I come here on days when I'm free and always marvel at the 1929-circa structure and architectural adornments that provide a proper, peaceful, contemplative atmosphere for worshipping God,in all his Triune magnificence. The church contains a proper Nave, Narthex, Atrium, and Ambo. The original wooden buttresses have been repainted in a more modern color, but imagine they were splendid back in the day in their natural Koa wood simplicity. My poor photos do not do it justice. A church this old is certainly in need of recurring maintenance and I think the parish does well on the limited budget. But with all old buildings, there is always much to still do to preserve. I hope and pray that this beautiful church can always remain here on Oahu and that restoration efforts continue. I enjoy the beautiful Eucharistic Adoration on first Fridays and the fact that a lovely dedicated group of parishioners stay after Mass to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet together. I fully appreciate how piously the parish keeps a period of holy silence before Mass begins. This allows one to gather thoughts, offer personal prayers and prepare to as St Paul says: "offer yourselves as a perfect sacrifice to the Lord..." The pastor and church body all emulate the love of Christ through how they care for people. Meeting outside was a concern for me at first, because it's hot in Hawai'i however, we sit under the shade and there is actually a really nice breeze that runs through the pavilion. It's pretty comfortable. They usually have water bottles to offer as well. Since the water park is their temporary meeting place, they will purchase your entry ticket and if you attend again they will purchase a season ticket. Hopefully people will stay because they love the church and not only come for the pass, but it's definitely an added blessing. There is a Vacation Bible School scheduled for June 7-11, and my 4 year old will be able to attend. It's his first VBS, most churches start with kindergarten age. We are very excited and thankful that we found this church.

So far, we've experienced many joys by doing so (only 10 more left to visit) and our most recently enchanting visit to St Rita di Cascia in Nanakuli, certainly gave us a new perspective of life on the homestead. The parishioners were extremely warm and welcoming and freely provided us with much in the way of history. This small parish of 200 families has been established here since 1931. Located immediately across the road from Nanakuli beach park, and the original 19th century railway that used to transport people, sugarcane and pineapples to market/export, this mission-style church contains many hand carved artifacts. There is even an icon "written" in the eastern style of St Rita by a North Shore artist who was inspired by a visit years ago and donated her composition to the church. I was too engrossed in the iconography to remember to take a photo (next time). St Rita is the patron saint of impossible causes and broken families, so in these modern days plagued with divorce and infidelity she serves as an appropriate intercessor. Pray for us Santa Rita! The banyan tree outside is far older than the building (which was originally moved to Nanakuli from its previous location in Ewa). The altar is situated "ad orientum" but the tabernacle sadly is not. It was evident that the church layout was modified from its original orientation sometime between 1980-2000 but the original layout that preserved the Narthex, Nave, and Sanctuary in my opinion was far more liturgically correct. Highly recommend a visit here to worship our Lord and I have no doubt the parishioners will welcome you with the same aloha we were given. Mahalo for reading my review. Pax et Bonum.

My children and I don't go to church as often as we'd like to or should! I grew up with no real…read moreties to any religious group so I've always been open in that aspect of my life. When I was younger, on occasion I would be dragged to church with my pretentious aunt. It was completely unnecessary and hypocritical. I love my aunt for trying, but really, who was she kidding? Anyway, my main point being... my early experiences with church were always boring! Faith Assembly of God is anything but. We live very close by, a couple of blocks away literally. I had never thought of coming to this church because from the outside it doesn't look like a church I wanted to visit. I first took an interest when my co-worker suggested that I go. Over the course of 3 years that I've worked with her, she would kindly suggest that I would have a visit. She was never pushy about it but always kept it as a seed that would grow within me. Finally, during the VBS activity that was hosted a couple of years ago, I made the time to attend with my kids. My initial thoughts when I walked through the door were: WOW! The work that the church members had put into this activity was really amazing. It was a superhero theme with decorations, costumes, activities and learning of course. We all were able to get to know a lot of the church members and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We never felt at any point that we were new or awkward especially for our first family church experience. From that point on we tried to make more time into visiting early some Sunday mornings for at least praise and worship, as a start. Praise and worship here is very uplifting! The younger church members are so involved in everything that goes into the programs. They pretty much lead praise and worship with their beautiful voices. The words to the songs being sung are displayed on a projector screen, made it easy for us to learn the words and sing along. My children and I have felt so much at home with this church, at this past years "camp" my children begged to be a part of it for the weekend that it was held. Never in my life did I think MY children would beg to go to church! For 3 full days my kids attended the activities and even slept over one of those nights. Although there was lots of fun and games, I know they learned a lot from their time spent with the church. I am so grateful for the friends my children and I have made at Faith Assembly of God. I will definitely continue to try and make more time to attend church because of the great experiences we have here. The Parking is very limited so either find street parking or plan to be dropped off. Also, the street is often very crowded because the church is a Pokémon gym so tread with caution!
