A MUST READ IF CONSIDERING SENDING A STUDENT. Worth noting- We did lots of research prior to deciding on this school and saw the reviews good and bad on every school review site. I have to say the bad reviews are 100% accurate. Our student had no issues academically or with regards to conduct and completed primary grades in another Catholic school, we are familiar with the system. This is an honest review sharing points that I find valuable to know ahead of time as this is a huge commitment for families Let's be clear, there is no "brotherhood" here. This is a study in what politics and donations can do in EVERY aspect. If you are not donating (in addition to tuition), alumni or "legacy" you should expect nothing. We realized this a few months in and gave our child time to come to it on his own. Six months later, we left. It's a hard lesson..learn from ours. Here is what they do not tell you: *Not all families pay full tuition-so be prepared to take it on the chin subsidizing others while they continue to ask you for more. *The school is proud of how many families travel from all over the Sacramento area to attend-yet they do not respect families time. I'm not sure who can handle fluctuating start and end times each week, but it got old really quick. *Additionally, you will have additional trips to the school numerous times a year to satisfy other requirements for performing arts participation -when your child is not in performing arts. This may not sound like much, but it added up to extra HOURS for our family. *There are some really good teachers there, but a few that shared their views on racial issues too frequently. *A staff member was inclined to call and try and pick a fight to remind us that we signed and agreed to our son participating in what the school believes in when we questioned the safety of a required "volunteer" activity around homeless. A child is not a car contract , and parents never relinquish their rights by signing their kid up for school. If you are familiar with Catholic education, most schools acknowledge they are the secondary, behind parents in forming students. That is not the case here. *Be prepared that if you are not doing the extras above, your child will not see any real athletic opportunities for sports. These spots and spotlights are reserved for donors/alumni, etc. *They say they do not offer athletic scholarships. Yet, many kids are there because the school enticed them $ and openly share the details with other students. Several sleep in class and do not appear to want to be there or understand the opportunity given to them. * No surprise, drugs are on campus and the admin does a decent job addressing it. * They have no tolerance cheating policy which is great. But we lost count of how many messages we saw other students asking to copy our students' work. We thought we did our homework and jumped through every hoop-and for us it was a joke. We spent over 3 hrs a day commuting, + $ and we have no idea what it was for. Save your money for your child's college. read more

Hated this school. The administratio from the principle on down. Best decision we ever made. Thriving now. Our experience was, straight kids don't fit in no matter how hard they try to be accepting of the differences. Mather and science teachers were good. read more

Our grandson was suspended a week before graduation and his final baseball playoff game because he missed one class that he thought he had accumulated enough points in. He missed the class so he could eat lunch before the game, the class being held during lunch time. He played all four years and now they decide that he should be punished for this missing one class? what in the hell were they thinking? He and his family are very upset by this. This borders on barbarism! Who in the hell makes such a thoughtless decision like this? Whoever the pencil pusher is that did this is not fit to work at a school who claims to care about kids. Have not heard yet if they are going to let him graduate. Just disgustin. read more

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend Jesuit 1981 - 85. The scholastic and religious educational program used at Jesuit helped me to become a better person by way of the intentions of the teachers, both lay and religious, that are designed to develop the young men into Men for others. read more

Graduated in 2016 and I miss my days here. As unbelievable as it sounds, all of my teachers were amazing here. Great people both in and outside the classroom. I felt the framework of the classes and coursework given 100% prepared me for college. So much so, that it made some of my college courses feel easier since I was prepared. I had all types of friends here, regardless of income level. Compared to my time in public school, everyone at Jesuit felt equal. No one cared who's rich and who isn't. Most importantly, I felt the 'Men for Others' actually meant something. It wasn't some slogan tossed around for show. It's something taught and expected both while on campus and off. I enjoyed my Christian service time as well as my opportunity to travel to Kansas City, MO for my senior Christian service. It was also great to be part of the varsity swimming team. The high-expectations while studying here was difficult at times but it encouraged us to do our best work and go beyond the bare minimum. All in all, Jesuit is an amazing place with teachers and staff that actually care about their students success and well-being. I learned so many life lessons here and encourage others to come here. You'll make friends and memories for life. If I could go here again, I would!! read more

Super liberal woke school. Non tolerant for young growing minds. Their discipline is extreme and not conducive for young minds. Their reputation continues to go down over last decade. Would highly recommend searching out another private school option. read more

This HS is an amazing place for your young man to learn and be challenged. Instructors are amazing and your students will be challenged on a daily basis. The atmosphere is amazing, I have a senior and freshman and they both love their school. read more

My son and I both went to Jesuit as well as two brother-in-laws and two nephews. The education was excellent but more important was the development of Men for Others. Further the school had less diversity of ethnicity or background when I was there. It is surprising what a much more diverse and tolerant school it is now. I recommend it to anyone! read more

My parents MADE me attend Jesuit High School. Yep, I had NO CHOICE in the matter whatsoever and honestly, for a while, I kinda hated them for it (really, I did). I would have much rather attended my country hick high school in Loomis (Del Oro) but that didn't happen. At some point during my junior year my folks figured out how miserable I was and they gave me the option of leaving for my senior year. My answer to that was a simple, "HECK NO, I've trudged through this 3/4 of the way, I'm gonna finish it!" Attending Jesuit allows a young man to rub shoulders with the sons of Sacramento's rich, famous and elite. To that I say, SO WHAT! (who gives a flying flip?) Attending Jesuit also allowed me to take three years of Latin as my foreign (albeit DEAD) language. Although it's dead, Latin is/was still pretty cool! Jesuit does have it's redeeming qualities, thus the 5 stars. The discipline one learns is great and the motivation instilled to achieve is even greater. The campus is attractive and the faculty is top notch. The athletic teams are strong and Jesuit goes beyond simple education, as it seeks to help a teenage adolescent become a "Man For Others" which is not the type of direction you get in public high school. So in the long run, Jesuit actually worked out for me and I'm glad that I was FORCED AGAINST MY WILL to attend there. Thanks mom and dad! Really, I don't hate you! read more

Top notch! There is NO other school I would choose for my son to attend! The staff is top notch, the teachers are excellent and the school teaches way beyond everyday academia. As a Jesuit High School parent, we couldn't be more pleased with our son's experience. There are a lot of statements about the brotherhood and the honor and values of the school. Thing is it is all a face. What really happens is privilege and favoritism at every level. From access to grades to sport. it is not an honest system. Those who donate more see their child "do" better. it is all a farce. I am a parent and my son is a senior and I can say it has been a waste of time and money. My son has not gained or done any better here than he would anywhere else. The whole school is setup for parents to "feel" they are doing something better for their child. Most parents buy into it regardless of the outcomes or comparative options. Also as a CSUS engineering faculty I can say coming from Jesuit buys you absolutely nothing. I've sat on the admin board for over 20 years and this is CSUS not an elite uni who will regard it even less. Jesuit gains your child nothing.
