Dammit! I need some clean underwear! NOW!…read more SITREP When we're here at the Fountain Bay ranch in St. Maries, ID, we are dealing with sparse amenities. No bathtubs. No showers. Not even flush toilets - it's outhouse-latrine time! SETUP Fountain Bay is a ranch-work in progress, as we cultivate the surrounding land, work with the livestock, and build a house along the St. Joe river. But that means we get dirty & grimy (& smelly & stinky), and in desperate need of cleaning our clothes. For ourselves, Uncle Gary, Cousin Dale and myself have no problem jumping in the pristine (but FRIGID..*Brrrr!*) St. Joe river and clean ourselves in river-water. However, cleaning clothes requires some more cleaning effort (and drying effort if you don't want your clothes to stay damp). RIVERBEND LAUNDRY This is when we pack up the truck with our (considerable) dirty laundry, our wifi'ing laptops, some drinks & munchies, and make a couple-hour geek fest with the whole laundry experience by heading to Riverbend Laundry. With a multitude of washers, and dryers, and vending machines full of laundry detergents, and softeners, and other food & drink vending machines, we really have all we need to keep up happy. We only wish there were more outlets since we have to position ourselves in some rather awkward ways over laundry tables to do some wifi'ing. But then again, I don't think that was part of the original business plan when this establishment started some years ago either. THE LOWDOWN A great place to do our laundry and then some!

Decent Gas, But Better For Stocking Up Cooler Ice…read more SITREP This is one of the three (3) gas stops I'll make in St. Maries. [There are 2 other nearby gas stations but their more prices for gas just don't make it worthwhile.] THE SETUP This is the first gas station choice as we come from my uncle's homestead and cross the St. Joe River into St. Maries. Though it's not the best gas price, they have a great ice stock we fully utilized in the coolers back at the homestead. In addition, they have a huge dumpster, so if we had not had an opportunity to visit the dump (since it is the opposite direction), this makes is hella convenient to unload the 2 or 3 bags of trash we have in the back of the pickup that we can unload immediately, without having it bang around in the back of the truck (or taking up space) while running other hardware errands town. THE LOWDOWN A great little service station with extra amenities to make our lives homesteading a bit easier. ;)

My heater in truck is dead ! I called to schedule a appointment and told them I had to wait because I live a half hour away. Walked in the door and he was snapping at me. I told him I couldn't leave I have no where to go. He said the parts won't be there till later in afternoon so I can wait but it will be a long wait. All while speaking to me with polite rudeness. He asked for my keys and I stood there in shock. So after a 2 min pause i said Do you normally treat customers badly first thing when they walk in the door? I said your snapping at me and you knew I couldn't leave the truck. So I said is this because I wouldn't let you over charge me the first time I came in for a tuneup? He said no but then the father co owner snapped at his son and left the office . Finally Fanny gave me my keys and said good bye. I was so hurt and felt so abused by him and his cruelty. So I drove to fast Eddie's and met. Josh! In sobbing tears he heard what happened and will see if he can fix it for me. Very loving! We are cold and hungry . Woke up at 6 to get to saint Marie's by 8. Haven't had anything to eat and the money I am using to fix this came from family after them knowing I was having no heat in car they came together to help me pay for it. Mitchell says mama blessed are the poor. Jennifer and I are thawing in the shop and praying for patience and hunger pains to pass. God is good so we are optimistic that we will get it fixed Katrina the owner and employee josh are good loving people. Please pray for us and them . Including Danny and his father may they humble themselves and learn from how they hurt others . As Jesus said we are all to love our neighbors but the number one was to love God with our whole heart mind and soul and the second is to love our neighbors as we do ourselves.

Another time i brought it in for an expensive repair only to get a call a couple hours later saying they did some digging and it wasn't what i thought and they had fixed the issue for $180 in less than half the time. Good and honest auto shops are few and far between, this place raises the bar.

The manager is just out of touch and run the marina thru fear tactics and intimidation. If ya upset her you have to write an apology letter and walk on egg shells the rest of the season. The restaurant is managed and operated by an outside party, and it is amazing.
