I if could give no stars I would. I have one wisdom tooth and it was not hurting me. I was not in a rush for an appointment because there was no pain, but I made an appointment and March was their earliest slot. A couple of weeks later the wisdom tooth fractured, but still no pain. A few weeks after that, pain started that was quit severe and my right Jaw looked like I was storing nuts for the winter. I call OMS and I state that this is an emergency and I need an emergency appointment. The receptionist told me about my March appointment. When I said emergency, she should have got off her behind and check with one of the surgeons to see if they could fit me in, she did not. She kept on telling me I had an appointment in March. After that encounter I was in pain and very angry. The next day my sister took me to the ER and they managed to get me an emergency appointment for a St. Luke's dentist on chew street. The doctor looked in my mouth and said I don't do extractions. My question, why did they send me there if this dentist did not do the service I needed? However, this doctor gave me a new referral with STAT for the urgency and a list of all the oral surgeon in the Valley. Instead of leaving this dentist office I started calling and found a dentist that had an emergency slot for the next day. This doctor stated that this WAS an EMERGENCY and asked if I wanted to remove the tooth that day. Long story short, this dentist removed that fracture wisdom tooth and drained any infection he saw. I was giving post op instructions, but the next morning I looked I still looked like a chipmunk and the pain had me rocking and crying. My sister took me back to the hospital in Allentown (St Luke's). I was told that I needed to be transferred to the Bethlehem location. I waited in the ER over night and at least they gave me pain medication. The next morning the ER doctor told me he was getting transport arranged and I was going to be admitted directly from the ER to the Bethlehem OR. Once I got to Bethlehem I was taken directly to the Operating room. Even though the tooth was gone there was a raging infection that had been brewing for some time. This surgery seems to go well, but I was still taking pain medication, and could not open my mouth wide enough to eat. I went home the next day and I was happy to sleep in my own bed. I went out to make sure I had things I needed before the snow coming the next morning. On the way home I got a call from St. Luke's Allentown informing me to go to the Bethlehem hospital because one of the blood cultures came back positive. I was admitted and have been fighting the infection with IV antibiotics since, long story short I had Septis. As I write this I am propped up and still in the hospital.The surgeon put in two drains; one inside my mouth and a drain on the outside of my face and gave no instruction on How they are to be close, especially the drain inserted by my jaw line. This surgeon only concern was about how everything looked better and telling me that I did not have pain when I felt horrible pain; did I mentioned this was a ST. Luke's OMS surgeon! I wonder if I punched him in the groin, could I tell him what pain he was is feeling. That goes to show you that the "color of care" and racial health care disparities are alive and well. My main concern is the sepsis in my blood could have a major issue with my heart, Pacemaker, and other vital organs. With all of what I said, this could have been avoided if the OMS gatekeeper could fit me in when I originally called. If my surgery was done at a reasonable time and date, the infection would not have grown because it was first time that tooth socket would be open due the extraction and, most likely I would not had to drain, instead of days later allowed the infection to grow. I will never get the time returning to ER, hospital stay, and slow recovery at back. I am really disgusted with St. Luke's OMS and would never go to them for anything ever. (Updated 3/15/2024) With all the IV antibiotics, two weeks later I developed Clostridioides Difficile and a horrible UTI. C-Diff is highly contagious and the symptoms are diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting, headaches, dizziness, and basically feeling like you want to die. Once again all this could have been avoided. *Be warned this is going to be long but I am disappointment and want to share my story. If you want to be totally prepared for what you may be getting yourself into by going through this office for dental work, please read on* I was referred to this office by my dentist, who wanted me seen for wisdom teeth removal & extracting a broken tooth. It took me almost three months to even schedule a consult, I called multiple times and nobody answered, I left multiple voicemails and nobody called me back. Once I was lucky enough to have someone answer me, the appointment they offered was in September, I talked to them in MAY. Fast forward to the end of June & I begin having serious problems with my broken tooth. The nerve was exposed so every time I tried to eat/drink/swallow I had extreme pain shooting up my face. I called and of course nobody answered, I left a message about seeing if I could get in sooner and nobody called me back. After 2 weeks of pain and almost no eating, I finally had enough and called my dentist to try and contact them for me. They told me they'd call them to get me in for an *emergency appointment* (that part is important). Well of course they didn't answer my dentist's office and a message was left. They call me the next morning saying I was on a "cancellation list" (which was a lie) and I could be seen that day at 11:45. Great! I took the day off work for this thinking something would be done since I was told *emergency