Okay, this is one of the cutest (if stone buildings that remind you of Tudor England could be considered cute) churches in town. And, as far as I know, people are friendly and largely left-leaning, which is fine by me. Check it out some time on a Sunday, and write a review so we all know how the service is. I'm pretty sure I skated in the back of this church way back in the 60s, and it rocked. So, why 2 stars? It's a warning to any curious Lenten fish-lovers. DO NOT GET YOUR FISH HERE! At least don't get your fish here until someone who can actually cook shows up. I grew up Catholic, so I've had my fair share of fish. And this was the VERY WORST FISH FRY I ever attended. Do I feel bad about sharing this? Yes, a little. Because, we'll, it's a church community, and they most likely deserve a little love. But I draw the line on their fish fry. Gross. I had limp and cold fries. I had fries that would break your teeth (even they were cold, and we live less than a mile away). But I had no good fries. Two teeny tiny hard hush puppies. The slaw, which they served generously, had a weird floral taste, and neither my mate, nor I, ventured past the first bite. Eew. The fish was dark and generally uninviting, though I will grant it was fish. The tartar sauce also had that strange floral taste - was it lavender? I don't know. What I do know is that we were so excited to try out the food here, and, at $15 a head, so mortifyingly disappointed. I've had some bad food in my day, but rarely was it this bad. My honest assessment and advice is that they hire an actual chef or other seasoned cook next year. But this year, they should hang up their cooking mitts and call it a day. I felt ashamed that I suggested this place, which I had found because they put a cute little flyer at the MTM Pool. I will warn everyone I see there to beware. read more
