the labs. They set up a time for Monday morning no call to verify that was a good time. They sent info to my chart but my email was hacked and didn't get the info. Never rely on a computer they go go down. unprofessional and really do not care. I was in pain and ended up at md360 a prizma owned office and will be changing doctors. read more

We were visiting Greenville last week from Virginia when my husband had to go to the ER at 1:20am. We walked in, went immediately to triage and taken to room. Within 5 minutes the doctor followed the nurse. Told the nurse what needed to be done. We went in and out within one hour and 15 minutes. I couldn't believe it. The service and care was great. Our local hospitals take all day if you have to go to the ER. We have Ben Seours Hospitals in Richmond and been satisfied totally. read more

I recently had a 1 night stay in St Francis after my surgery. I was charged $435.60 for a mere back brace/compression belt. My Dr had told me it would cost $150. My Dr even said something to them about the high charge. The compression belt is hardy worth $50. This is robbery and so wrong. The whole hospital bill was almost as much as the surgery itself. read more

We only use St. Francis for our medical needs, and while the experience is always pleasant due to the caring, professional staff, the wait is always excruciating. Waiting in the ER, waiting in the corridors, waiting for a room, waiting for test results... there's an awful lot of waiting. And time moves incredibly slow here. People are rushing back and forth, but they always seem to be rushing to someone else. I've been here since 3:30 (it's currently 11:30...) and in that time my grandfather has received an x-ray and a CAT scan and a can of Pepsi. I just want to go home. I went in for my preoperative. I met really nice and helpful Paramedics. One tried to assist me but he couldn't. A nice looking well dressed gentleman approached us and offered to personally escort me. Turns out I was in the wrong building. Our conversation as we walked between building was hilarious and enlightening. It put me at ease and calmed my nervous. When we finally arrived at Pre-Admission, he advised me to have someone in the office call the shuttle to take me to my car. I learned that charming helpful gentleman that took time out of his way to take a nervous patient across two buildings was the CEO of St. Francis. Now this is the kind of hospital I am glad to be trusting with my procedure. read more

I had colon cancer surgery at St. Francis Downtown in June 2018. While I was very happy with my surgeon, my hospital experience was pitiful. My main complaint as that the surgical floor was severely understaffed. I needed assistance getting out of bed to use the bathroom, most often the wait was 20 minutes to a half hour resulting in accidents & a rash that took weeks to get rid of. Physical therapy was nonexistent because there was no one to assist getting me up & moving. I decided to leave the Bon Secour system to Greenville Health & have had fabulous care inpatient and outpatient. read more

Our family was treated horribly in this ER. My 6 y/o had hurt himself & needed xrays. The nurses are rude, disrespectful and extremely unprofessional. No one, doctors or nurses, helped us for 2hrs after being seated on a hallway bed in the ER w/ open rooms. when I asked the many nurses who were at the station who my nurse was, she refused to tell me. YES, refused to tell me or offer assistance. I'm absolutely disgusted with this hospital! First and last time here. I'll be filing a complaint with my insurance carrier BCBS as well read more

Am I the only person to find it extremely frustrating to have arranged outpatient surgery in 24 hours but they still haven't told me the time to be there? I need to arrange a ride and babysitting. Even the cable company can give a range - these folks act like that is just too much to ask! read more
