At St. Mark's the teachers are caring. The Montessori method enables kids to learn at their own pace.

My child was reading when they left preK and has since significantly regressed. All concerns brought up to the teachers have been ignored. No disciplinary actions have been reported to me, and there are no incident reports being made about injuries. No parents are allowed in the building and the teachers are unable to tell me what kind of " science" they're learning. I have no way to support my student at home without proper communication. What I'm told by my student is that all lessons are done with videos. This is not the Montessori way! 14 + years experience teaching and you don't have curriculum to share? Very odd.

She was physically assaulted 3 times during one school year by male classmates, some of her teachers and administrators were unprofessional, and her academic performance was deteriorating. The school was found by the state to be in violation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and we've been made aware of multiple FERPA violations as well. In addition to concerns for her well-being, we had concerns over the school's use of taxpayer funding. They recently settled a lawsuit arising from the ousting of their previous director. The school's insurance paid over $200k, and the school's taxpayer-funded premiums skyrocketed. This information is readily available from Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests to the school, the local court, and their insurance provider NMPSIA. The school's HR director installed his daughter as the principal without evidence of a competitive application process. This administrator additionally arranged for the undocumented and uncompensated use of 5 acres of school property, despite the excessive watering costs and farm chemical risks. The administrative assistants were fantastic, but not enough to make up for the school's bigger problems. Since then, we transferred our daughter to a public school in Rio Rancho, where she is thriving. We should have pulled her out sooner. Brian Freno, PhD

My oldest daughter, Dasia went on to graduate with honors from Brooklyn Technical High School and Amherst College. She got her Masters from Wake Forest and will be pursuing her PHD. My daughter Alasia went to Midwood HS and graduated at 20 with her Bachelors in Bioengineering from Michigan State University. She just completed her Masters at NYU. They went when they were very young and even though they don't remember things like going to their first protest (w/ the students of UNM protesting the Invasion of Iraq in '03) or to Disneyland, they both remember Our Montessori and the wonderful teachers, especially Ms. Belinda and Mr. Chris. They remember the school down to details like the fishtank, the classrooms decorated with planets and red bicycles. When I told Alasia I spoke with Ms. Roxanne, she asked "Wow, does she remember us?" I told her yes and her face lit up. I would recommend this school to every parent. The staff is attentive, genuinely love teaching and are dedicated to the mission of Montessori. In NYC, I would have never been able to afford to send my daughters to a school like this. Ms. Roxanne's explanation of why she chose to structure Our Montessori as it is in order to make it accessible to all children regardless of socioeconomic background was heartwarming and inspirational. I went on to work in special education in NYC and I hope to design a Montessori program exactly like Our Montessori in honor of the great work they've done. I wholeheartedly recommend this school and look forward to reading all of the alumni stories of achievement to come!

I am in awe that I can honestly say my kids have been happy every time I have picked them up from school.  The level of commitment and attention to detail that is required to achieve that level of happiness within a school environment speaks volumes in itself.  I recommend this school to anyone seeking a truly nurturing, stimulating, positive, creative, dynamic, and healthy environment for their children to give them the very best start in life!

In 2023, it was time to go back to work after having my daughter. I decided to enroll my daughter…read moreat this location. She was 6 months old, in the infant room. She did really well in there with Ms. Trista. When it came time to transition to the toddler classroom 12-18m it went well except her main teacher ended up leaving after a few months. Ms. Amber ended up being the lead teacher. My daughter the older she got was then in a classroom next door for 18-24m. This teacher also ended up transferring to a different location. Once my daughter was in the 2 year classroom (willow) I believe she was finally stable with two teachers and did well. Sadly the location and a few things my husband and I noticed with the school have led us to move our daughter to a school nearby our home. Out of all the staff, I have personally noticed these teachers go above and beyond for my daughter. Ms. Trista, Ms. Rosa & her 2 year old teacher in Willow. I can't remember her name. I felt they genuinely took care of my daughter like she was their own. There were a few teachers I didn't care for. Sadly due to events that happened to my child. When she was in the infant room. My daughter would sometimes be dropped off in the classroom across from her actual class. Around Christmas time a few years ago my mother in law picked up my daughter and had sent me photos of her. Earlier that day, I received a call from the school saying that my 8/9 month old had a bloody nose when she was in this other classroom. From the photos my mother in law took my baby had a gash in her cheek from what it looks like a deep scratch! It was so deep in her skin, she currently is almost 3 years old and it's a scar on her face. I think maybe the teacher scratched her on accident with her long nails. Yet they wrote on the report it was a "bloody nose". Yet my baby had a deep scratch on her cheek. You work with children and babies for gods sake. Some of the girls and teachers here had talons for nails. I forgot the teachers name in charge of her at that time but the front office staff said she was basically here for over 20 years so she knows what she's doing. Which is ridiculous! There were other incidents too where my daughter got bit twice in two weeks in the first toddler classroom. Clearly someone may not have been paying attention to my daughter if she was getting bit. Once my daughter got to the 2 year old classroom her teacher had very old school traditions with the kids and taught them to be independent. My husband and I enjoyed her being in there. She was starting to thrive again and enjoy being dropped off at school. Overall once I noticed the front admin changes. Things started to go downhill which was when my daughter was in the first toddler classroom with Ms. Amber. The front staff was less and less approachable and I felt speaking to them or addressing an issue to them I was walking on eggshells at times or they would be having personal conversations and I'd be interrupting. There were issues I've noticed that a few teachers would be on their phones. One time I dropped off my daughter in Ms. Trista's class and I look across at the babies on the other side and I seen through the window the same lady who was there over 20+ years, was on her phone while an infant baby was hysterically crying in the crib in the room across from Elm. Mind it was the same teacher that I believe scratched my child with her long nails. I had addressed this issue to the front staff and just by her lengthy time at Montessori nothing was done and they said teachers can be on their phones updating procare. Ok, I get that. But this baby was in need of her attention at the moment and as a mother that was sad to see. Tending to that child was more important than being on her phone. Another instance I've noticed was Ms. Amber was always on her phone as well for drop off but over time she actually got better not always being on it. I get they need to send updates on Procare but they mostly do that if the kids are on their nap time. Overall, the staff has a very high turnover with the admin, front staff and teachers. I am not sure why the dynamic in the front admin changed but it feels very different now. Also, just because someone has been a teacher for over 20+ years doesn't always mean they enjoy their job. This day and age, the longer the people are working in a job they get invincible and think discipline wouldn't / shouldn't be given to them. Positive changes need to happen here at Springstone with the staff! Attached are photos of before and after of my daughter with the scratch.

