Staff is very family friendly and they care about the children. They even encouraged me to start potty training my daughter when I thought it may have been too soon. And they were absolutely right, my daughter was SO ready! Another plus is the decent tuition which includes lunch and snacks. Breakfast is also included if you choose to add the morning care. My daughter also completed pre-k 3 in the center and learned a ton and was ahead of the others academically when she entered pre-k 4 in the public school system. From the very start we worked closely with Janet Rotter, Head-of-School, as well as an invested & passionate group of educators who understood how "Jane" was experiencing & processing school. During her three years at Studio our daughter blossomed into a genuinely curious learner, and a lively & engaged young person. The Studio School environment validates how exceptional every child is, and they partnered with the three of us (our daughter is an "only") to provide a uniquely challenging & nurturing education. Our "Jane" went from a child who hated & refused to go to school to a kid who advocates for herself, regulates herself and meets her education head-on, with open & eager arms. From personal experience this school is extremely controlling and on top of that extremely lazy with academics and neglectful when it comes to actual teaching. The teachers and especially their principal will do whatever they can to intervene in the parents and children's personal lives. On multiple occasions I've seen them force parents to make the decisions, that they want them to make, sometimes these decisions have nothing to do with their kids. If the parents don't comply they will threaten to, and go through with kicking their kid out of the school. Simply because they didn't want to do something in their personal lives which had nothing to do with the school or academics. The teachers and principal Janet Rotter on multiple occasions have intervened where they were not asked or needed.

The small class size allows for very individualized attention. He is (like many of the students) an uneven learner. He reads and does math way above grade level, but needs help with writing and expressive language (but some children have more typical learning difficulties). Each family is assigned a social worker to meet with on a regular basis, and the social workers also go into the classrooms to work on social skills through "friendship" and "games" groups. There is a "black & white" notebook that goes back and forth every day, providing a means of valuable communication between the teachers and parents. He has met some great friends here, and there is a warm parent community. We can speak freely with each other about our children's "issues" - we're all in this together! So happy we found this little gem of a school! P.S. The Parents' Association hosts a wonderful lecture series on a variety of topics, mostly concerning special needs children.
