The staff was very nice, but Dr. Parikh was extremely rude and talked down to me when I was there. We were at the office in Lehighton, PA and will never go back there again! Had 2 teeth that needed to be extracted asap and could not get an appointment for over a month and these extractions were badly needed (as per my family dentist and the office that we eventually went to). read more

Greetings, I'm definitely not a guy who puts up reviews, Dr. Parikh did my 2 extractions...1 wisdom tooth that broke in half and a root canal that also broke all in the same week. I had to have both of them drilled out on the same day...I was dreading this procedure but I had no choice as the pain was throbbing... When I had the procedure done I woke and I had no pain but i was still under the anesthesia...The real test was that night.. Practically No pain! I took Advil 2 times still cant believe I skated through..I hope I never see him again, lol, but the reason I wrote this is because I almost backed out from going to Valley after reading some negative reviews...Listen, I'm a business owner and deal with clients getting upset etc but I'm so glad I followed my gut! again he was great, the staff was great! So overall I'd still say EFFFFFF Lehigh valley oral surgery, at least the Bethlehem office! The Allentown office has been somewhat better but has also had issues. The doctor I had for my treatments has been nice and has done a good job. HOWEVER, there is office incompetence that is literally unacceptable and has ruined the whole experience. They caused trouble in the past as well, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well, they screwed up yet again. I was absolutely LIVID today when I showed up in Bethlehem for my 9:30 surgery today at 9:00 (early!!!) and was told I was "late" and I should have been there at 8:30. Are you kidding me? I have MULTIPLE emails stating my appt is 9:30 AND an appt card marked 9:30! It's stressful enough having surgery, but having the office staff somehow screw up the appt times on multiple occasions and somehow act like it's MY fault or I'm wrong, is unacceptable. As you can see, I was not wrong! I am extremely type A and went to a lot of trouble to get everything arranged for this surgery. I would NEVER be late for a surgical appt! I went in for a very simple extraction over a year and a half ago. After looking at my dental plan, they told me my estimated part would be $150, which I paid them upfront. The tooth extraction went well and I thought we were done. A full year and a half later, I get another $565.17 bill from Valley Oral Surgery. The insurance company, who said my plan pays 80% of extractions and that general anesthesia and xrays are also covered at 80% then told me that I really do need to pay the $565.17 bill because they (the insurance co.) only paid $107.12. Apparently, in the fine print, you have to have 4 teeth pulled in order for any extraction to be covered. Also, this type of anesthesia is not covered and it cost $420. and the xray I got was too frequent. The doctor ordered all of this and the estimate was given, which was a full $565.17 off!!! They say that preauthorization takes a month and when you are in pain, that's simply not going to cut it. I will definitely try another oral surgeon next time, this office doesn't know what they are doing! I'm also going to look into a better dental plan, but this one is already the "Elite Plus." This is the fourth time using Valley Oral Surgery over the years and on each occasion I have had a pleasant experience. Their office was recommended to me by my dentist of 30yrs. The office staff is friendly, courteous and professional. I had a clear explanation of out of pocket expenses prior to extraction which was greatly appreciated. Today after having 2 molars extracted in the Allentown office for the first time ever in my 53yrs of seeing any doctor, the oral surgeon himself phoned me to inquire if I was doing well or had any needs. As a nurse I am also aware of how rare an occurrence this is. Many times bedside manner is lacking as the schedules of the doctors are so full and this small personal touch showed true concern for the welfare of the patient. The small touches are important and it was genuinely appreciated. I seldom leave reviews however in this instance I do believe it was warranted most especially with all of the stress the pandemic is placing on healthcare providers. Kudos to Valley Oral Surgery for having attentive, competent and compassionate doctors and staff. Nice touch Dr. Parikh, don't lose that it is what makes the difference. read more

