Unfortunately my visit was cut short because the restrooms were locked (early March on a Sunday afternoon). I was able to use the restroom at the Schnucks across the street. There's a "lake' with a fountain that is peaceful and there are plenty of spots to park and sit it take a walk and rejuvenate yourself. But the crown jewel is the YMCA right inside the park. It has exercise machines, 2 aquatic centers (the outdoor one is quite spectacular in the summertime), but the best is that I'd had comfortable places to lounge, work on your laptop, get free coffees and tea (like Parisian Blackberry) or hang out with people in the Senior Hub.

The park sits close to a neighborhood and I was just admiring the homes as I made my way around the track. I noticed they had places for horseshoe and other park activities, but things seem to be closed off right now due to COVID. People were staying distanced from one another and it was easy to walk around people if I needed to. This is a great park and I can't wait to visit it again on the next nice day we get in STL.

A basketball court is next to some open fields and there is also a lovely pond you can walk around. They light up the big fir tree next to the pond at Christmas and in the summer there is art in the park! Overall, an awesome spot.

Summer of 2025, every Thursday there is a market/vendor fair. They have been doing this the last 3 years that I have lived in the area, I hope to catch it soon this year. It's 10 miles long and stretches from Orlando's in south county to I-44 in Kirkwood. I ran a half marathon a couple of years ago, and did a lot of my training runs here. Here's what I really liked about it: - the miles are marked; made it super simple to keep track of where I was - very little hills, great for endurance training! - scenery was amazing, I was training in the fall time. My favorite spot was the Gravois Road to Pardee Road. You get to see Grants Farm and the Clydesdales. It was beautiful with the changing leaves. - I felt super safe. - if you go early-ish in the morning, it isn't packed. - they've got a great layout of the trail online, section by section. It explains points of interest, Peking, facilities, and pictures. It's a great opportunity to get outside!

Go here to play frisbee, not to take in a nice long run. They have two pavilions you can rent, which is nice for family picnics and get togethers. All in all, nothing special, just a park. It's well maintained and there's a ton of grass, which is great for nice days and laying around. Otherwise, parks like this are a dime a dozen. Not that we should get rid of them. Keep the parks, make more of them in fact. If every neighborhood had little parks like this, the world would be a much nicer place.

It is so comparative to Central Park in Manhattan in terms of grandeur and liveliness. I don't know if you could walk Forest Park in a day and feel like you saw everything because it winds around and there are smaller trailers that pop in and out of nowhere. Surprisingly, I do not think the city takes care of the park, but an established group called Forest Park Forever, whose history starts back in the 60s, or 80s? They are a group of volunteers who tend to the park - every part of it, in every season, and really beautify it! There is security on patrol often enough so it's not too isolating and scary. There are parking lots closer to the main attractions. There is also street parking here, which adds to it being active but a park you can drive through, bike, and walk.
