I drive in from out of town to go to this church for the beautiful Tridentine Latin Mass. The priests are so excellent in the confessional, often offering advice. The Mass is beautiful. Highly recommended. read more

This is a beautiful old church that has a lot of history in New Orleans. The church dates to 1840 while the parish was created in 1833. Even though this has historically been a church that served the Irish immigrant population in typical New Orleans fashion they now host a St. Joseph's alter here for St. Joseph's Day following the tradition of New Orleans Sicilian immigrant population. These Irish and Sicilian traditions continue with combined St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's parades running in many parts of the city and surrounding suburbs of New Orleans as the two Saints holidays are very near each other on the calendar every year. read more

Located in the New Orleans downtown next to Lafayette square is this beautiful church with very tall ceilings. My family and I came on pilgrimage to this church and we are so blessed to have visited. read more

We were walking around downtown NOLA and saw the church spires from the distance, and knew we had to pay a visit. St. Patrick's is absolutely stunning, both inside and outside. I don't think anyone could argue how other-worldly beautiful stained glass is- and it decorated the side walls at intervals, casting a colorful glow on the aisles of seats. Then, at the main atrium and stage is a large dome painted with various scenes and stained glass in the actual hollow of the dome, and you just feel like you're walking in a holy place. That may sound cheesy but it's the best way to describe it. In each corner of the church there are also setups where you can donate and light a candle. So there are several rows of candles burning in each corner, and something about a small open flame just adds to the serene peacefulness and stateliness of the place. We even were able to speak with a custodian working in the building when we came and he was so sweet and sincere. Such a cool visit. If you see the church spires, here in New Orleans or elsewhere, follow my advice and follow them!! read more

There is something about NOLA. When I first came to NOLA the city took over my body. I had to try everything. But year after year the place is not that fun and the so call pandemic really messed the place up. Anyway year after year I have developed a very strong and close relationship to the big guy. You know God his son and the Holy Spirit. This trip I was lucky to land a hotel right around the corner from St. Patrick's. I started out with a confession and daily mass. Fell in Love with the Priest there that is "Agape love folks." The guys must take some type of voice lesions. They have clear dictation when they speak and have a very personal presentation. I could just listen to them talk all day. I got to meet the Pastor a true Irish boy. Garret O'Brian. I really like talking to him a true pious man. You want to tell him everything I have to say one lady. She has some SMI. She has to check everyone out. Carrie's a crucifix (large) to bless the pews. She takes out her photos of the saints and places them on the pew. She is covered with a blue shall, black face mask. But she is very attentive to the mass. I figure I'll have a run in with her as I have been at mass this week with her and she doesn't know me. I saw her eyeing today lol. Anyway my spirituality is growing leaps and bounds here. A lot is to Father O'Brian. He makes me want more and more. read more

Open to the public when mass is not in session. Beautiful land mark. The gentleman cleaning was gracious enough to turn on the lights for us. I recommend stopping in to see the architecture. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a beautiful church!! The detail of the arch and the beautiful stained glass. It's so breath taking on how much detail there was in this cathedral. The church was built back in 1833 and with many history that this church has in it. Attending Sunday Mass was the most amazing gathering. The priest, alter boy and deacon was dress very proper. The service was well put together and everything was in line. Church should be like this everywhere.. I have had the pleasure to visit this church a few times. They offer a weekly Solemn High Mass according to the Extraordinary From, which is what drew me here. While waiting for the Traditional Mass to start, I happened to notice that at least one of their Sunday Novus Ordo services are done Ad Orientam...which was very interesting. The Church itself is a sight to behold. The exterior is imposing. The inside is beautiful, complete with wrought iron, craftsman woodwork, gorgeous stained glass and complimentary statuary. As someone who is a member of an Altar Guild myself, I was a little disappointed by the Liturgy. Whereas we have followed one Rubrics author they have followed another, one that I am admittedly a little biased against. But I was astonished and edified to see how many people were active in the Parish, both in the pews and the Altar Guild. In all, Saint Patrick's has become my home parish anytime that I am in New Orleans. read more

So we attended the Latin mass today at 9:15 to say that it was about the craziest Mass I have ever been to would be an understatement!! I'm fairly certain that it is as close to a Klan ( KKK) meeting I will ever attend. The priest started by saying that Jesus came to tell us not to mix with other people. And that was the whole purpose of his teachings because. He came because people weren't understanding the text from the Old Testament that God was telling the Jews not to mix with the other people that they were sharing countries with, we sat there stunned because that's certainly not what we've read or understood. We should've known he was setting us up for his real thoughts. And those were that we need to cull the United States of all dark skin people. Then he went on a homophobic rant and when we were leaving he had moved on to the climate change is a complete hoax. I have no idea what else he said after that because we couldn't take anymore we left. This was not a casual first time we went to church we go to mass pretty much every Sunday whatever country or town we are visiting. So to have somebody spewing this type of hatred from the pulpit is just unbelievable. read more

There's nothing more spiritually uplifting than attending mass in a beautiful Cathedral. What makes it a little bit more special is when this Cathedral is a historical landmark. I've been meaning to go to Mass at St. Patrick's Church although the first option has always been the magnificent St. Louis Cathedral. Since I missed the morning mass I found that St. Patrick's has a Sunday evening mass....5:30 p.m. The church dates back to 1833 and it was known as the "Irish Church" when Irish settlers needed a place of worship - in english. It's a wonderful place to connect with God. The murals, the altar, the stained glass and the columns are amazing. The mass was inspiring and I took a little more delight in it since the priest sounded a little bit like George Takei. Feeling blessed in New Orleans. read more

What a beautiful Church and Mass. The Church itself is beautiful, and the Mass is perfect. I was here during Lent, so I can't attest to all the beauties of the other liturgical seasons, but this one was very reverent, very proper. I had never knelt to receive the Holy Eucharist before. so that was a nice surprise. I also attended my first Benediction. While I love and adore my own home parish, I also enjoy the history, beauty and endurance of the older parishes such as this one. read more

As a visitor to New Orleans, And discovered that St Patricks was only 5 blocks from my lodging. This morning I attended the Gregorian Latin Mass. The church is absolutely beautiful it is truly a treasure. The traditional Mass was an uplifting experience. The closest thing to heaven on earth. There were many women and girls wearing a mantilla, so I felt quite comfortable with my own veil. I don't know what the other mass is like, but if you wish to experience the old way, this is a wonderful church. read more

Absolutely stunning cathedral. Went by just hoping to get a look inside and actually stumbled upon a mass.

I am only giving 2 stars because the church is very beautiful. I recently got married in this church and it was the worse choice I ever made. The wedding coordinator, Ann Johnston, was horrible. I made sure to have all of my documents to her on time and called her 2 weeks before my wedding to make sure I wasn't missing any documents. Less than 24 hours before my wedding, she leaves me a nasty voice message that says my fiance and I are not getting married in the church due to missing documents. I couldn't believe that a wedding coordinator would deny someone the sacrament of marriage. I had to quickly have everything faxed to her and try to find copies. She went back and forth on what is an "acceptable" wedding dress, what Natural Family Planning classes meet her expectations, "acceptable" music, and what photos I could take in the church.. I didn't know that you couldn't kiss at the sanctuary (she yelled "that's enough. We don't do that in this parish. That's too wild" and made my photographer stop taking pictures). My day of happiness was ruined by this lady. Bride BEWARE do not get married in this church! read more
