My daughter had an arthrogram today, which involves an injection with lidocaine and then another injection with the dye liquid. Jackie (the injector) and her x-ray assistant were both absolutely amazing with her. They went above and beyond to make my daughter comfortable by chatting with her about her and explaining everything. My daughter to scared and crying but they continued to console her and used techniques to make her less anxious. I highly recommend this staff for any kids or even adults needing this treatment. worst hospital stay ever was in the hospital for 7 days and had a sponge bath and brushed my teeth first day and never again. changed my bedding and gown first day never again in the 7 days terrible response time from staff would ring for help they'd answer in 10-25 minutes then come into help an hour later. the cologne and perfume that was worn by staff was disgusting and should not be allowed, would make you throw up. you could taste it and smell it for hours. They miraculously saved my son's life after his devastating accident in 2012, so HE had a very good experience there. But this is about my own experience, as his concerned mother in Upstate, NY, who was treated like yesterday's garbage. My son was honored at their annual Night of Heroes in 2013 , BUT I was never given an invitation nor notified of it before hand! I would have attended in a heartbeat. This was after being treated like an unwelcome stranger at my son's bedside in the ICU right after his accident!!! This was because my ex husband told the ICU staff to "not talk to me" and make sure "I don't talk to my son"!!! My ex husband completely slandered me to the hospital staff before I even got there and he ALSO never informed me of his accident in the first place which legally he was supposed to do!!! One of the nurses even "reported " on me to my ex that "I was talking to and praying with my son". Also I was told that ONLY immediate family members were allowed in his room in the ICU, BUT my ex's "girlfriend" at the time (a nurse herself who long ago dumped him) stormed into my son's room when I was sitting there and actually had the gall to give me the dirtiest look imaginable! Stroudsburg, PA 18301 today and I would like to recognize a phlebotomist named "Raven" as an Outstanding Employee. She was very professional, personable, asked all the needed questions prior and great at her job. When she drew blood, I didn't even know the needle was in my arm. She's a KEEPER...for sure!!! 5/26/21 I did not choose St Luke's, it chose me. I was transferred here via ambulance from a smaller St Lukes hospital. My transport EMS team, Jeff & Mike were amazing and incredible. I was going through a terrifying time and they kindly reassured me that all would be ok. I was very impressed with the staff, I liked all of my nurse assistants, nurses, dr's, and the medical team. They consoled me as I wept in fear. I really appreciated that. I also appreciated their light hearted conversation to make a very discouraging/perilous situation more manageable. The staff is very compassionate and excellent in my experience. The food was terrific! I must say!! The dietary staff was pleasant and that was a cheer up. I'm not thrilled with the location of the hospital and the distance to my house. It's very congested and God help you if you need to get here in rush hour. Things that need to be improved: The blinds on my windows were broken in my hospital room, the bathroom could have been cleaner when I arrived, & the hospital beds were dysfunctional. The first bed I was in the foot adjustment part didn't work. Ok I can live with that, when the back adjustment part failed to raise and lower I asked the staff to switch out my bed. They did and the bed they gave me also started to lock up. In order to change the adjustment I had to get up out of bed every time and press two buttons to "unlock" the mechanism to adjust the back angle. It's hard enough to find a sleeping position when you're hooked up to pieces of equipment, with cords in both arms, IV's etc. . . . Then having to screw around trying to adjust the bed is ridiculous. Not every patient is as mobile as I am. The medical staff and care -5 stars! The facility itself could use many improvements. I do like their app and it's easy to make follow up appointments, which I now have a multitude to go to. read more

Today is the third day of trying to get a St Luke's doctor, Raj Katara to send a perscription to a medical supplies company. The St Luke's system seems designed more to shield miscreants than provide actual help in resolving the problem. The doctor's office cannot be reached directly. The system person who answers the phone isn't in a position to help but will forward the call to one of the nurses. It turns out they are at some location other than the doctor's office. They can't contact the doctor's office directly either. This whole system is completely disfunctional. read more

My 70-year-old husband had his 90-year-old father rushed to the hospital because he had signs of a stroke it took 5 hours for them to give him a CAT scan to see if it was a stroke , they did blood tests . I think the Healthcare network should look at the recent (within the past year) reviews and compare them to the reviews from more than a year ago. Whatever has happened in the past year isn't working out well. The phone system is awful - you to wait forever for someone to answer the phone just to tell you how much longer you are going to have to wait for an appointment. I called for an appointment for myself to see a dermatologist and was told it would be over a year before I can get in. My concern is skin cancer and I'm not waiting for more than a year. I called to schedule an appointment for my mother with neurology. Her PCM referred her to Neurology. However, the young woman who answered the phone said my mother had to see the senior care folks who are not neurologists. I said "so, you are saying my mother cannot see a neurologist?"!she said "yes, I am." I'm certainly glad the person with a high school diploma is adjusting the doctor's orders!!! I called to schedule with the senior care folks and she can get in to be seen in February of next year. I'm switching my entire family over to Penn. it's a shame because until about 8or 9 months ago, everything with Saint Luke's seemed pretty good. Not sure what has happened with their phones and access (in terms of time to be seen), but they are losing us as patients and it looks like they are losing others as well. read more