Confirmed with the director there are no Spanish classes or lessons currently, which would indicate a need for an update to the website. When I asked what language exposure opportunities are offered at the school, I was told about a teacher who "speaks another language but I don't know what it is." When I asked what their policy/procedure around name-calling in the classroom, they stated there wasn't one. If children are calling each other names, it won't be shut down and the educators may engage in the name-calling as well. When I shared our philosophy at home, that we don't call people outside of their names (that it's respectful to refer to people as they prefer)- and if people are called outside of their names, then the adults around shut down the behavior and role model appropriate/ humane treatment of other humans; I was then told that this wasn't the school for us because they would not shut down name-calling and that it would potentially be encouraged as "imaginative play." If you want a school that encourages name-calling and potential bullying, has indescrepincies on their website, and doesn't know their staff's backgrounds- this may be the place for you. If you want a school that encourages education, humane treatment, and cultural diversity- this probably isn't it.

Each time myself or another parent shared a poor experience on there, the replies came across as cold, generic, defensive, and frankly gaslighting, lacking any genuine empathy or understanding. Unfortunately, my in-person experience matched that tone exactly. The atmosphere earns a 1/5 at best. The building feels far more like a sterile clinic or office than a warm, inviting elementary school or preschool. The outdoor play area is extremely small and limited, with very little equipment for the children. Even small details like Christmas stockings with typed and stapled staff names suggesting high turnover, and awards displayed on the walls that are all several years outdated gave the impression that things have declined and aren't improving. Those old awards seem to be up there for a reason: nothing recent to replace them with. The staff interaction was the worst part, warranting a 0/5. I found them consistently rude, condescending, and disingenuous. They gossip openly about the director and each other in front of kids and parents. If your child is remotely unsettled, you're called to do an early pickup. Staff do not seem to enjoy their jobs, and it shows. You'd see kids walk out from the day with mucus dried and crusted from never being cleaned during the day. During a visit, I observed teachers chatting among themselves for several minutes while a young child slid down the slide and hit their head at the bottom and only got attention once he started crying. My own kid was injured quite badly by the teacher which is why we disenrolled immediately. My kid used to HATE it here, cried every day about having to go, and wow I can't imagine why. What struck me was how indifferent the staff seemed toward families leaving. When we decided to withdraw, there was no curiosity about why, no attempt to understand our concerns, and certainly no effort to retain us. It genuinely felt like it didn't matter to them whether we stayed or left. That complete lack of care or investment in the families they serve spoke volumes. This similar observation was also echoed in another Google review that's also now gone. Practical issues only made things worse - parking is severely limited, turning drop off and pick up into chaos with constant car horns and aggressive maneuvering. The overall operation felt disorganized and unwelcoming from the moment I arrived. I'm genuinely baffled that this place had a waitlist. We quickly found a much better option just down the road- one that actually feels like a school, with engaging play spaces and genuinely kind, warm staff. My kid LOVES the new school and is thriving there. I'm just sad that this was our first experience in a learning environment when there are clearly MUCH better options. I didn't even get into everything like the complete and utter lack of communication. Even for free, I wouldn't consider it worth the time or stress. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere.

My son cried for weeks, I got calls/texts everyday for early pick up. Several times I found him sitting on the floor or on the swing, crying by himself. I felt that they are massively understaffed. Some of the teachers are kind, nice and caring but they are overwhelmed. We found the nido leadership to be rude and incompetent. They implied that something is wrong with our baby and maybe he will need special care/attention. One of them said she "has not seen a baby who has so much social anxiety in her whole career".