When is a bill not a bill? When is a "final insurance determination" not a really "final insurance determination"? Enjoy not getting clear answers and having people give you the run around or blow you off? If any of that sounds like fun, read on for all the above and more. I'll keep the doctor's name private that we dealt with as he is the only one here who sees children but I'm not a big fan of his especially since when he removed my wisdom teeth a few years ago he yelled at me/belittled me in the office in front of several people that I had wasted his time/he didn't understand what I was doing on his schedule after I called a few days before my follow up visit to inquire if the pain I was still feeling was normal and the staff member I spoke with insisted that I come in that same day yet in the end all I got was bitched at by the doc. The billing practices here are shady and there is no accountability/they try their best to make sure that nothing is put in writing in an itemized way for you to actually see. At a recent initial consultation for my daughter they went through all of the charges that would be submitted to the insurance company and I was told that I would get a copy of everything at the time of the procedure. About a week before the procedure a staff member called with the amount I would have to pay the day of the procedure per the final determination from the insurance company (their words on the insurance company part, not mine). Then a second time two days before the procedure a different staff member called to remind me of the appointment and about the same amount that would be due on the day of the procedure. On the day of the procedure, the first thing they tell me is that I now owe almost an additional hundred dollars past what I was told twice. I asked for a breakdown of the charges + what the insurance specifically did/did not cover and the woman at the counter had no idea how this happened except to say that she guessed my daughter was out of insurance money for the year, which if that's the case then how did things change from the last two phone calls which were supposedly final numbers? On a sidebar, I never got the breakdown of the charges as she did her best to deflect my questions and of course you really can't challenge any of this when the procedure is scheduled to start in a few minutes and you're reminded that nothing will start until they are paid in full. Speaking of bill padding, I'm guessing that the office also practices this regarding X-Rays. When I called to set up the initial consultation visit the person I spoke with said to make sure that the primary dentist sent over a copy of their X-Rays so that this office wouldn't have to do another set. I called the dentist's office twice to confirm that the X-Rays were sent and each time they said yes yet of course the day of the initial consultation I'm told that they had to do their own X-Ray anyway. Why? They claim it was never sent to them which goes against what the dentist's office told me twice. * I also got what I guess is a bill in the mail from them after the procedure was completed which clearly shows even more money being due ($200 + dollars past the second amount I was told which was a hundred dollars past the first amount I was told twice.) I called the office to speak to someone in the billing department who continued the lack of clear answers only offering hollow apologies while blaming my insurance provider as to why things have played out the way they have and I finished the call with her just as confused and frustrated as when I began. They asked for X-Rays and I confirmed twice that they were sent to their office. Who's fault is that when they insist upon doing their own anyway? Apparently mine as now I'm paying for it both monetarily and via my kid having had to get another X-Ray that was likely not necessary as the one from the referring orthodontist was not even a few months old. I'm told one amount a week prior to the procedure is the "final amount due" to have that confirmed two days prior to the procedure only to have the amount be increased the day of with no explanation as to why the "final amount" was clearly not the "final amount" which doesn't even begin explain the new bill that came in the mail which shows even more money due which I may or may not actually owe since Lori in billing claims they are waiting on a final determination from the insurance company yet the day of the procedure I was told that my daughter was out of insurance money for the year which if that's the case do I even owe more money or not and what are they waiting for??? Confused? I know I am. From a technical angle I can't fault anything at Valley Oral as both procedures that I have been a part of have in the end have been more or less flawless. But the billing side is vague/shady/non-transparent at best and the customer service is really lacking. read more

I have had two teeth pulled here , each painlessly and seamlessly. I have to be put under. All are so professional and confidence inspiring and reassuring. If I could give 0 stars I would. This office staff is unprofessional and rude!!! Drove from Philly twice because they messed up my first appointment for SURGERY. I rearranged my work schedule for my new appointment a few months later to be greeted by the WORST receptionist. Asked them a simple question and they proceeded to talk to me like I was stupid. This then escalated into her bringing over a manager who laughed in my face and gave even more attitude then the receptionist. Then they brought me into a private office for "privacy". I called my mother being a 21 year old girl because I was being called into an office and treated like a high schooler getting in trouble right before an important surgery over literally nothing. When I finally had enough of the way they were speaking and treating me and my mom I said, "I no longer wanted to get my surgery done at this office because they were causing me to get upset." The two managers then refused to let me speak to my doctor and told me to leave the building immediately for me causing a scene when all I had asked was a simple question in the first place. The receptionist and managers obviously hate their pathetic lives that they have to act like high schoolers themselves and make younger girls cry to make themselves feel better. Terrible and disrespectful staff. I can not believe any respected surgeon would have any staff treat a paying patient like that. read more

I can see why their rating is low compared to others in LV, had a $4,000 implant put in, had to re do it, and charged me half, and then a year later they had to take it out!!, no explanation, didnt know what happened???Very vague, i should have sued but ya know u sign a waiver, and another patient that was in the room next to me was being told the same thing she had to have hers taken out as well!! They made the money took out the implant and that was it, loss to me gain to them not recommended at all!!!!! read more

