A place for worship! One of the oldest cathedral with over 240yrs of worship here! Very serene. There was a very obnoxious side show right in front of this cathedral when we visited. I was so surprised how quiet it was near the front of the alter. We walked around the cathedral. Got some prayers of Thanksgiving. And in the front there is access to holy water. Took some home with us. Also had the opportunity to light some candles for a few bucks. It's free to come inside. A very welcoming place..clean and just beautiful inside. Donated generously for keeping their doors open and allowing people to come in for free. I'm sure the cost to keep this cathedral up can cost a fortune. My favorite part of this cathedral is the Sea shell which is a great reminder of baptism and right next to it is a the baptismal areal.

The oldest practicing cathedral, the architecture was beautiful. Digital donation options as you exit if you don't have cash. It was nice to see a Joan of Arc statue near the entrance/exit. If it's open definitely a must see and not just from the outside.

In town for the week and was glad I was able to attend Mass at 9am on Sunday. This Cathedral is huge, beautiful and historical. Beautiful landscapes outside facing the Mississippi River. Enjoyed Mass here today, felt like one of the churches I grew up in New York (Blessed Sacrament). Definitely recommend stopping by even if it's not for Mass. I believe the church is over 200 years.

When you get to New Orleans the St. Louis Cathedral is the focal point of that area. You can't miss it. It is free to go in but you need to be quiet and respectful. The exterior and interior of this Cathedral is absolutely stunning. Looks very classy and brings you back in time. This place is also great to take a kneel and pray or just take pictures and walk around as you enjoy the cathedral. Highly recommend

Beautiful church. This is one of my favorite spots to visit when you are in New Orleans. I would recommend stopping and visiting. A lot of history and art. Safe travel. Prost

Attended mass the second Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday . Church is beautiful and in good condition. The bishop was there . A few odd things , small narthex area in this old church , the main entrance is through those doors . After you are seated and mass starts , they rope off the main section the priest walks down . That kinda scared me because there were folks still coming in after the mass started and people walking around behind you A security guard was present all through the mass . No public restrooms . Good luck if you try to find one on the street and get back in time . One cool thing after the 9am mass , we hit the streets and got a Bloody Mary . We had Hail Marys and Bloody Mary's that morning . There was an art festival going on right outside the doors in courtyard as mass was going on . I've never attended mass here before but it was packed . I'd recommend.. good homily too .

We LOVE visiting this church! It's always one of our stops when we visit NOLA!

The Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, also called St. Louis Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans and is THE OLDEST cathedral in continuous use in the United States. If you're near or in NOLA you MUST visit this gorgeous piece of history. The architect is stunning! The aura once inside this sacred place will blanket you with such a feeling of awe. The imagery, both visually and figuratively, inside the cathedral is breathtaking! Overall the entire place as a whole- outside and in will simply leave you speechless!! Every time we come to Louisiana, and walk the French Quarter, it is always on our list of places to visit. As a family, we have been visiting St. Louis Cathedral for almost 7 years. I have 5 children (15, 11, 10, 8, 8) and even each and everyone of them is just taken back by the sheer size and wow factors of every detail inside the building. Words could never accurately describe just how transfixing and breathtaking this sacred place is. Pictures could never capture the beauty and years of labor taken to build this historic landmark. It's peaks on the building make you look to the sky's and thank God- or whomever you believe in. You can't help but feel this sense of wonderment when you're here. I could say so much but none of my words can truly help you see or understand just how amazing this place is. If you're in NOLA, please take the time to visit St. Louis Cathedral. It's open to the public, to enter and wonder around and take in everything it has to offer. It's a spiritual place that will truly soothe your soul inside and out- even if you're not a religious person. Something about this place just gets into your heart and remains- even after you leave. P.S It is air conditioned, and strollers are welcome.

Wasn't able to go in at the time but this is a very nice cathedral. The architecture is great and right in the middle of Jackson Square. There was plenty of entertainment going on around there but I really took in the amazement of the historical Cathedral.

Beautiful Catholic church located in front of the famous Jackson Square statue. My husband and I came inside this church yesterday afternoon to escape the heat. The architect is not only beautiful on the outside, it is truly gorgeous on the inside too. The stain glass windows and the paintings on the ceiling are beautifully made. Love that the air conditioning was on high (although I was a little cold), but I am sure the bill is pretty high for this church. You do not have to be Catholic to come here to take photos (they even invite people to come here for mass on Sundays) and look around. Well worth a visit if you are in the French Quarter.

What a beautiful church! I enjoy visiting old churches when I travel. This church is located in the heart of the French Quarter in Jackson Square. They do offer tours during the week, make sure to check the schedule. The tours didn't fit within my schedule but the church is still open and it is free to explore. Keep in mind the service schedules. I was able to wander and appreciate the architecture and marvel at the art and stunning Windows. There is a cute little chapel store that sells religious items and the women in the store is very friendly. Walk around nearby Jackson Square and admire the local artists as they sell their stunning work on the street.

What a cool place to visit when touring the city of New Orleans! Catholic or not, you must take in the beauty of the oldest cathedral in America. Perhaps even leave a little a prayer within the holy walls. I did!!