appointment*. I go in to the office, they only saw me for a consultation. I tell them my dentist's office told me Id be coming for an emergency appointment for my painful broken tooth that's hindering basic necessary things for living, I get told "they gave you misinformation and that's not right". They tell me I can schedule my surgery and offered me, again, SEPTEMBER. I was in tears and begging the girl at the window to schedule to please get me in sooner because I just could not deal with the pain any longer. Thankfully, they had an extra surgeon coming in from the hospital doing surgeries and I got a spot the next week. Awesome, all is done I get my surgery and can finally recover from 3-4 weeks of pure hell. Now since the day of my consultation my job put me on a medical leave because I am a nurse and how can you possibly do that job in such extreme pain you can't think straight. I explained this to them at the office and asked the doctor if he'd do my medical leave papers, which he said yes he had no problem with doing. He messed up my paperwork and didn't listen to a single thing I said and only did the forms for 2 shifts after surgery. I was out for 6 shifts. Thankfully my manager knew what was going on & suggested the leave or I could've gotten disciplinary action against me and compromised my position because of this. You also cannot call the office directly even after you are a patient there, all my paperwork has the same all locations number that nobody ever answers or returns your call from messages left. What if I had a serious problem after surgery? You can't get ahold of anybody. That is DANGEROUS! On a positive note, thankfully I seem to be healing well. I am 3 weeks out from my surgery, feel fantastic, and am back to my normal routine. I had minimal issues after surgery which I am also very thankful for. I wanted to wait until I was "out of the woods" to write a review because I feared retaliation or mistreatment if I did need help. The only reasons they even get 2 stars: I saw Dr. Isaac for my consultation and she was nothing but absolutely amazing. Very calming and reassuring, and put together a surgical plan that would be the most comfortable for me including taking into consideration my anxiety diagnosis and phobia of the dental work. Dr. Sharma did my surgery, besides messing up my paperwork he was excellent for the procedure and had a positive demeanor in the room beforehand, making jokes and trying to ease my nerves. Serena was who helped me during the scheduling process, she went out of her way to get me the appointment I got when she very well could've just told me too bad I had to wait. Honestly the most helpful person from this entire ordeal. It's sad this is so poorly run because the actual staff there are fantastic, but for a patient to even get seen there it's a very off putting experience. Unfortunately i have had a terrible experience. First of all the office pushed for a dental x ray that i did not need. Secondarily after explain to Dr. Isaac the situation for a second opinion she just reconmended different dentist and charged $125 for a consultation that never took place nor the intake receptionist once 1 month ago i took the appointment never explained the existence of additional fees. Asking for a supervisor, the biller was unable to get in touch amid a " possible meeting". This in american language means FRAUD. I am extremely disappointed at the tenure of the personnel from making an appointment down to get charged fees for just to hear referrals. Furthermore i found that x rays will be charged at extra cost and are not part of the consultation. This will be documented tomorrow with the Dept. Of Health state of Pennsylvania for irregularity in billings. I urge the office manager to contact me by early tomorrow in light to seek a mitigation. Trying to get an appointment is almost impossible. I am in excruciating pain and was only offered an appointment a month from now. Unfortunately due to my insurance I have no choice but to wait. I asked is there anything I can do. Only given appointment no advice on how to manage the pain in the meantime. No compassion what so ever. I did not have a good experience with Saint Luke's OMS. I had to wait over 3 months for an evaluation appointment. I was willing to go to any location to get anything sooner but the soonest appointment was over 3 months away. The day of the appointment they were late to see me and the appointment was extremely rushed, the dentist was with me for less than a minute. I was told I needed a CT scan at the Bethlehem location and the front desk scheduled me without even ask if the day or time would work for me. My CT scan was scheduled for 1:50pm but when I arrived at their office around 1:40pm they were closed for lunch until 2:00pm!!!! Why would they scheduled appointments when they are closed for lunch is beyond me. Customer service and really customer respect is lacking a lot at this place. read more