I was just here yesterday to have my final wisdom teeth removed. This office is fantastic. From the receptionist greeting you by name, the surgery assistants, to Dr. Grim to the scheduler. Do not pay anything upfront! They will quote you an amount, charge you credit card and when the insurance statement comes in the mail you will see they over charged. I called the office on several occasions and got the same run around of "I don't see an overpayment on your account". I ask how my payment was allocated for the lines of service and where they used the overpayment of $100+ that I paid, and was told again "I'm saying there is no refund on the account". I confirmed the charges with my insurance company who contacted their office to verify the overpayment, but still they will not refund. Shady billing practice at the least, insurance fraud at most. I have turned everything over to the insurance fraud department to see if I can get my refund. Again, do not pay upfront, make them bill as insurance states the patient responsibility is. Clearly this does not extend to not misleading patients regarding what their 'support' staff will say and do. As another reviewer says 'The billing practices here are shady...'. Ok, I just got my wisdom teeth pulled this past friday at valley oral surgery at the lehighton location. The girls at the front desk were nice. They were friendly, knowledgeable and extremely professional and courteous. The one girls name is January I'm not sure about the other young lady, I don't recall her name. But when it was my turn to go back I was greeted by a tech. of some kind, she was a heavier set woman with black hair, she was my nightmare. I was very relaxed before surgery up until I went back with her. I was making jokes with her trying to lighten the mood (which is what she should have been doing by the way) and she was very stand off ish and firm. She was not warm and certainly not friendly. I guess it just isn't in her nature. I also told her I forgot to mention a certain medication I take and how I was afraid it might interfere with the anesthesia she said ok I'll check. She did not, she didn't leave the room and they immediately administered the anesthesia. I can't really speak on Dr. Parihk, he removed my four impacted teeth but today is day 5 since the surgery and I'm still extremely swollen. I also have purple bruising under my chin which is from them sticking their thumbs and fingers into it trying to keep my head up. I was told by a hygienist that I work with that they aren't even supposed to be touching there, they are supposed to be touching the chin bone instead to PREVENT further bruising. I honestly don't even feel comfortable going back there for my 2 week post operation appointment. Anyway, when I got to the room they just told me to get in the chair, they were moving really fast and they didn't even tell me what was going on step by step. They pricked my hand and a few moments later I was asleep. I woke up with Dr. Parihk still pulling my teeth out. I was horrified..I started hyperventilating and crying. I was told numerous times there was nothing they could do for me and to just calm down. I felt extremely rushed from the moment I sat in the chair, to the moment I woke up scared out of my mind while also being pushed out so they could bring the next person in. It's sad to say but unless Dr. Parikh gets new staff, I will not be referring people to him. read more

I did a wisdom teeth extraction in bethlehem office with Dr. CERNANSKY a week ago. It was much easier than I thought. I was afraid of dental surgery always. But I think the surgery was very smooth and painless. I didn't taken any painkiller and the bleeding stopped after one day. I am also grateful that I was able to make an appointment for the very same day to check on my teeth and had surgery one week after. St Luke takes a few weeks to get an appointment. read more

Great docs but be very very careful about how and when they bill insurance. The billing dept are the queens of double talk. Yea, we billed it, it's in backlog, they don't accept this code, ooops, must have gotten lost somewhere, OK, we'll bill it again. Scammers comes to mind because you'll be out the cash (that you had to pay upfront) if they don't bill insurance. The reason I gave them a 2 was because I liked the dentist. The staff talked and treated me like I was an idiot. After my consultation with the surgeon, the receptionist walked in like 3 minutes later. She talked about my insurance and gave me a script for antibiotics and pain meds. I told her I didn't want to take the vicoden and prefer ibuprofen, she looked at me like I was an idiot and told me that the doctor just went into surgery and would have to wait until my appt to ask for something else. No big deal I don't need a script for ibuprofen. When we walked out of the consultation room, he was standing outside talking and laughing with someone... sure didnt look like he was in surgery... then when I was setting up my surgery I wanted to be in the Cedar crest office because not only was it close to home, it is in the same business Park I work in. I also needed an early morning appt because of work. She wanted to send me to Bethlehem and I said no because it's way out of the way so she thought it would be better to send me to Lehighton... hmm... umm.... no. When she found an early afternoon appt for me in Allentown, I expressed how it would be hard because of work. She told me I had to call off... Wasn't going to happen. Then when I went to check out, I know the receptionist saw me. She looked up at me. I was standing there waiting patiently to be checked out and someone comes from the back and tells her, hey there is someone standing there. She said I saw her but I didn't know what she was doing.. I guess she didn't think I could hear her through the thin glass. Being that she knew i was standing in the back and was told to go to her to check out... its an open space in the back and she and the girl making my appointment weren't sitting far from eachother..... She opened the glass and coldly said can i help you?