We've been at Luke's customers for a number of years and unfortunately have had MANY trips to ER and inpatient stays due to some chronic medical conditions. We've also been to facilities from LVHN to Penn, to Temple, the Mayo Clinic, and a few others in between. Just establishing that we are unfortunately kinda experienced in this category and have a deep benchmark, not one "I had to wait in the ER too long boo hoo!"story. We've recently had some bad experiences at SLUHN Anderson campus and decided when told we needed to go to the ED, we decided to try Bethlehem instead. What a difference! The ER wait was reasonable on a Tuesday night at 2 hrs. Only downside was the constant whining from others about waiting but whatever. Once in, the staff was amazing. Listened to my wife's issues, was empathetic, and acted genuinely interested in helping her instead of discharging her with profound instructions to "follow up with your doctor ". She ended up being admitted and spent a week upstairs. Again the nurses and doctors were all fantastic. Caring and thorough, and actually interested in helping. Completely unlike our (many MANY) visits to the Anderson campus, to which we will never return. Thank you! read more

All the staff I ran into very helpful and nice. Parking is easy and free. Large campus, but signs easily lead you where you need to go. There is a gift store and coffee kiosk in the lobby. You will also find a great cafeteria run by Metz Culinary inside. Plenty of stations to choose from and made to order sushi. Choose from a grill, deli, hot line, and salad bar as well. read more

Now, more than 6 months after treatments and visits, I am combing through old claims and EOBs in order to suffice my HSA provider. Every damn time I try to schedule any test lately through them they are always over a month out, even for "stat" when you are in excruciating pain with a probable tear! Not sure who in the world is willing to wait almost 2 months (current appointment they offered) when there are literally thousands of doctors and testing facilities out there....with Lehigh Valley network literally across the street. St Luke's - I Got hurt a month ago. Just got in to see specialist and the mri is now scheduled for a potential tear in mid July. Really? This is acceptable to you? 3 months just to get it imaged (no treatment mind you) this is just to diagnose. If I could give zero stars to your ability to manage your workload distribution, standard agenda and employee scheduling etc I would. Unacceptable. read more

I had an appt. @ St. Lukes weight management after having waited 3 months to be able to go to the appt. once it was scheduled in February. Quite a long wait time for an appt. in my opinion. Finally, the 1st week of May I went to my appt. only to be treated with a bit of a cold shoulder, given little information, and outside of medications and surgery options. was faced with 3 treatment options in which only 1 (option A) were free which was quite literally dieting at home with no supports or resources just like I had been doing all along prior to my appt.! The other two options (options B & C) required $120 or $200+, paid bi-weekly for an undefined period of time which could add up rather quickly. Frustrated, my only solace was found in the hopes of being prescribed a medication for weight loss which required a prior-authorization from my insurance. I have had other of these instances with prior-authorizations throughout the last 10 years or so, never having to wait more then a week for the medication to be in my hands. To date, it has been 7 weeks since my appt. that day, and have been told several times that although my insurance approves or denies these authorizations within 24 hours, St. Lukes dedicated prior authorization team takes seemingly months to get the simple 10 minute job accomplished. I have called and been told 3 times that my case would be given priority only to find out that whomever I spoke with lied to appease me and I cannot get a straight answer from anyone at st Luke's as to why I'm being sidelined. A truly poor experience. Also, after many independently run medical facilities were forced into transitioning to St. Lukes, I have noticed a decline in satisfaction among patients in the area. Phone systems that used to easily connect to a receptionist are now bogged down with #'s to press for options that lead to having to listen to more prompts with #'s to press that lead to more of the same before you can reach a person to handle your call. Policies and procedures all dictated by St. Lukes mean more waiting, more nonsense, less satisfaction. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. St. Lukes new central scheduling is ridiculous! I waited 21 minutes to schedule an appoint with my doctor whom I have been a patient with for over 5 years. They asked me multiple times if I needed a referral (nope!), who my doctor was (again 4-5 times) to which I finally asked "isn't this the doctors office" which she said it was, but it clearly wasn't as they didn't even know who I had seen in my previous visits. This has now happened to me 3 times - over 10 minutes to schedule a follow-up appt. But this time, for Neurology, it was over 20 minutes and I finally hung up. Emergency beds in between patients. Dirty!! High peek during Covid. I was admitted and they put me in a room with a another patient. Sharing bathroom. I had to wipe the toilet seat with my antibacterial Wipes. The patient next to me didn't know that I was still in the room. She thought I was discharged. Heard her talking to her family about my conditions. HIPPA Privacy! They don't practice such thing. Everything that my doctor said to me she told the person whom she was on the phone with. Never Again!! I will not set a foot in that hospital. The nurses was awesome and the PAC. I rather go to Anderson Campus. I week ago I was admitted for a week and no one changed my bedding nor offer to help me wash up after surgery. read more