He's down to earth makes you feel like he cares and extremely talented ......but don't tell him I don't want it to give him a big head !!!!! lol. And we are blessed to have him in the Lehigh valley You can't go wrong at least this has been my experience the past two issues that I had them take care of. Good news first...I got an appointment when I expected to. Bad news...person making appointment was aware of my condition and made the appointment even though the practice does not perform the type of surgery I needed. X-ray was taken without knowing my history and that I already had a CT scan. Doctor read report and did a quick exam and proceeded to tell me what I already knew in the CT report. When and with horrible dry socket all they did was take an x-ray and put Sabe on the open hole. No pain medicine nothing sent me out with a Q-tip with Sabe on it. Ridiculous I should've stayed in California in case this happened. The dentist was young and obviously was not aware of what a dry socket is and how painful it is. I was recently at this office for a consultation on an extraction. It was my first visit to this office. My main concern was the number of people they allowed in their waiting room. The waiting room was completely full with people standing, sitting in the check out area and sitting outside the office. They were not in compliance with even the most liberal of Covid-19 requirements. I found out why, shortly after arriving. The person seated next to me had been waiting an hour past his appointment. He said this seemed to be normal procedure for this office as he had been there before. When my appointment reached 45 minutes late, I requested my paperwork be returned and I left the office. It is unsafe to have that many people in the office in the midst of a pandemic. It is also disrespectful to take an appointment and not keep it. If the patient did that, I'm sure the office would have charged them. read more

The reason I gave it a three star rating is because when I called about needing two teeth pulled because the teeth broke and my crowns came off. I was unable to get a consult appointment for two months. I had my consult mid August and was unable to get in for the surgery until mid November. I know I have to wait my turn but... I really hate walking around with a gap until next spring and my surgery heals. Till this is said and done I may change my rating, but will have to wait till next year to find out! read more

The staff was accommodating and compassionate when I called following a root canal needing a tooth extracted. They were able to remove my tooth at the time of consult. I had been in so much pain and was so appreciative. I was in and out within 1 hour and couldn't have been more pleased. They were all pleasant to work with and made me feel comfortable. They barely tell you any information they're just concerned about getting you in and out. If you're someone who has lots of anxiety around procedures this is a TERRIBLE place to go. I moved around all my calendar events to make this appointment originally, but was cancelled unilaterally without my knowledge. They offered me a November appointment to make up for early August one ! I believe St Luke's is now too big to streamline their operations efficiently or they do not have adequate number of staff. A few years ago I had a tooth extraction and implant installed by Dr. Nolf. Dr. Nolf was professional and his work was excellent. Based on this experience I returned to St. Luke's after my general dentist recommended an immediate extraction and eventual implant. My doctor forwarded my exrays and his recommendation. St. Luke's refused to give me an emergency visit. I was seen a week later by a new doctor on staff who misdiagnosed me. After my loud protest at the exit desk, I was given an appointment with another doctor in another week! The tooth was extracted and the doctor confirmed the tooth was infected and said he did not understand why I was not on antibiotics!!! Clearly St. Luke's has lowered their standards. Calling this office was a frustrating experience. While most of us know that your general doctors/dentists refer you to specialists. What I have learned by contacting this specialist they will not under any circumstances refer you to a general dentist. I (this is D) know that I require specialized dental care in addition to general dental work. This is one of the few oral surgery centers in the area and as R and I are new to the area, I wanted to find competent care. The call to this office was utterly frustrating. The repeatedly terse refusal to offer any suggestions for initiating care other than "search the internet/phone book" and check with your "insurance company" were worthless. They also stated that there were no professional organizations that dentists/oral surgeons belong to that might be able to guide my search. This is a point blank false statement as a follow-up search by me turned up no less than 25 such organizations. Centers like this that offer the highest levels of dental care, sometimes in the 10's of thousands of dollars and to not be able to offer basic customer care is rediculous (I know they don't want to play favorites but crap don't throw me under the bus I am paying the farking bill) If I end up actually experiencing the professional services of this center I will of course update the review to take that into account. Saw doctor outside for lunch a few minutes before 2 (obviously Not in emergency surgery). Sat in treatment room for 25 minutes before doctor came in. First, the positive. For the most part the staff is friendly and polite. The location is convenient and the office is relatively clean. As for the negative, the prices charged are astronomical. I called 7 other providers in the area and found them to be far less costly for the same dental implant. Also unlike most providers, this practice offers no payment plans. They claim that they are competitive, and maybe they are, I'm just not sure with who. They also say their pricing is what it is due to market conditions. I really appreciated that as I watched staff members roll up in Range Rovers, Audis, Mercedes Benz's and other high end vehicles. Someone has to pay for their lifestyle. So why did I come here based on this review? My wife liked and trusted the doctor, and a smart husband does what it takes to keep his wife happy. Happy wife, happy life, even if it is financially painful. If this was for me, no way would I come here. I was referred for an emergency extraction a half hour to closing time. Everyone involved in getting