Took my mother yo the ER she passed out and fell. Everyone was super nice the receptionist the EMS people the nurses even the doctor. But they never told me why she passed out or what they thought could have happened. She could not walk but they sent her home. I was in tears and finally a very nice guy Joel ask what was wrong I told him I had no idea how I was going to get her in the house since she could not walk. He called an ambulance to take her back home for me. But when I get home she needs to go to the restroom and I can't help her what am I to do ? I call back to the ER and told them since she can't walk im unable to give her the care that she needs the girl on the phone told me we'll we discharged her there's nothing we can do. Well thanks a lot. I'll figure it out myself. But then mother's PT called me wanted to see her on Tuesday I told him about it and he's the only one that has helped me on getting her to a rehab. It's terrible to have to go to a doctor these days knowing that your going to be in the same spot you started. Be kind read more

On September 9, 2024, I had outpatient surgery at St. Francis Eastside for a complete prolapsed uterus. I had been dealing with this issue since July of 2023. I went through physical therapy last year, but at some point it had completely prolapsed, and had started to affect my quality of life. Everyone at St. Francis Eastside was so nice and friendly to me and my family. My experience was positive from check in, to the nurse who took me back to get my vitals, the pre op nurse, the anesthesiologist , the OR team to the discharge nurses EVERY ONE explained to me what they were doing, and made me feel so comfortable and at ease. I was so afraid of having surgery and of being put under. Unfortunately I had to wear the catheter home for 4 days, but I'm blessed to be on the other side of my surgery, still some soreness, still recovering, feeling stronger and better as each day passes. 6-10-21: Currently sitting in a room after yesterday's total left knee replacement. I have nothing but great things to say about the doctors, nurses, and the rest of the staff here. They are all truly amazing front line workers. Everyone has been extremely nice and helpful and I really feel this is their normal personality and not a front. Each person that has come into my room, for whatever reason, made sure I was ok and always asked if I needed anything. I can't say enough great things about St Francis Eastside. They really made me feel like I was the only one here. And the scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and turkey sausage was pretty good. Well, it wasn't horrible. This is the only place where the therapist pays full attention to me. Other places the therapist spent time partying with other staff. I could not stand it. Here I am the focus of there time. Isn't that what they should do. Well, at St. Francis Eastside, they do. When I am called in to my treatment I am their main focus for 40 minutes. They do a good job guiding me towards regaining my health. I leave with home exercises I can do. My progress is evaluated and I am getting better. Thank you read more

Normally I would give St Francis Eadtside 5 stars but I had surgery recently and encountered a couple of issues. Hannah who was part of the on-call team October 2nd was extremely rushing. She seemed like she had something more important to do than deal with me when it was time for my release. She called the next day to see how I was feeling and totally disregarded how I was feeling. I was intubated and in the process my throat got scratched. I have a piece of meat hanging and it's extremely annoying. I try to clear my throat and I feel it moving. It's day 4 since surgery and my throat is still hurting and that piece is still dangling. I hope St Francis hasn't resorted to hiring just anyone. read more

My mother was at St Francis Downtown in January with covid. She came out a week later smelling of concentrated urine. She was back at St Francis downtown in April. She was not cleaned the first 3 days she was there which is important because she is incontinent. The bathroom had bandages on the floor and the toilet was clogged. She was released prematurely to go to rehab only to end up being taken to the ER less than a week later. She is now at St Francis Eastside and called the nurse button. She told the person that answered she had to go to the bathroom and the response was "No". I am furious. The nurse supervisor Melissa and the patient advocate Audrey denied their staff member would ever say that. My mother and I heard her say No. The care at this hospital is substandard. Greenville Memorial is superior to the St Francis system. It's sad that they fall under the Christian umbrella. read more

Emergency room is a joke. Daughter in for gallbladder attack and the intense pain associated. Spent eight hours in waiting room, with only triage and a half Ultrasound during that time. No consideration for the amount of pain, and others with less critical ailments moved ahead of her. I have been in other hospitals for kidney stones and know how it SHOULD BE HANDLED! Left at 2:00 am - won't be taking her back!!!!! Can not recommend!!!!! read more

Was told to go to the ER for an EKG. I walked in and got my EKG checked plus other tests like blood tests. Got in late morning and was able to leave late in the afternoon. This was not a life or death emergency but got an astonishing bill of over $3000!!!!!! The bill shows I got billed at the highest level. I would think one would get charged on a life or death visit. I disputed the level I was charged with the billing department and also filed a complaint with my insurance company. St Francis refused to budge and even refused to give me enough time to pay it. I got no more than 2 years to pay which is still over $100/month I am trying to pay. I will try to avoid this place next time and recommend you do also. For them to try to siphon as much as money out of somebody, I wonder if this they are true to their faith as a 'Catholic' hospital. read more

I wasn't impressed at all. The nurses (some) were pretty good and likely are the busiest of everyone, but nothing about this place made me feel any better that dad was there. They (medical professionals) acted like they knew all about my dad within minutes and relied on their piss poor observations and conclusions to treat him. Even after a family meeting I wasn't impressed - I was sure he wasn't doing well and my assumptions were spot on as he passed away last week! read more

