With the active Flynn case, I have serious concerns about Christian Life Center and what its…read moreleadership teaches about Christian accountability. After watching and listening to Alleigha Botner testify in court about her relationship with Ashley Flynn's husband and the disturbing conversations surrounding Ashley, I find the situation horrifying. Botner has been identified as a worship leader who was also involved in hiring. Hearing testimony about joking or talking about killing Ashley while an affair was taking place is deeply troubling--especially when the people involved publicly presented themselves as Christians. Whatever the jury ultimately determines about the murder itself, adultery, deception, jealousy, and joking about someone's death should never be normalized or brushed aside by a church. A Christian church should be willing to confront serious wrongdoing, protect innocent people, and hold its leaders and staff accountable rather than simply protect its reputation. If there is evidence that anyone beyond the defendant participated in, encouraged, facilitated, concealed, or knowingly lied about criminal conduct, I hope law enforcement thoroughly investigates it and allows the evidence to determine whether charges are appropriate. Ashley Flynn did not deserve to die. She deserved the opportunity to have the conversation she reportedly wanted and to live her life with her daughters and family. My heart and prayers are with Ashley's daughters and the rest of her family. I hope the truth comes out fully, that everyone responsible for any criminal conduct is held accountable through the justice system, and that churches learn from this tragedy instead of looking the other way when serious wrongdoing occurs. I also pray that Christian Life Center seriously examines whether Alleigha Botner should ever hold a position of spiritual leadership again. In my view, having an affair with a married man while publicly presenting yourself as a Christian leader is fundamentally incompatible with the accountability I expect from church leadership. Using Christianity as a shield does not erase or excuse wrongdoing. I am also deeply troubled by the testimony concerning what Botner initially told the FBI and the people that knew her and what she later disclosed Ex. If investigators determine that anyone knowingly lied to federal agents or committed another crime, that should be handled by law enforcement and the courts. I believe the Devil is real, and Christians should pay close attention when faith is used to excuse behavior that directly contradicts the values being preached. No one should be declared criminally guilty based simply on anger or suspicion; that determination belongs to the justice system. But Christians absolutely can--and should--hold their spiritual leaders accountable for their actions. Ashley deserved better. I pray for justice, truth, and healing for her daughters and family.

The first time I attended a service I didn't think it was going to be our church home because it was in a gym. About 10 minutes into the pastor's message I felt a warm feeling of home and it has been our church for over three years at the time of this post. The people are welcoming, the message is what we need to hear, and the church really cares about our family. We have been stationed several places and this is absolutely our favorite church.

I was a member of this church for many years. I took all the new members classes and lot of other…read moreclasses as well. I attended every week for years. All of a sudden they informed me I was not a member and to become one I had to take a bunch of new members classes that were taught by people who were no there for even a year. I found this demoralizing and demeaning not to mention absurd. Also I could see they only hired their own family members for the church except for the maid who was a struggling single mom. Needless to say I left.
