This place used to be the best kept secret on the lake...now with the new management, it is the laughing stock of the lake. Horrible management for the marina. The manager is just out of touch and run the marina thru fear tactics and intimidation. If ya upset her you have to write an apology letter and walk on egg shells the rest of the season. New owners have changed the menu. It's limited and now more pricey then shooters! We walked in and couldn't believe they took everything down. It has zero charm. We were told we could have hot dogs or burgers. We looked around and saw several people that ordered off the menu. We waited almost an hour and a half for odd tasting burgers. The people next to us were complaining about the food. Waste of gas to be told you can't have the normal menu and then get lousy burgers that cost a fortune. We won't be back.... It's been disappointing for awhile. The new owners should have listened to what the regulars wanted changed. Service is still completely lacking. A half hour for drinks is ridiculous. Disappointed again! Brought daughter and grandkids visiting from Georgia. Outta 6 meals only one looked good. Fish greasy and slight burnt, coconut shrimp way burnt, bota bing burger nothing like the past.... heard from other friends not good anymore but went anyway because atmosphere good and in past was good. Our family's favorite summertime, lakeside hangout has lost it's soul. Server placed cups with full fingers and thumb touching rims of our drinks. YUCK! 2 servers didn't know restaurant hours of operation, nor which days they are open. Extremely limited menu options. Recorded VERY loud club dancing music. At 4:30 pm, we sat as far away from speaker as possible and we still couldn't talk to each other at the same table. We are so very disappointed in the new corporate owner's choices for change. My husband have always enjoyed a meal or two at Conklin Marina... we have frequented the southend of the lake several times from April- September for the past 20 years. We had heard through the lake grapevine that the marina was under new ownership and wanted to give the restaurant a try as we have never been disappointed with the food, service, drinks, entertainment and environment under the old owners. We walked away today saddened as we lost one of our go to places for food on the lake. The menu is very limited and extremely expensive for the southend of the lake. My husband and I had a burger cup of coffee and a coke... the bill was $40.00. The burgers came with a choice of fries or salad and I chose the salad which is exactly what I got... a pile of lettuce with absolutely nothing else mixed in... no tomatoes, croutons or even carrots. Just a pile of plain lettuce! The burgers were good although they had the texture of meatloaf?? Maybe some filler?? The entire menu was somewhat limited and way too high priced.!! We miss the old Conklin Steamboat Cafe and will probably not be back to the new Conklin... Very disappointed. read more

Gonna upgrade Conkling to three stars for 2020. Service and speed are still not great but improving. Plus, their fish and chips are some of the best I have ever had. Delicious and large portions. Plus shooters in Rockford Bay continues to decline, so there just aren't many places to eat on the south end of the lake. I used to avoid Conkling, but now I really don't mind if my lady wants to eat here... but there is still room for improvement. Honestly, I think most restaurants on the lake know that there are few dining options, and so as long as they don't get closed by the health department, they are going to have a captive audience and it's gonna be packed... and that is very true. A little competition out here would improve everyone. To me, Conkling is a perfect example of that. It seems like it would be so easy to make this a great place, but it's just not. read more

Limited menu and expensive. 2 salads on menu, chef and Cobb. Cobb salad was sad, basically paying for romaine lettuce. Husband's salmon sandwich had dry half grilled buns with dry, plain cabbage. No sauce, mayo nothing mixed with the cabbage, worst sandwich ever. Kids said the burgers were good. They were not busy and getting water was difficult. If you don't like spiders stay far far away!! Half dozen 2" spiders when we got out of the boat. Police boat docked next to us was covered in webs and huge spiders, looked like something out of a horror movie, wish I had taken a picture! Entire dock and area covered with spiders and webs. Even if you are ok with spiders, it's plain creepy, unprofessional, and looks decrepit. Apparently, they are not allowed to spray for spiders because they are on the reservation... there are plenty of natural ways to keep spiders under control! Super sad that a place with that much potential has little going for it and owners that apparently don't have a clue how to run a restaurant in good taste! If I could give it 0 stars, I would. What the hell happened to this place?? New ownership is trash, the decor is cold and feels like you're in a dentists office. Food is expensive and shitty. They don't even blend margaritas and they sucked ass. This was my family's favorite place to eat, but we will not be going here anymore. Not to mention you're not even supporting a local family. Sad to see local places like this go down the drain because of all the people moving here. Hope other locals will boycott as well. I have heard a lot of other locals will be avoiding too. read more

We work here, and we would recommend Conkling to anyone. We are seasonal employees that have worked almost every National park imaginable, and we love it here. Every plate is well worth the pricing and comparable to everywhere else on the lake with bigger portions. Yes, staffing has been an issue, so patience is a virtue. The staff we have is amazing!!! Kylee and Malorie are so attentive to details and truly care about your experience!!! My husband has been bartending for 30+ years, Donnie's drinks are a flavor explosion that you I'll never forget!!! He caters to adults in their preferences, but also has plenty of yummy mock tails for your children, or adults that are sans alcohol. Several fun events are scheduled for Labor Day weekend, including a paint and sip with one of the best artists in the world! Raptor shows, apparel sales that equal their weight in yummy mimosas!!! When I first arrived, it was quite obvious, this place was under staffed. After waiting 15 minutes, without so much as a look from the waitresses, I had to retrieve my own drink. Finally, I was waited on, and the service was okay. The food was marginally good, with the steak and shrimp, being unbelievably small, and only two shrimp were accompanying the very small steak. For the high priced food, and $4 beer, I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone I know. Restaurants are abundant on Lake Coeur d' Alene, and I will dine at one of the others. read more

This was one of the best spots my wife and I ventured into all summer. Family owned place that was truly hopping on the Friday night we were there. Had so much fun, had to go back for Saturday night. They had a local band playing both nights that was awesome both to listen and dance to. We primarily stayed in the bar, however, was able to watch and have access to the deck/patio area. (which overlooks the marina and Lake Coeur d'Alene). The beer, drinks and food were all outstanding, and reasonably priced. Place reminded me of the Toby Keith song, "I Love This Bar". A complete mix of people of all ages and backgrounds....boaters, campers, locals, tourists, young, old, stuffy, laid-back, etc, etc. The people watching and interaction was OUTSTANDING!!! This place rocks all summer long!!! Dancing and live music on the weekends, RV camping, tent sites, gas station, 200 plus boat slips plus courtesy docks--get in early (try Thursday or early Friday) to have a great spot for your family weekend. The food, drinks and service is excellent and the prices are the best value on the lake. There is a beach and swim area for the kids and the calmest water is here on the South end of Couer D'Alene. Last year on the 3rd of July there was an awesome fireworks display and a 100 yrs Centenial celebration in August that was increadible. We love boating to Conklin marina every time we go to Harrison ID. Great spot! Last visit we noticed a terrible odor that we assumed was fish odor. Came to realize once I returned home and noticed a similar odor. Yellow Jacket trap that needed to be tossed and replaced. El Stinko! Please throw them away more often. We will be back. Always enjoy the food, location and vibe! read more
