It was such a nice surprise and made my dad feel good. The bus shuttles from Sonnenberg Gardens were fantastic. The website claims they run every 30 minutes but basically they are running nonstop and we didn't have to wait either to or from the market. There were tons of food trucks. Potato- licious (something like that) had baked potatoes and sausages, hot cider, kettle corn, spiced nuts chocolates, donuts, a pasta food truck, grilled cheese, macaroni food truck, strudel that also had savory pastries (I wasn't a fan of their sausage pastry due to being extremely greasy), a truck with Philly cheese steaks that my parents were really impressed with, a kebab truck, a beer/wine tent and probably others that I'm forgetting. My husband and I ate at the potato truck. They had $5 zweigles hot dogs or sausages, hot cocoa, baked potatoes in a variety of ways: Buffalo chicken, thanksgiving with turkey & gravy, poutine, veggie & cheese...etc. there were picnic tables under a tent and restroom situation was a few portapotties and multiple trailers that had girls/guys facilities. The market consisted of 3 tents and had some great vendors. There was something for everyone. It was comfortable temperatures in the vendors tents because of heat getting pumped in. (With the picnic tables in the shade, it was pretty chilly there.) It was nice to see all of the decorations in Granger house. They were so nicely done and you could vote on your favorites or not and just walk through and enjoy them. We spent about 3 hours here including lunch and dessert. This review is for the Festival of Trees at the Granger Homestead…read more This mansion dates back to the early 1800s, with a massive front door that greets you as you enter. The Festival of Trees runs from mid-November through mid-December at the mansion, and helps you imagine what it would be like to live during the grandeur that was Christmas-time at the Granger Homestead. Each room boasts numerous trees, each unique in their own right. Every tree is available for purchase through the silent auction. This is one of Granger's largest fundraisers, along with the Christkindl Market that happens in early November. During the 2015 Festival, one room hosted a tree that was made entirely out of books, while another was the skirt for cinderella's ball gown (personal favorite). The entire mansion is decorated for the season, and the dining room is set up for the Granger family to enjoy their holiday feast. There is a station where children can write letters to Santa, surrounded by the characters from Who-ville. The beautiful and grand setting is worth the $5 admission price for adults ($4 for seniors, $1 for kids over 5, 5 and under are free), and you may end up taking home a fully-dressed tree.

Overall I loved trying all different beers in small amounts without continuously pulling out my wallet and at the same time supporting a medical cause. Ticket shenanigans aside, the event featured non-local companies for the most part. The closest local joint was Fairport Brewing which was winning for me with their Oh-Pa, oatmeal pale ale. Among the recognizable non-locals were Stone Brewing, Stillwater, Evil Twin, Sierra Nevada and Saranac. Some of the beer was going skunky! I hope they find a way to prevent this for future fests. I was very surprised to see Merrits Estate pouring and selling these flashing mugs of their famous and delishiz sangria slushies! They also were offering a wine slushie calle XTC...it was utterly sweet. Stick with the sangria if you are an in-betweener like me. ANOTHER suggestion is to please sell all inclusive tickets that allow guests to also attend the Wine About Winter tasting event.

This festival have everything: beer, beer, beer, and more beer! Just kidding - there's also cider and food and music and sponsors and all kinds of fun to be had. I've been there on crazy hot evenings and it is the best summer vibe you can find in the city. The brewery scene in Rochester is super special and I love getting a look at what each biz brings to sling at this festival, and be a spectator to the camaraderie amongst brewers. I would personally opt for the VIP ticket, but honestly it seems like everyone goes that route nowadays given the popularity of the festival. I can't wait for this amazing festival to come back to us in its full glory in 2021!

The bathroom is on the basement level and there are a lot of stairs required to climb to get there. The building is accessible with elevators available on each level. The theatre does have a bar area where you can get drinks (alcoholic beverages, water,pop) and snacks. The seats were close together but comfortable. We enjoyed the show and had no issues with our seats.

This is an easy 10 minute drive off the Thruway via the Canandaigua exit, and offers a large, free parking lot. It's bright and spacious inside, and the offerings include ballet, tribute bands, political speakers, journalists, and musical theater. I'm happy to say I have a new arts venue to add to my rotation, and will definitely be checking out their upcoming events. A note: there are a decent amount of stairs at the front entrance, but there is an accessible entrance on the other side of the building.

It was the first time I had been to this rink since it had been rebranded. I was more than disappointed. I was appalled by the lack of security on the ice while we were skating. Some kids were bombing around at high speeds, skating in and around beginners like they were on an obstacle course. Some kids, probably 12 year olds, were using red skating helpers like toys, bashing into each other, or two boys giving a third boy a ride and skating at top speed. One dad was horsing around with his kids, adding to the mayhem.We had to keep looking out for reckless skaters and defending ourselves, stopping or turning quickly to avoid getting slammed into. The security guys stopped some boys once to keep them from using the skating helpers as bumper cars, but that's the only time i saw them do anything. The whole place was staffed with kids. I saw some little kids playing in an information booth, throwing papers around with no supervision. It's too bad parents don't keep an eye on their kids, but the facility should have more supervision and send the message that reckless behavior is not okay.

This review is for the Strawberry Festival held June 16, 2014. There were six vendors offering…read moresamples, problem is, only four of the six had anything to do with Strawberries. Come on, you can do better than that. Of the four offering strawberry themed samples only one stood out and I will post his pictures first. The Society had a great idea of providing a ticket with each vendor on it and directing each person to visit each vendor to get the ticket stamped. The cost of the ticket was just $6.00 and I think that was a real deal! Please have more vendors next year.

If you're looking for a taste of the past, you're going to love the Ohmann Theatre. This is the…read moreperfect spot to take your preservationist friends. Take the long drive out to Lyons New York, and you'll find an old timey downtown area. It seems to me that a lot of this area has been refurbished in the last several years to recreate the small town feel. Among the antique stores you'll find the Ohmann. I went with two other adults and two kids and we had a large popcorn, two candies and three drinks- the total bill- $52. You won't find recliner seats or ear numbing speakers, but you'll also not have to select seats in advance or buy a day and a half ahead. We walked in the door and choose our seats for Incredibles 2 around 10 minutes before the show time. Note- we were traveling with kids and seeing a movie as a family didn't cost us $100! The Ohmann is beautifully restored and after the previews the curtains closed in preparation for the show. I loved the classic feel and the local flavor. I'll be back for sure!
