Great school for both Spiritual and academic growth. Love the idea of uniforms, kids seem to enjoy it.

St. Mels Church has been around for many years, with exuberant Priests, Deacons, and Sisters. The leaders of the church, as well as their non-profit organizations not only express to help others in need, but they play a productive role, by assisting families with food and support, so they don't go hungry, provide baby supplies to mothers who need nourishment, and advocate for whats right for the sake of humanity. When I came to the church 8 years ago, I came with an open mind, to experience St. Mel Church myself without other commentaries. I kept returning because I found solace, sincerity, and an a genuine experience from mass and people who attended the church. I then decided to continue my faith journey and joined the RCIA program, to learn and understand the Catholic faith. I asked questions relating to Catholicism, I was never judged for my questions, nor rejected for who I was as a human being. I only gained respect and love for the Lord, others, and myself in a humble fashion. Overall the experiences of St. Mel Church has touched my life for the better, as a mother, daughter, friend, and wife. I trust and value the church that has lead me to instill a Catholic education for my daughter, who attends St. Mel school that has an reputation of excellence. Thank you St. Mels for your remarkable example and support. :)

I went to talk with Mrs Nagel in the middle of the school year about making the switch. She was wonderful from the moment we started our meeting and it has not changed now that my son attends the school. I am so impressed with the community the school and parish have created. There is such a strong bond between the principal, facility and parents. My son is now confident and has progressed at such a rapid rate. His kindergarten teacher Mrs Alcovendez is truly gifted and cares individual for each one of her students. Mrs shields is warm and inviting and is a proven asset in the class room. If you are looking for a school that will help you shape your children to become productive, kind and faithful individuals this is the school!

Graduated in 2000!!…read more I had a good h.s. experience, BV is a diverse group of kids with great tolerance for all kinds. It may be in a "yuppie" area, but BV accepts all kinds equally and fairly! I'm not saying kids didn't get picked on (cuz I know I did) but I feel at least when I went there, it wasn't so cliquey, so yes the cheerleaders hung out w/ the jocks, but that's h.s.) but the class of '99 & 2000 were very close and I feel we were a good group :) Academically we rocked as well as our band....sports...ehhh, not so much lol I had some favorite teacher's. Miller, Mr. Waugh, Mr. Gould Mrs. Yost, Mr. Fischer, and Mrs. Rose were all awesome!! Good memories!!!!

Old, OSHA violations in the cafeteria & stage, bland, food that is very easily the worst out of any school I've ever seen, unappealing visuals, confusing layout, unregulated racism and bigotry among students, and a lack of school spirit. The school staff are alright, not bad. Generally helpful. Some have passion. Don't take the painting class, the teacher is notoriously rude and unhelpful. It gets the job done, but if you're looking to move to the Sacramento area, I would consider looking into adjacent cities with better schools.

The teacher and a parent volunteer had made my son feel self conscious about himself and going to school. I had 2-3 meetings withe the director, sue jas, and 1 appointment with cynthia w the school board somebody who was not concerned with how my son was treated. She had a very greedy attitude. They tried to sweep it under the rug and we're parents that aren't having it. So now i have to find another school or homeschool. They did not have a "CHRISTIAN" attitude. Soooo disappointed with the problem solving skills. They are entrusted with peoples children.

The teachers really care about the kids and strive for good communication between themselves and the parents. The campus feels safe and is constantly updated with new toys and play structures for the kids. The parent participation aspect allows you to be involved in the everyday activities of class and watch your child in a different element as well as keeping the cost affordable. I would highly recommend this school/program to anyone!
