I'm 66 and have been going here since I was a child. Everything is great and all I need to say is, if they don't have it then it probably isn't being made anymore. Most of their chocolates, specialty candies, nuts and peanut butter are made in house. The workers change over frequently since most are school aged kids but I've never had a bad experience with any of them. Most are very kowledgeable and willing to help you out. read more

I had a bad experience today. we called ahead of time to see if they had Buckeyes which we love.As we live near Rochester,we wanted to make sure they had them before we made the trip. when we got there we explained we called and we were told that they had them but you had to bu6 them individually. we were used to buying them by the pound. we were interrupted in our conversation by some old woman in the back listening to the conversation..interrupted the conversation saying we called about availability but not the cost. very rude and none of her business. I have been going to this place since I was little and there are just some things that you can't get anywhere else. I picked up my favorite "flying saucers", which is a round wafer with tiny candy balls inside. I used to play "communion" with these little buggers way back in the day. Also picked up some of the wax bottles with flavored syrup in them. This place brings back good memories of days gone by and you just can't help wanting to go back in time to the good old days. They have a lot of homemade candy/chocolates, popcorn balls, mallo-cups (My favorite) penny candy (which is no longer a penny) and just candy that you just can't get at your local supermarket. They also have ice cream available. The shop is very clean and organized. The staff is friendly and helpful. One benefit of St Laurent Brothers is it is next to a small sitting area near the Saginaw River, which is nice to eat your candy/ice cream and take in the view. I fell in love with their peanut butter so I decided to call and place an order for more. The customer service I received was amazing! Do not buy your salted in shell peanuts from them. purchased 3 one pound bags and all soggy and stale. above all, inside lining of shells had white mold. Not the same place as the original owners. Over this Easter weekend we visited this place for the first time and fell in love. It's right by this boardwalk that overlooks the water downtown, you walk in and there's all these adorable chocolate shapes of anything and everything. There's a huge selection of candies from different brands and a huge assortment of candies, truffles, popcorn and chocolate covered anything they make! The staff is so friendly and prices are reasonable for the quality! We came in to do their 3 ft chocolate easter bunny contest and came out with pretty much the whole store haha! St. Laurent Brothers has been around forever (since 1904!) and still has homemade chocolates, like peanut butter cups, caramels, toffee crunch, nut clusters and more. They are so good! I haven't lived in Bay City for several years but I always take a trip to the "Nut House" when I go home, and my parents send me chocolates from there sometimes. They have gimmicky fad candy, too, but stick to the old fashioned good stuff made by the store. They also have great candy in bags, like Boston baked beans and mints. We were in town from Indiana and had to stop! Why wouldn't you be drawn to a place called the but house? lol They have all the back in the day candy and I spent like the whole time asking my husband "remember these... Remember those?" Our rule on vacation is always stop for fudge and we got a pound of the chocolate and peanut butter , it was amazing!!! Better than any fudge we got up on Mackinac Island! They have the most courteous employees, they have many kinds of candy to choose from and have the best chocolates and fudge. They sell peanuts and many other novelty items also. They sell the best bulk chocolate if you want to make your own chocolate covered strawberries or chocolate covered pretzels. In the summertime this is a great place to get an ice cream cone and then walk down by the river. Candy prices are a little bit higher than normal but you're paying for quality.