that tooth out from start to finish was very professional, calm, didn't seem upset about having to do an extraction so close to closing. I don't remember the receptionists name but she was very, very nice. I was treated by Dr. Rachiele and Miranda. Miranda was very helpful and answered all of my questions that she could, and Dr. Rachiele was very comforting and professional. All in all, if I had to get a tooth out again, I would definitely come back here. The facility is very clean, comforting and easy to find. Even with no insurance they treated me like a human being. As a person with a high level of anxiety regarding everything to do with dentists, I came into a calm atmosphere that was drawn out through the procedure and followed me out the door. They called in a pain med they were informed caused severe allergic reaction, did not give me enough novocain to last even an hour, and refused to rectify the error despite multiple calls while the office was still open. Made multiple calls to the oncall after the office closed, and never received a call back. My trigeminal neuralgia has now been jump-started and I am in so much pain that I can't stand it. I was referred by my dentist who I trust very much. I should have known by the attitude of the dental hygienist from the first meeting when she took my x-rays and such that I should have picked another oral surgeon. She was rude and short. She gave me attitude with answers to my questions. I have never had surgery and I have never gone through an experience like this. The oral surgeon came in and showed me my x-rays and said that this would be an easy procedure. He said that it would take about 30 minutes and that everything should go well and then dismissed himself. (this consultation was about five minutes long.) I got a "treatment" plan -- it consisted of no food or water 24 hrs before -- there will be a 50 dollar cancelation fee -- and my total. Some treatment plan. When the day of the surgery came around, the same rude dental hygienist took me back and a different oral surgeon came in. He put the IV on me and the mask on my nose. He did the procedure -- by the time I woke up, he was not there -- just the dental hygienist staring at me waiting for me to wake up. She gave my boyfriend a packet of gauze and then told me to "relax" when I got home. I got no direction of when the stitches will start to dissolve, what the expect when I got home, when to take medication, nothing. I know its a routine procedure but some time and commitment would have been nice. In the event that you are in the same boat as me, looking up wisdom teeth procedure on Wikihow really helps. I went to go get my top wisdom teeth out, and it was an ultimate failure. First of all, I was told not to DRINK or EAT 8 hours in advance. I listened unfortunately on both parts but I should have drank water anyway. I was dehydrated and they couldn't find good veins. I ended up wailing like a 2 year old in the chair for gosh knows how many minutes. All because I kept getting poked OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. If it doesn't work the first 2 or 3 times, maybe you should stop. I felt unsafe, anxious, sick to my stomach. My hands are still hurting right now from being poked. Now they are saying I can reschedule and drink more water in advance. Why couldn't I do this before? Yep, totally NOT going to happen. I would like to also mention I have said time and time again don't do it again but i got a response saying "we need to" I understand that, but at the same time when a patient is wailing like a 2 year old and highly uncomfortable there is definitely an issue. It should also be mandatory that a patient is informed not to get bloodwork too early in advance of the oral surgery. I was not, and I also completely wasted my time. read more

This was my second time having wisdom teeth removed ( the first time was my bottom ones in the army) needles to say I was VERY nerve racked not to mention this time I was being put to sleep. On the morning of my appointment I could not even sit in the waiting room because of the nerves, the girls that checked me in came out into the waiting room and talked to me for a while to help calm me down. After I was taken back and was getting set up Dr. Lader walked in and despite all my anxiety he calmly assured me that they would take great care of me and that everything would be okay ( It definitely helps that he's good looking too!) . Next thing I know I am awake again (with a more chubby face) but in almost no pain! The healing process was the best out of my two times getting my wisdom teeth removed, and I could not be happier with the staff and Dr. Lader, it's a shame I can't just use them for my regular dentist appointments from now on. For years I have put off having my last 2 wisdom teeth pulled for fear of pain both during procedure and aftercare. I finally bit the bullet and decided to make my appt. at this office. What a relief! From the second I walked in I was treated like I mattered and not just another $ sign. They took me in right away for xrays and then back to the room for the procedure. Dr. Geller was the surgeon who preformed the surgery. He did an excellent job at calming my nerves. It felt like I had just closed my eyes and I opened them again and the procedure was over. The whole staff was very attentive when I woke up making sure I was ok and not in any pain. Aftercare was easy and Dr. Geller was able to answer any and all questions I had in the week or so after surgery. I have no complaints about this office what so ever. Thinking this was a good sign I contacted their office (approx. two weeks ago), not only were they extremely rude and unhelpful (refusing to provide any idea of monetary fees for uninsured, etc.) .