I was in the ER, Monday, Sept. 30th and had wonderful care while going through several tests. Dr. Hoffert MD was the attending physician. His manners with patients is fantastic. He is very personable, explains things very well and thoroughly diagnose's a patient's situation. His patients cannot help but relax and feel confident in his work, The two nurses, Ashley and Roxy were confident in the procedures they performed. Very pleasant experience for this patient. Service was absolutely horrible!!!!!!I am so angry at the way my wife and I were treated tonight at this hospital. I have been coming to this emergency room since it was opened. Never will again! We were put back in a room fairly quick. Waited and waited for someone to come in. My wife was in a lot of pain and needed emergency assistance. I step outside and ask if this was normal waiting like this and my wife needed someone. Lovely Anna marches in and aggressively blurts out there are other sick people in front of my wife and that its normal to wait this long. She was very disrespectful in front of my wife and mother in law. Honestly, I was shocked at the way she spoke to me. Outside our door they are all laughing and eating cake. I walk outside and try to come back in and they ignore me and tell me I cant come back in. I had to call the police to get back in to see my wife! UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!! Anna and another lovely employee decide to come outside to tell me they will let me back in and that i shouldn't have called police. I informed them the cop will be here in a min. The cop did let me back in but informed me that they said I threatened them????? WOW!!! Had to lie to cover their butts! I will make sure this gets exposure and gets to the proper people! You should be ashamed of yourselves! The lady at the front that took our payment... Thank you! You are what the others should strive to be like!! I am a local business owner born and raised here. Awful awful. We were there Monday the 3rd and Wednesday the 5th of February. There was no one there when we walked in. Blood and x-rays were taken. It took over 3 hours to get a diagnosis which was low magnesium. My husband also mentioned he had chills. The diagnosis for that was a virus. Wednesday we were back in the ER again. My husband couldn't stop shaking. Again they did exactly the same tests and X-Rays they did Monday. Why the same exact tests were done is beyond me. Could it be that we have very good insurance. Diagnosis, a virus. I asked the Dr. if that is a catch all that they use when they don't know what is wrong and he said yes. Hopefully we will not have to visit an ER again. If so we will be using the Spartanburg Medical Center. It certainly can't be any worse. Today is Friday the 7th. Our GP just called to let my husband know he has a strep infection. This is something that should have been detected on our first ER visit. The minute clinic at CVS could have diagnosed this immediately. Like I said they knew we had good insurance. read more

Absolutely incompetent financial aid staff. My fiance put in an application for financial aid and after more than a week, no call or email. She went to look on her information to find that her application was rejected due to a variety of factors. I am not upset at her application being rejected. I am upset, however, at the zero communication done by the financial team. My fiance was proactive in looking for an answer, but what if she hadn't? What if she had waited and waited for a response, defaulting her medical payments and destroying her credit. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

First Off Let Me Start By Saying I Am 7 weeks Pregnant. Went to the emergency room to be seen due to not being able to eat and dehydration. Got there at 530pm and didn't leave till 12am.. And the intake nurse (a man) was so rude and unprofessional. Didn't get taken back until 8 pm wasn't seen by a doctor Tull 9 and he comes in rude as ever talking about how do you even know your 7 weeks pregnant. No Star.!! b/t 5 & 6pm last night ( Sun ) I tried calling the ER ( st. Francis er ) from a CVS where I had my medication filled and I had an allergic reaction to the meds but Operator HUNG UP ON ME simply because I asked for the person in charge of the ER to help me..... I want her talked too... when connected to the er the operator that answered ( female btw ) tried to block me from speaking to anyone else. I tried to explain to her that I was at the ER & perscribed a medication which I reacted too and needed a Doctor to replace this med. her attitude was aggressive and poor & when I said quote.... ( I dont want to talk to you I want to talk to the person in authority or your boss ) Operator hung up on me and I didnt even yell. Who was this operator and how many others has she been unprofessional to?????? SUNDAY NOV. 4 @ approximately 5:30 6 pm or 5 to 6 pm at EAST SIDE ST FRANCIS MEDICAL CENTER OFF PELHAM Road HUNG UP ON ME because I was upset over a allergic reaction to a antibiotic perscribed by one of their er doctors..... I was calling due to CVS pharmacist claiming I had to call the er myself and get something else perscribed which I did right there at a CVS roperr mtn rd. on their phone and got hung up on because I asked to speak to whoever was in charge of er. Pharmacist in disbelief finally called the er doc for me..... What in the world ... I went in tonight with my roommate who had been struggling with severely fluctuating blood pressure, low oxygen, and kidney issues. The lady didn't even ask for my roommate's history or list of medications (very vital to any ER visits she has, as she suffers from asthma, a nonstructural arrhythmia, and much more). Waiting time was very short so we thought everything would be fine. We get back, and when the lady saw a sort-of-normal, sort-of-high blood pressure, she immediately thought she knew everything about my roommate (or more than me, her roommate did, anyway) and didn't care about anything else we said. She said fluctuating blood pressure happens throughout the day, which is true, but it doesn't usually jump by twenty within ten minutes. When we told her this she asked for proof. Gave it to her and she blamed it on the blood pressure cuff used (she said it wasn't calibrated), which was specially prescribed to my roommate by a doctor and is very accurate. Tried to tell the lady about my roommate's nonstuctural arrhythmia and tachycardia, but didn't seem concerned at all (this type of arrhythmia can be a huge problem when it comes to blood pressure). Told my roommate she was perfectly fine. The worst part of it all? My roommate's oxygen was low, and the lady was literally staring at the screen the entire time and said nothing about it. Didn't even write it down. . . Even though I could literally hear my roommate wheezing. Came here because her last ER visit at a different place didn't go well. Left with the thought that this is the worst service both of us have ever seen in our lives. If my roommate passes out tonight or finds out her blood pressure cuff is in fact calibrated correctly, we could pretty much sue the ER. We will not be coming back here again. read more

This hospital has a major MRSA problem and it is a known issue yet they do not warn you about it. My husband contracted it here getting a procedure done. He was then a patient in this hospital for a week due to the infection, then back again because the antibiotics they gave him caused kidney damage. There is also a MAJOR problem with communication at this place. I don't think the staff ever talks to each other about the patients.
