An underfunded inner city Milwaukee Public Schools elementary and high school where almost all students qualify for federal funded lunches, if you want to feel like a little volunteering makes a difference this is a good choice. I admire the people who work here, it's a hard largely unappreciated job to be a teacher in general, but the staff and support workers here are really remarkable. I know I couldn't do it. The children are cute and clearly disadvantaged, it absolutely feels good to come in and help out. There are a variety of things you can do, you can read to children, you can help them with their inventory problem, you can do office support work, as examples. The building was a women's hospital in days gone by and the renovation has been sporadic, incomplete and I am pretty certain the building is haunted. I was so sad to box up 20 copies of Langston Hughes that had never been read, but maybe someday a beleaguered English teacher will wander back into that storage area and bring those precious books back out.

The minute you walk in, you can feel that children are present and excited to be there. It is lively, nurturing and most of all, he has already learned so much in the little time he has been there. There are so many activities, the teachers and staff are wonderful. I am at peace knowing that he is in a wonderful learning environment where he and his friends are what matter most!

When she first started in the Lion room, she'd cry because she was so use to being with either my mom or myself but there was a teacher that really helpful in calming her down. After her birthday she was moved to the K3 class, Bee room. I absolutely loved her teacher, Ms Lyn & so did my daughter. Daily reports were something I loved. My daughter learned so much & was always happy to go. The classrooms and building in general were always clean. Kids were always either playing or focused. I never had an issue with somebody bullying my baby. They were everything I want for my child. Caring teachers, friendly kids, clean facility, with a good curriculum. I was always able to go to work knowing my baby was well taken care of. Boy do I miss this daycare.

It was right down the street from our home so I called and got him enrolled. Big mistake, huge. They scheduled a time that my husband and I could visit the school during the day and see the teachers, kids etc. well they called and had to reschedule. They did this a few times, using the fact that the covid epidemic was making it unsafe for us to see the daycare. This was in 2022 in January. At the time it threw me off but the world was opening back up and I made the excuse in my head that they were simply keeping the kids/teachers safe. Fast forward and I go to drop him off his first day, ever he had never been to a daycare or left my side in his 3 years being a "covid baby" I as any parent was terrified leaving him the first day. We get to the door and a teacher is standing there and takes his hand, and tells me parents aren't allowed inside for health reasons. I felt very uneasy, I mean I never even saw the room he'd be in, or met an actual teacher, only the director. She takes him inside door closed and locked. They sent me pictures throughout the day, which was all of 2 hours. I see him sitting at a table by himself, don't think too much of it. The next few days goes by and he went 3 days a week and pictures were sent to me via text message and he was always at a table. He did seem incredibly happy to see me at pickup and he seemed very reserved the short time I sent him there. My mom's intuition kicked in and I pulled him out after going maybe a total of 10 days throughout a three week period. My son was excited to go, and it was the best experience ever. I worked as a daycare teacher for milestones for 3 years, I knew something was very off about north shore preschool. A few months into him attending his new school he started communicating better, and that's when I heard the stories from him. 3 years later he still will tell me stories out of nowhere about the awful things and the the terrible teachers.The teachers were constantly yelling at the children, snapping on them for doing what kids do. A little boy made a huge mess one day and one of the teachers got in my son's face and went ballistic on him telling him to clean the mess up. He told her he didn't make the mess. He was at his table. This enraged her, and my son explained she was yelling and screaming at him and forced him to clean up the entire room for talking back to her. My son at that age, was a happy guy, he would make messes like every other kid does, but he was always good about cleaning up when he was done. The stories are all very similar. A lot of yelling at kids all day, over things like not wanting to eat the snack they were offered.He told me once that he was yelled at for not cleaning up, the only story he told me about at that time. I called the school asap and told them he'd never return. Told the director that he had been yelled at and in all my time working as a daycare teacher, never once did any single teacher raise their voice at any child of any age. She quickly apologized, and refunded me the money we had given them. She didn't ask me questions. She just wanted me gone and did what was necessary to get me to go away essentially. I was shocked that she wasn't concerned about the fact that the kiddos were being yelled at, or the way my son was for the rest of the day after being there for a short period of time. Why did I take this long to complain, because just this morning well driving him to Indian Hills, he said he was so happy that he had the best teachers in the world. Then he starts crying, my son never Cries, unless he is physically hurt. But he went on to tell me a story about a little boy there who was playing and for no reason the 2 teachers were screaming at him, my son doesn't know why. He told me he was so scared there he'd just sit at a table the entire time, to blend in. To not be seen or noticed. I've never heard him say one good thing about this place. And my heart breaks for him as well as the other children that have gone there, and are there now, and to the parents thinking this is a great place to watch over and protect the most important person in the world. I should have Never allowed him to go there the minute they wouldn't allow me to be a part of or see anything at this daycare. I'm confused as to how to move forward as the short time he was there still has a negative effect on him. Parents this is a warning and to listen to your kids and your instincts. I never want any child to be yelled at embarrassed and emotionally be scarred. But that's what this "school" does. Remove your kiddos and ask questions. If they are like my son and want to please adults, they too are thinking it's normal.He refers to it as "The BAD School" and in my mind that's too nice of an adjective for this place. Never ever send your kids here!! Sorry had to rant! Wish I didn't have to give it one star...

Mukwonago High School used to be known as a very good school. Our athletics are very good, but…read moreevery year our academics keep decreasing. Many of my teachers at this school give us notes to learn by ourselves without teaching my classmates or me. To add to this, our school ranking with academics has dropped a ton over the years, which reflects the teachers at our school and how their teaching tactics are not good. Another huge problem at the school is the cleanliness. Our school lacks this very much. Every time I walk into the bathroom, I gag. The only clean bathrooms at our school are the ones we aren't allowed to go into. There shouldn't be boogers or inappropriate writing on the walls. This leads me into my next point. Our school needs to reinstall paper towel rolls in the bathroom because it is proven in the study https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/the-bacterial-horror-of-the-hot-air-hand-dryer-2018051113823 by Harvard University that hand dryers are very bad for us. The hand dryers are contaminating the surrounding air and spreading bacteria onto us. No wonder I'm always sick and never at school.

Our son is going to be a Junior and is very active in sports (volleyball and baseball) and in Student Government. He is part of the IT academy which I think is a great opportunity for high schoolers. My daughter is very involved in the orchestra. The music program at MHS and throughout the district is top notch. At the most recent orchestra concert there was a combo performance with band and choir of The Battle Hymn of the Republic that left everyone with chills. Well done. As with any high school with thousands of kids, there are students and groups of students that do not behave well, but our experience with the faculty and students has been overall very positive.

My child transitioned seamlessly from the public school system to Our Redeemer.  They helped us…read moreevery step of the way!  They truly DO care about every single child in attendance.  My child has specific learning disabilities and I was hesitant at first with sending him to a private school.  I was always under the impression that the appropriate services for him would be lacking and that we would be back to square one. My concerns were totally unfounded.  Lutheran Special Schools Services at ORLS have exceeded my expectations.  My child is currently enrolled in fifth grade at ORLS. I am ECSTATIC to report that my child has gone from reading and writing at the first grade level in the public school to fourth grade level within one school year.  Also, his faith has exploded which is important to me.  Three more reasons I would recommend this learning institution:  The class sizes are small with very low student to teacher ratios.  They maintain a strict adherence to their anti-bullying policies.  Extremely open lines of communication between Administration/Faculty and families.  I cannot recommend this school highly enough!
