The church was absolutely beautiful and the perfect size our wedding. I was a little worried in the beginning because we invited 190 people and the church only seats 150 people - it ended up working out though because we only had about 140 guests come to the wedding. We received lots of compliments on the church and people kept asking us how we found it. The staff were great to work with. We lived about 2 hours away from the venue so most of our communication was over email. When we decided to make a trip up there to meet with our reception site, the staff at Port Gamble Weddings were very accommodating to let us into the church and take some pics for our florist. It was really nice because the venue provided a day of coordinator to help with timing and that kind of stuff. Eric Ayala was our day of coordinator and I must say, he was a calming presence on what can be a very stressful day. He was so kind, calm and professional. He was also there at the rehearsal the day before and was just as kind then. I would definitely recommend this church to anyone looking for a nice church without all of the hassle of using other churches.

During the services each of 2 Sunday services (8:00 & 10:00) hosts a brief meet & greet extending friendship and welcome to all parishioners.  The services offer a musical feast in between oral messages. The pastors rotate so that head paster Barry Crane is not always the key speaker. His sermons are special as he has a natural presentation style that is calm, reassuring and dynamic. The other pastoral staff rotates so that everyone gets a chance to lead the worshipers and to share their unique ideas. Doctrine tends to be more conservative with traditional values and practices. While some area Christian churches are heavily into political messages, this church uses a soft approach, which some members find comforting. North Sound Church is an escape to solace providing a break from all the political arguing, a place to give your mind a rest and just enjoy the fellowship it provides.

The services are streamed online and my parents watch them in the living room Sunday mornings. I have found myself wandering down and joining them in watching and/or listening to the service each week for the past few weeks. I even watched the Maundy Thursday service this year! The messages have good take-aways that can be used to guide choices and decisions in day-to-day life and the music is consistently good to great. If there are things conveyed in the sermon that one of us (me, my mom, or my dad) has questions about we'll discuss it afterwards, helping us growth in our faith together. Overall an enjoyable experience.

It would not be my first choice of church if I were choosing only for myself. However, as the mother of a teenage daughter who has had some struggles and is interested in a lively, vibrant youth community? I couldn't ask for more. There is a huge youth community in this church, and there are young leaders who make them all feel welcome and as if they are a part of something powerful-- which the faithful would agree they are. Youth get opportunities to eat dinners together at youth group every Wednesday night, participate in services that are quite lively and interactive on Sunday mornings, and take part in many different community events that exist to improve the church itself or the community surrounding it. It took very little time for my daughter to feel at home here, which made it an "easy sell" for me. As a community member and educator, I see the difference attending Life Church has made in the lives of other local teens and, again, I couldn't have more positive things to say: there are young people who have totally turned things around for themselves-- but, even more importantly, there are teens who have had challenges figuring out where they "fit" who now have a place where they feel welcome and confident to be themselves. Of course, the adults are also caring and active members of the community. However, my greatest kudos to Life Church is for the difference they're making in the lives of children, youth, teens, and young adults in this little town.

There is also more gravel rather than lawn, which limits the usable space of the "backyard". The water views are still lovely and the bushes, flowers, shrubbery nice and well-maintained. Years ago, we were unable to use our own caterers without a lot of negotiation, additional costs and proof of insurance, not to mention covering the costs of the caterers transportation (which we offered to do). The staff over a decade ago felt impersonal and stand-offish, unfriendly and not wishing to be bothered by confirming reservations, nor addressing any questions we had in regards to our wedding day and the property. I hope things have gotten better, and that the people one works with now are more communicative, friendly and happy/willing to help.