Ever since St.Lukes took over a few of my doc's private offices, it's impossible to talk to a human being on the phone. I hardly get through to anyone, always on hold with the automated answering service and for the simplest things. Request prescriptions, change appointments, etc...I need private practices to COME BACK. I truly hate it, there's nothing easy about it anymore and I have 0 relationship with my docs since they keep changing them....HATE IT. Please bring back smaller offices with some human feel to it. read more

I was terrified after reading previous scathing reviews of this hospital with my Dad scheduled for surgery there. One even said they wouldn't even bring their dog there! But guess what? We had a GREAT experience, from check in to discharge. Wonderful nursing staff on P8, communicative doctors and anesthesia team. Dad loved the menu in his room. Even the freaking vending machines had great, up to date snacks and drinks. So grateful for your compassionate care of my Dad. Our nurse even walked us down to the car on Dad's discharge day. This past weekend, dear friends of ours gave birth to their son. However, instead of enjoying this new life, their newborn son was taken from them because one of her prescribed medications, gave a false positive for amphetamines. Maybe, just maybe if the Hospital did their due diligence, they wouldn't have caused our friends so much pain. Clearly, there needs to be more training with the staff and née policies out in place. My husband visited the ER back in 2017 for extreme pain which we believed to be a tick bite, they ran numerous test and couldn't find anything wrong, said they would call worth the Lyme test results ama sent us home. Few days later they called worth positive Lyme results and told us that his type of Lyme was going to cause pain, muscle pain, tiredness ect. With flareups Basically for the rest of his life and there's nothing that can be done. So whenever my husband had potassium and exhausting we just assumed it was Lyme.. fast forward to 2021 hubby had extreme leg, hip pain and excruciating headaches and a soft spot in his skull so we went to St. Luke's Er monroe.. after testing they informed us that he has stage 4 metastatic lung cancer... fast forward 2 weeks after treatment we are called in to be told that unfortunately he had lung cancer in 2017 when he went to the ER and they missed it in his scans and they were very sorry... really? In 4 years you didn't realize he had cancer and now he's terminal!!! They could have saved him with a simple surgery and low chemo back then and now he's terminal.. Please check your records, check your scan results from prior years, if there are nodules listed and you weren't told get them checked and call a lawyer.. these Doctors don't care, there is zero remorse for what they've done to my husband and our family. They've destroyed our lives!! And Pocono Medical(lvhn) missed it too when he was there 3 weeks earlier.. check your records bc they obviously don't!!!! read more

They didn't give a full check up even though my body hurts all over. I told them I think I have allergies and they went with it. They didn't check my eyes,ears, or any basic check up. And they gave me over the counter medication that I am already taking and doesn't work and this was told to them. read more

Labor and delivery. Just had a baby in the Bethlehem Campus L&D. The staff, Doctors and everything else was going great until after my baby was born. Just a few hours old and no immune system my wife and new born baby were moved to the pediatric floor filled with sick children. You would think such a big health network would have better accommodations than moving a newborn baby and postpartum mother from a state of the art unit equipped for what they were there for with specialty doctors and nurses to a floor that hasn't been updated since at least the early 90's. If I were to have any other children I would Go to Lehigh valley hospital. I have 8 nieces and nephews that have been born there without any issues like this. The only reason we pick St Luke's is because sadly enough I am an employee. read more

Stay away from this hospital unless you have no choice as most college students in the area have no choice! My son was very sick with fever chills chest pain dehydration and many other symptoms. They discharged him and sent him back to his dorm with no medication and no diagnosis other than a bad cold. They totally missed that he had pneumonia! How is that possible? They even had a chest X-ray. Thank goodness there was a doctor the following day who caught the mistake but if not, this could have been even more serious. They then just called in prescriptions and didn't provide any follow up instructions. Be very careful when seeking treatment here. read more
