School administration and their supporting board leaves much to be desired. If you are looking for a place that handles things fairly, communicates to parents, or students feel supported, safe, and cared for, look elsewhere. They also do not uphold or connect parents of children with existing IEPs with the public school appropriately. Through our journey we found there is no oversight and management of this school and if you ask or share a concern for parents not being looped in when something is said to, impacts, or directed at your child, the board and principal will end your enrollment. However the next week during pick up, his eyes were puffy and I could tell he had been crying for some time. He stated one of the teachers (with black hair) hit him on his arm. I immediately spoke with the director Kim who had him point out who did it behind the two way mirror in her office. He pointed to the lady "in the green shirt with black hair". She was disappointed and in shock. Told me she'd have a talk with that teacher and get back. After not hearing back, I sent emails and made calls to her. Finally received an email stating "we have a hard time believing this happened" and a whole bunch of other non sense. My kid was so scared of this one teacher he would shut down on the drive there. We finally decided to pull him out a week later since "nothing" happened. Ms. Brenda is a great teacher, and it's seems as if Kim the director runs the place very well- but I think she should've handled this situation more seriously. Cooperate was contacted but haven't heard much since.

My husband and I absolutely love the Montessori program, and we have loved seeing how the children embrace every aspect of it as they grow. The teachers there have been wonderful, and my children literally skip in the door every morning. The educational activities, field trips, and life skills that they offer here are second to none. I have been especially impressed the past couple of years with the infant room teachers. They are truly the nicest people in the world, and my daughter adores them. This has made the transition from maternity leave to working full time so much easier! My oldest daughter started Kindergarten this past year in the public school system, but she rides the bus back to Step By Step in the afternoons for the school age program. She has excelled in Kindergarten thanks in large part to her Montessori training, and Step By Step remains a familiar respite for her to come to after school. The staff here are very agreeable and accommodating, and you can tell they truly love what they do because most of the teachers have been there for many years. I admire what they do, and I go to work every day knowing my children are not only receiving excellent care, but they are also growing academically, as well as socially each and every day!
