Local smokehouse we checked out heading home from picking up a dog…read more Started with a Brat Bomb which was super yummo! Charlee had the Mozz Sticks.. which are mozz sticks. Marinara was just ok. It's a smoke house... order MEAT! They brought a mini cornbread to the table right off. It's good. I will ask for more butter for it. We ordered a meat daddy platter which says served 4-6. I would agree. We wanted lots of leftovers. We got burnt ends, pork belly burnt ends, pulled pork, sliced brisket and corned beef. The burnt ends were to die for! The pork belly--ooh my G! Got the Mac n cheese and twice baked potato, fries and it came with more cornbread and pickles. I also ordered a small side of Cole slaw. Because you have to try the slaw... Twice baked pot stuff is good. But not amazing too me. I would put in more cheese and bacon. Not whip potato so much. Or maybe they are instant. But good flavor Mac n Cheese was epic! I can imagine how good the meals with the Mac n cheese and meat are. Pickles are excellent. Crunchy/dilly Coleslaw is really good. I LOvE a vinegar based slaw and this has a mayo dressing but it's light and not drowning the cabbage. It tastes great. Got a small baked beans because I wanted to try it. No self control. They were AMAZING! Way better than the potato's. Fries were crispy and had a great crunchy outside. Yummmm We ordered all this so we would have meals the next day. Totally worth it. The meat daddy JR would have been way more appropriate. Bathrooms were immaculate and had funny decor. Service was quick and bar looked like it had a nice selection. They had carbliss! Wished I wasn't getting right back on the Hwy home

Cute little bbq spot. We were greeted by a friendly server…read morewho brought us complimentary cornbread. The cornbread is fantastic! We ordered pulled pork nachos and a half pound of burnt ends. The burnt ends were good, nice seasoning and decent bark. The nachos had to be sent back as the pork was colder than room temp on first try. Second time around they were great. The house sauces are pretty unique. Heavy on the balsamic flavors. The spiciest one was our favorite. They make ice tea in house and it was perfect. The service was very nice and prices seemed fair.

The pistachio cranberry bread was inspirational--a couple of people said they were going to try to make it. The melted chocolate truffle was amazing, as always. My very favorite was the white chocolate mousse--the dot of raspberry sauce was delightful. The mousse was light and airy but also rich and decadent--and my last bite had a white chocolate chip. That was the perfect ending to a perfect lunch. And the coffee, as always, was SOOOOO yummy. Thanks JC Wyatt for accommodating our special Christmas luncheon celebration!

I have to start this review with an apology to St. Joseph, Missouri. I love the city, it is…read moreinteresting, and we absolutely love the city. Our only critique is the lack of fine dining. Luckily, that is where the JC Wyatt House comes in. Not only is the food top rate, but the entire experience is amazing. At the JC Wyatt House, you have dinner in an intimate, small dining room inside a Victorian Mansion. Here is how it works. They are only open on Thursday and Friday, 1130am to 1230pm, for lunch and Wednesday thru Saturday, 530pm to 7pm for dinner. Reservations are required and you will choose your main entree for all of your party when you make your reservation. We went for our wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. We arrived a few minutes before our 6pm reservation and were seated. At exactly 6pm, our server, Chris, started with our choice of hors d'oeuvres. Either a potato and fresh vegetable soup, or shrimp cocktail. My wife had the shrimp, and I had the soup. Both were outstanding. For dinner, I had the lamb, and my wife had the filet mignon. Both came with potatoes, carrots and a roll. Again, both meals were outstanding. We finished with a dessert trio that was amazing. Besides the fantastic meal, the service was first class, and the ambiance was really special. This is a must visit for an amazing meal. Call today and get your reservations.
