First of all let me say that all the reviews that I read below were NOT reviews of The Village at…read moreIncarnate Word; they were reviews of the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) -- an entirely different entity! The Village at Incarnate Word is a Senior Living Community located next door to UIW, but not part of UIW. The Village offers independent living, two levels of assisted living, licensed by the state of Texas, a memory care area, also state licensed and a 60 bed nursing care area, also licensed by Texas. The Village at Incarnate Word offers apartment style living options in all areas except the nursing care, which is mostly private rooms with baths, although there are a few double rooms available. A wide variety of activities are available for all residents, including concerts, plays, sporting events and the opportunity to audit classes at UIW. The staff are dedicated and the residents are friendly. My mom was in the nursing area for two years and received very good care. I would not hesitate to recommend The Village at Incarnate Word for retirement living.

My mother has lived at The Forum since 2010; first in Independent Living, then Assisted Living and now Skilled Nursing. The facility, food and activities have been consistently excellent and the staff has always been professional, attentive and friendly. The staff's actions the evening of February 20, 2017 however deserve special recognition and are the most recent example of their dedication to serving residents. A tornado struck that area of San Antonio that Sunday evening at about 10:30 pm. The night staff responded quickly and efficiently, as the entire staff was recalled, to calmly and effectively evacuate resident, many to safe areas within the facility. This task was especially difficult given the large number of older and infirmed residents and the time of night, especially on a weekend. The facility received moderate damage, the weather threat passed, and no residents were harmed. Clean-up and repairs began the next morning. I visited The Forum on March 6, 2017. Repairs continue but operations have returned to normal. It surprised me to learn that many residents, my mother included, still did not realize the extent of the danger or damage. I conveyed my thanks to Kristi Allen, Director of Community Relations, but words can not adequately express the gratitude my family and I have for the staff. This was, quite simply, another example of the excellence we've come to expect from the staff at The Forum at Lincoln Heights.

The magnificent cruise director, Randy Stevens, greeted my mom and I on a visit in November 2019 and by Valentines 2020 she was moved in and loving her new apartment. Pets are allowed...well maybe not a St. Bernard but small pets, sure! Community living at its best. Regular trips to HEB. Car service for doctor and dental appointments. An in-house chaplain and church services on Sundays. So many features to list. My mom picked a winner and we couldn't be happier!

Easy access to 410, a great location. The kitchens are a nice size with ample cabinet space. Management is excellent--Melissa and Tiffnie are both wonderful. They truly take care of the residents and maintain the property very well. Their attention to detail and responsiveness really define what great customer service should be. Overall, I would highly recommend if you are over 55 and looking for a place to live.

They keep it maintained well. The only issue I have is homeless people that live in the basement area. The management told me that if I see a homeless person within the building or grounds, I need to call the police. Essentially, they want residents to take care of the problem. She's a shady and seedy person that only cares about money. She hires incompetent people who just want a roof over their head and food but doesn't want to care for your love one. My father developed pneumonia in one her homes that she would not provide heat in. And was served top ramen and 7-11 pizza and did not get 24 hour care. We have text messages from the caregiver telling us she will not call 911 after us asking her to do so since we live in California. My father died of pneumonia after 45 days in her care.
