While they advertise themselves as a full Islamic school, the reality is very different. The school is far too expensive for what it actually offers. In the middle school and high school buildings, the only subjects that seem to be taken seriously are Arabic and math. In Quran class, students are simply handed a Quran and are expected to already know how to read and memorize it, with little to no proper instruction or support. New students are not treated well, and there is little effort made to help them adjust or feel welcomed. This is not the Islamic learning environment they promote. Everything costs extra, the expectations are unreasonable, and the overall atmosphere can be emotionally draining. In general, the middle and high school environment can completely destroy a child's motivation and love for learning. It is not a healthy place for students during such important developmental years. That being said, the elementary school is a completely different story. The elementary program is actually excellent. They teach Quran reading properly, Arabic writing, and Islamic studies in a structured and supportive way. The environment is kind, safe, and nurturing, which is exactly what young children need. Teachers are more patient, and students are encouraged rather than pressured. I would strongly recommend this school only for elementary-aged children. However, the same recommendation does not apply to the middle or high school. Parents should seriously reconsider enrolling their older children here, as the quality of education and student care drops significantly after elementary school.

My children have been in daycare most of their lives. We spent three years at one school and three…read moreat another. We only changed because our old daycare couldn't accommodate new school hours. BCLC was a disaster from the start. My older child recognized one woman from his school and expressed his dislike for her. He's always cheerful and likes pretty much everyone, but was frustrated because he had not liked her as a substitute. I could soon see why. She always seemed frantic and hectic with a frenzied voice. It was easy to see she was impatient and stressed--not good characteristics for being around children. No wonder my extroverted child had noticed something wrong. My introverted child who doesn't like crowds hated the school from the start, and I couldn't figure out why, but I was soon getting calls from the frantic/stressed woman several days a week because she couldn't deal with him. Apparently, her high strung behavior was not a good match. I'd never gotten a call from a daycare to pick up my child before, but suddenly she was throwing fits several times a week. The tone of voice in the voice mails she left was hysterical. My child reported to me that when she got frustrated, she grabbed and pinched his arms really hard and that it hurt. I took photos of the red marks around his wrist. She can't contain herself and can't keep herself from arguing with a six year old who is small for his age...which is NOT okay in a business where one works with kids. Even when she wasn't fighting with my child, every time I saw her or had to interact with her, it was obvious she was rushed and not handling stress well. I am very concerned about a daycare where the frantic/stressed adult fights and argues and cannot be patient with children. The adult should be in charge, and clearly this woman was not. The woman we met when we first started was only there a brief time before suddenly I heard a different director name. I have no idea what is going on there, but they have management issues, and apparently hired a frantic person who didn't work out as a substitute teacher elsewhere. I need to be able to go to work--not take daily calls from a teacher who can't deal with small children. We hadn't had problems with childcare before, and I suspect we won't again. The frantic woman needs to see a therapist to help her de-stress.

Beavercreek Christian Learning Center (BCLC) located in the Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene is a wonderful, well-kept school located in Beavercreek, Ohio, redundant, no? Both my daughters attended preschool here and I fervently wished I kept my eldest daughter in BCLC for Kindergarten instead of letting her go to public school in the Mad River School District. 1) BCLC teachers are well-educated and have their degrees or are working towards higher degrees. Many teachers have been established for many, many years. 2) The facilities are clean, peanut-free, and video-monitored. 3) Impressive organization of facility, activities, etc; no confusion. Newsletters are distributed monthly. 4) There is curriculum! Many children are reading (it seemed like all the students in my eldest daughter's class read) by the time kindergarten rolls around. 5) In-house field "trips" for preschoolers; actual field trips for kindergarteners. 6) Parent involvement encouraged. 7) Chapel on Wednesday mornings; really enjoyed by kids. 8) Christmas Bell performance given by kids is enjoyed by parents and kids alike! 9) Tuition is comparable to all other great schools, lunch is included; preschool time from 8:30-12:30. Extended before and after care provided. 10) VERY IMPORTANT: Never closes unless Wright Patterson Air Force Base closes or for a religious holiday. In this area, all other schools close all the time. Take this into account if you work; especially on supposed "snow days."

So educational from nutrition to cooking techniques, to healthier whole food choices and reducing food waste tips. Yair made the Shakshuka and Lainey the hummus. Lainey provided a list of ingredients and kitchen tools needed way in advance. She provided step-by-step instructions live through out our class. Patiently answering all the amateur virtual sous chef participants questions. They had two camera angels which was great. And offering substitute items and tips. Along with General information about food and their story etc. . The Rockwern host Rabbi Laura Baum was great, reading our chat questions and repeating the instructions. And making sure everyone was keeping up and felt at ease. Both dishes turned out great. Very delicious. I highly recommend their adult programs. It was hot so store bought Naan this time around.

LeBlonde, a legend in the Queen City's machine tool industry. LeBlonde built his mansion in 1913. European heritage is prominent throughout the structure, such as lead peaked windows and a stone exterior. While some renovations have been needed, I was pleased to see most of the original home untouched and intact. LeBlonde lived in the house until his death in 1953. Afterwards, the property was willed to the Archdiocese and became St. Ursula Villa in the 1960s. St. Ursula Villa is a beautiful landmark rich in Cincinnati history. Since this is a private school, the most respectful time for viewing is on the weekends when classes are not in session.
